Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
XenForo? If you’re running a simple forum, very easy. If you’re building bespoke functionality like the Trainer Card Maker, it’s all raw PHP within an MVC framework. Depends what you want to do with it.
We have various technical means that can give us a good idea of whether two accounts are being used by the same person. It's more than just that, but I think that's what you're asking.
You’ll want to upload it somewhere and use [IMG] tags - if you right click an attachment and copy the URL, you can put it inside the tags so it’ll appear :)
But I can certainly see how they'd have their uses! Running a battle RP by dice roll could make for some interesting, varied situations – having the dice determine whether you get hit or not, and how badly could be interesting to read. So it's not something I'd consider an urgent or pressing...
Ultimately, in-RP dice roll systems are a way to keep players honest – but I'd expect that level of honesty from all our role players as a bare minimum. If someone is constantly forcing hits/status effects, never allowing their characters to be hit, and is otherwise being cheap and godmoding...
It's not likely that I'd try and poison another character at all unless it was specifically to move the plot along – in RP, poisoning a Pokémon would be a pretty awful thing, and likely to end the battle there and then and require immediate medical attention. It's not something I'd try and force...
We've survived thus far without that sort of system, however, because we tend not to RP as if we were playing a game. If someone's going to poison someone else, it's generally agreed and organised beforehand, so it's not autoing or otherwise broken or cheap.
I think there's value in such things, actually. I have occasionally wondered whether the RP section could benefit from what would basically be a dice roll system, for people who choose to use such things.
