I pretty much roleplay as canon characters- and human for the most part. Eventually I'd like to dabble around playing as a pokemon. I pretty much would like to meet other Pokemon canons as well as OCs. When it comes to characters I play, I preferably like to play as Calem/X, Roark, or Professor Sycamore, but may dabble with other characters from time to time.
When it comes to story-driven roleplay, I love a good adventure and exploring character depths and paths, regardless of the gender of my partner's character(s). As for romance, I do not ship Calem or Sycamore with women, so if you're looking to roleplay romance with a Calem or Sycamore with a female character, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I don't do tournament-style roleplays - there's just often lots of godmodding, auto'ing, and OOC fighting that it's just annoying to me.
I'm fine with folks that play multiple characters, and I myself may play as multiple characters - typically for NPCs, background or secondary characters as needed for a plot or scene. I don't play as Pokemon - ferals or anthros! I've been loosely dabbling with gijinkas. Moreover, I prefer 1x1 RPs than group for the time being. This is a non-canon interpretation of Calem/X, by which he does not become Kalos Champion nor stay as a Pokemon trainer. Essentially, I headcanon Calem to become a Pokemon assistent or lab researcher upon his young adulthood. Very much a WIP.
Born in Vaniville Town in of Kalos, although young, Calem Xavier had goals of becoming a Pokemon master and the Kalos champion. It was a natural dream of any child his age to achieve the glory and honer that came with the title. At six and attending Vaniville Pokemon elementary, Calem was already studying hard and thinking deeply about his future Pokemon partners. The journey of becoming Kalos champion was not easy and if he was going to make it, the young child knew he'd have to train his brain lest he treat his Pokemon poorly.
His parents was there when a newly hatched Espurr was sitting in Calem's lap. It was so small, like a little doll, and soft and warm and perfect. Calem was disappointed that he missed Espurr's birth, but Nurse Joy had given him pictures to make up for the loss. But most importantly, Calem was happy that he'd gotten to Espurr in time, and Espurr seemed to know this it accepted Calem as its master. That was how Espurr became Calem's first Pokemon, and the start of Calem's Pokemon journey.
When Calem arrived to school with Espurr, he was one of the few students with a Pokemon partner - most parents didn't their children Pokemon until 10 years of age. Feeling proud about having Espurr by his side, Calem was more than happy to show off Espurr's powers, and even read books on Espurrs and Meowstics so the boy could have a better idea about about to train his feline partner, and what to watch out for as well. By the turn of the next year, Calem was eight years old when he entered the Kalos Junior Tournament, a competition held across primary and secondary schools for students - to which Calem entered in eagerly.
To the surprise of his opponents and the spectators at the KJT, Calem had won the tournament with Espurr. Whether it was his skill or his opponents underestimating him for his age, Calem was ecstatic about taking home a brand new Wii U station. After winning the tournament, Calem had thought everything would got back to normal after the excitement of the win was over. In celebration of his win, Calem's family had taken he and his friends out to eat, and the dinner had gone well until the group found themselves bombarded by paparazzi waiting for them outside. With many microphones in his face, several cameras flashing, and thosands of questions being thrown about his future, the young boy was so overwhelmed he ultimately humiliated himself in front of his family, friends, and a bunch of strangers.
Traumatized by that night, Calem's dreams of becoming Kalos' next champion became sour and bitter as he threw them away. Although the paparazzi swore not to tell of that night - especially as his parents threatened to sue for harassment. Although the unknown interview with Kalos Junior Tournament winner Calem was swept away and buried to never see the light of day, the boy remained haunted by it as he shortly developt claustrophobia and agoraphobia. Afraid of being crowded and being embarrassed in public, Calem stopped leaving his house, and eventually his room much to the dismay of his family and friends as he feel into a deep depression.

Estranging himself for years after that event, much changed when a new neighbor moved into town. Explained by his mother, renowned Rhyhorn racer Grace and her daughter Serena were moving into Vaniville Town - though to Calem, he didn't care as it didn't involve him. Having received a letter from Professor Sycamore regarding Calem, Calem's mother urged that Calem show Serena around Vaniville Town before taking her off too Lumiose, as the Lumiosien professor was waiting upon them both. Annoyed and reluctant, the once shut-in Calem did as he asked - and just like that, Serena had thrown Calem into an adventure he didn't ask for.
Just after the day Calem toured Serena around Vaniville, he was forced to meet his old friends - Trevor, Shauna, and Tierno. Although it's been years since the KJT incident, Calem long stopped talking to his friends, and after a while, they stopped visiting. Meeting them again was tense, though Calem refused to speak with them as much as he had to. He hated being reminded of the last and the awful vulnerability he felt from it. It was awfully difficult want Tierno presented him with some Pokeballs filled with some Pokemon. Tierno's mother was a dancer in Lumiose and had met with Professor Sycamore, who bestowed her with a handful of starter Pokemon for Tierno and his friends. In the end, Calem had picked out a blue-eyed Fennekin - a curious deviation that stuck out to Calem as odd.
Still, if that wasn't enough to stir up Calem's usual routine, he blamed Serena as the turning point of when his life was thrown into chaos. Just a few days after picking out Fennekin, Kalos' lengendaries Xerneas and Yveltal were mysteriously reawakened and engaged each other into a massive fight across Kalos. In the aftermath of their fighting, Vaniville Town was torn to ruins and Calemn found himself leaving to Lumoise earlier than planned - with Serena, Trevor, Shauna, and Tierno just behind him.
Upon arriving to Lumiose City, Calem felt overwhelmed by the large city and it's endless sea of lights. It was nothing like Vaniville Town were everyone knew everyone and everything that was going on in the small town. Lumiose was engulfing, enchanting, and Calem felt so small and insignificant to such a grand city. Even though he was accompanied by Serena, Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno, Calem felt absolutely alone.
When the group met Professor Sycamore down at the Lumiose Pokemon Lab, a strange feeling awoke inside Calem. From all that he knew about the Professor, the Professor was odd as the rumors said, but also just as kind and warm. But that still felt strange, and as he saw Sycamore being cheery with everyone else, a lump would grow in Calem throat and he found himself hating the Professor. Just like Serena, it was Sycamore that forced Calem to leave the safety of his home and be thrown out to the world... Though deep down, Calem was afraid to entertain another idea, one that he didn't understand himself just yet as he felt a pool of jealousy seep into his gut as he saw Serena hug Sycamore gleefully.
Enter Calem, a lone, washed-out Pokemon trainer. With absolutely no social skills and unsure goals for the future, Calem is lost about where to go in his life. Having no true desire to become the Kalos champion and facing the world of popularity as a social outcast, Calem is lost. Years ago, life used to be so simple when there was a strong light in his life, but where did it go? His parents were so hopeful that he'd find himself again in the world, and now he's a afraid he's learned too much about himself in the dark.
