Depends what you mean by basic, it’s a fairly basic design if that’s what you mean.

As in, does it have any prior evolutions? If so, it is evolved. If not, it’s basic.

It is from one of the three latest generations. 6, 7 or 8. I think saying a specific one would make it too easy.

Hmmm... how many evolutionary stages does its line have? (And could you clarify a bit on the whole evolution item clue?)

It has 1 previous form, and never evolves again (outside of dynamax, obviously). When the evolution stage before it is given the specific item, it evolves into the Pokemon I am thinking of.
