Whew, this was kind of a hard character bio to fill out, sorry I took so long!
Name: Rosette Mercer
Age: 21 years old
Pronouns: she/her
Tribe: Lightning
Class: Upper
Occupation: Student, Junior inventor
Physical Appearance: She has olive skin and a slightly plump body
Height (optional): 5’7” (about 170 cm)
Weight (optional): 146 lbs (about 66 kg)
Hair (optional): fine, long russet (red-brown) hair, always tied back but in various different styles
Eyes (optional): dark hazel eyes, very close to brown
Clothing (optional): tight-fitting beige cargo pants, with a pair of gloves hanging loosely from one of the leg pockets; a pair of goggles hanging from around her neck; a white ruffle blouse with a collar
Identifying Marks (optional): patches of light pink, discolored skin on her hands and forearms
Personality: Rosette is rather exuberant, often overwhelming in her enthusiasm to express her thoughts. Ultimately, her heart is kind, and she aspires to improve the lives of others with her inventions, but she lacks the lived experiences that allow her to truly understand and empathize with the people’s struggles. Her forceful personality can also be a detriment here, since people are sometimes too intimidated to tell her when her ideas are flawed.
Skills: good with machines, acquired resistance to electricity (from being shocked so much)
Past: Rosette was born to an upper-class family in the Lightning Tribe that specialized in mass production of weapons and other technology. In her youth, she learned the principles of every discipline that the Lightning Tribe valued with the near-endless resources she had at her disposal, and she found herself enamored with the technology of the world. Rosette busied herself with building upon the inventions of her own family and of others; one notable incident occurred when she was in her teens and a Rotom possessed a hoverboard with a magnetic stone that she was working on, allowing it to stabilize midair.

Family/Relationships:
- Mother (Adélie Mercer): Adélie is rather cold and professional, and that translates into how she educates her children, including Rosette. Rosette respects her mother, since she is the current head of the family and has a keen mind for business, but she often feels stifled by Adélie’s expectations. Adélie, in turn, loves Rosette, but is often disappointed by her lack of aptitude in handling the family business since she is the heir.
- Father (Marius Mercer): Marius is more similar to his daughter, with a kind heart and righteous mind, though not quite as uncompromising as Rosette can be at times. The two enjoy clashing wits in heated debates about social issues and are never angry at each other about it for long. Marius is also the one who taught Rosette the importance of perspective, though she has yet to have the opportunity to use that knowledge.
- Younger sister (Blanche Mercer): Blanche is the middle sibling, at 19 years old, and she deems herself to be Rosette’s rival in inheriting the business and in intelligence (which is not unwarranted; Blanche took after her mother in her practical manner). Rosette does not see things this way because she never wanted the business anyways and because she doesn’t believe intelligence can be measured. This frustrates Blanche to no end, so things remain somewhat tense between them for now.
- Younger sibling (Hyacinthe Mercer): Hyacinthe is the youngest sibling, at 14 years old. They adore Rosette and follow in her footsteps by pursuing knowledge for the sake of knowledge. In their case, they study the past for the sake of advancing the present. They have a natural inclination for storytelling, though they suppress this skill, which they deem unhelpful.
Species: Rotom
Nickname: Battery
Gender: genderless
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
Identifying Marks: they’re a ghost
Past: The Rotom was always a bit of a prankster, darting into the devices of the people of the Lightning Tribe and making them go rogue. That somewhat changed when they encountered Rosette and made her hoverboard float (afterwards, the two forged a partnership), but the Rotom still has a tendency to completely ditch their human partner if they find her inventions dull.
Personality: They are rather childlike. They are eternally curious of the world around them, and they are also flighty, unsuited to be a partner Pokémon because of how boring they find such a normal life.
Species: Mareep
Nickname: Ampère
Gender: male
Ability: Static
Nature: Relaxed (+Def, -Spd)
Identifying Marks: none in particular, but his coat is often slightly more fluffed up than the average wild Mareep
Past: In the Lightning Tribe, there are several families who raise Mareep that are specially bred to discharge more electricity over an extended period of time. This is one such Mareep, which happened to be purchased by Rosette’s family. He ended up taking a shine to Rosette, in part because Rosette was the only one in the family who experimented with technology with such frequency that she needed an Electric-type Pokémon by her side all the time.
Personality: He is rather laid-back most of the time, almost appearing thoughtless in the way he follows Rosette around. He has a keen intuition regarding the intentions, both good and bad, of humans.
