CHAPTER 1. THE CARNIVAL
-------------------------------------------------
The sky was grey and the ground was flooded in a thick heavy mist, consuming anything it touched with its smoky grasp. It covered the lush green grass which lay at the side of the fairground in Nimbasa city. The sun was nowhere to be seen and neither were any signs of life. The most inviting thing about the place was the smell of warm donuts caressing the air from a nearby closed food stall.
It was completely deserted with no people or Pokemon in sight, until a clown dressed in white stepped out of a huge circus tent. He had a big red nose and white pale skin which matched his white overalls, with a big black cross painted over each eyelid. In his left hand he held a bright red balloon which contrasted the gloomy atmosphere. A grin was spread from cheek to cheek as he made his way towards the Ferris wheel, its bright colourful lights flashing to a silent beat and illuminating the dense mist along with the other carnival attractions. A low chuckle left the clowns red bloodstained lips as he watched the ride rotate effortlessly.
There was a gentle cold gust of wind as he stood there staring, the only sound being the uncomfortable creaks the rides made from tilting slowly in the dead breeze.
