Life for Jake was relatively lack luster after he became the frontier master of the Sinnoh battle frontier and opened an extension zone for any trainer strong enough to defeat the traditional battle frontier. Even then Jake felt bored as the few trainers that did manage to reach the extension zone were often an easy opponent even without the rather specific rules of the battle forge.
That was until he received a invitation that would ultimately change his life.
It was a boring run of the mill day on the prestige isles just north of iron island. The wingull and starly were chirping while gentle waves lapped the shoreline and the sounds of a raging Pokemon battle echoed throughout the closely connected islands
"So you have defeated my lucario, no easy feat I must say," said Jake as he returned his lucario and unhooked a small charm from his neck "very impressive however you are about to face a Pokemon that blurs the lines between perception and reality. Knightmare I call on your services!" Yelled Jake as he thrust his arm skyward and a grey blur shot from the peak of a nearby mountain, suddenly the blur settled revealing a Pokemon covered in glimmering metal like scales and rough leathery skin. Slowly piercing red eyes appeared from the darkness and a deafening roar bellowed from its now gapping mouth
"The end has arrived, knightmare use wyvern wing, show them your unrestricted power!" Yelled Jake as knightmare's arms and wings began to glow with a dim but slowly building torrent of purple energy as the beast rose higher and higher off the ground
"Quickly Salamance use Draco meteor!" Yelled the young trainer standing opposite jake, the Salamance knew what to do roaring as it summoned a barrage of meteors which left the field in a major state of disarray. Finally the barrage stopped as one singular meteor the size of a small car began to plummet directly toward the still charging knightmare. Then mere seconds from Impact knightmare sprung to life and with a singular slash reduced the meteor to a cloud of glimmering dust and that was just the beginning as knightmare launched itself toward the Salamance before lashing out with a series of slashes, punches and energy blasts causing a huge explosion. When the dust finally settled Salamance lay in a large crater fainted.
"Wha, what? How? How did I lose?" Mumbled the trainer holding back tears
"Knightmare's signature move does more damage the longer it charges and if charged for long enough can even absorb the energy from an opponents attacks." Stated Jake as he walked over to the trainer offering him his hand
"I haven't felt that exhilarated by a battle in a long time, thank you"
"The feeling is mutual" replied the young boy as he returned his Salamance and wandered off in the direction of the Pokemon center
---1 hour later---
"Jake, a letter came for you this morning" said Athena, Jake's AI assistant as he entered the lobby of 'the prestige lodges' the best and only completed hotel in the still under construction resort complex
"Thank you Athena, I'm on my way up now" replied the young frontier brain as he entered a private elevator and swiped his key card, within minutes Jake had climbed the 36 stories to his penthouse and the doors opened directly into his living room
"Jake the reconstruction team has already begun work on battling field 3 but please in future avoid turning it into an assortment of meteors and blast craters, oh and that letter I mentioned earlier is sitting on the kitchen counter for you."
"Thanks again Athena" said Jake as he strolled into his kitchen and grabbed the gold embossed envelope
"Hmm that's weird no senders address, oh well then it's probably not fan-mail and its not bills either so ... Holy mother of Arceus!" Yelled Jake as he opened the letter and began to read its contents
'To Frontier Master Jake Anistar, you have been officially invited to participate in the newly established Dandur regional league. Yourself and nine others will compete to qualify for the league finals where in which the winning trainer will be crowned champion of Dandur and awarded a seat upon the Pokemon world masters council. A collection of soon to be thirteen members who represent the six regional leagues, five challenge trails along with two grand champions and of course the soon to be champion of Dandur.
Enclosed in this envelope is a return ticket to the Dandur region from your newest airport, there will also be a meet and greet of the ten competitors in Lumiose city in six days any and all your questions will be answered at said meeting

"Holy crap, six days to get to Lumiose I need to pack, Athena activate quick pack protocols and inform all of my Pokemon scattered across the islands to return in poke-bank for collection and allocation of training regimes" yelled Jake as he moved to a computer in the corner of the room and began selecting his seven Pokemon to accompany him on his journey
"Scar, Hot-shot, Genji, Reinhardt, Road-hog, Bastion and of course Knightmare" murmured Jake as he worked frantically to organize not only the Pokemon he was taking to Dandur but also organizing training programs for his remaining Pokemon.
---6 days later in Lumiose city---
"Guys we're here lets go meet the competition" chuckled Jake as he entered the prism tower conference room
