    *RUNS IN* I CAN ANSWER THIS. Okay so youre correct to assume that every RP is its own timeline and people get to pick and choose where and when they want their story to take place, and how far they want to include the canon. This also extends to sidegame RPs like PMD or completely original plots. Good RPs will usually state the time/location of the setting, so be sure to look out for that in introductory posts.

    Ah! Cool! Thank you for letting me know! I just finished up my character and will probably start reading over some threads before jumping straight in! I want to get a feel for the popular modem for story telling here. See if it’s through traditional freeform rp, more combat oriented, or a mixture

    It's story-telling RP. Basically how you would tell a story, but in 3rd person and in past-tense. You get a mixture of this in most RPs.
