What are warning points?

It says it briefly in the rules, but: when you get warnings, you get a certain number of "warning points" with them. You can't see them yourself - only staff can - but the number you have determines what punishments are put on your account - in other words, whether you're in moderation or read only.

After a while, warning points expire and drop off your account - we can still see the warning, but it's greyed out and no longer counts against you. How long that takes depends on the warning - it's usually around a couple of weeks.

No, you always know when you have a warning - we tell you by sending you a private conversation, and explain exactly what the issue is. The only thing you can't see is exactly how many points you have - but again, if you asked I'd be happy to tell you where you stand.
