It's 1895, and a series of strange murders have happened in London, England as of late. Noblemen, and sometimes women, are being murdered left and right, leaving their husbands and wives left to care for their estates, all alone, and the bloodlines of several noble families ending, with no children to succeed them. The killer is absolutely flawless in their crimes; they leave no evidence, no prints, no weapon, no, all that's left behind is the remains of the victim's corpse. Needless, to say, the remaining nobles of London are in a state of disarray, desperately trying to find out who the mysterious killer is...And who's next.
But there is one very, very reclusive noble, who refuses to engage in such matters, or any, for that matter. She is disgusted by the lengths fellow members of her rank go to increase their own status, despite nobody else seeing anything wrong with it. In fact, she seems to hate the very core of nobility, despite being a noble herself. Could this recluse be hiding something? Or, better yet, could this recluse be behind the murders? Some think so, given her indifference to the murders, even the one of her own husband...
This is a Black Butler role play. For those of you who haven't read or watched it, it's an anime series set in Victorian England, about aristocrats, demons, and grim reapers. This RP won't involve anything from the canon stuff, however, so you don't have to have watched it, or read it, to join.
Please read the rules carefully, and fill out a bio sheet on this thread. Ideally, I'd like five people to join before I start this.
Here's a little bit about the species you can choose to be in this RP:
Humans:
Almost no explanation needed. Humans may summon demons if they wish to make a contract with them, and they are the only species with the power to do so. If they make a contract, they will have absolute power over that demon, until their contract is fulfilled. The summoning ritual is different for every demon, but in order for a ritual to succeed, the human has to meet the following criteria:
1.) The human must have lost all faith in God
2.) The human must have a wish that they, very badly, want to come true
Demons:
Demons are beings from Hell, who feed on human souls. In order to obtain souls, most demons make contracts with human beings; they will grant a human's wish, and once they have completed their request, they will consume the human's soul. Most demons have animal-like features, in their true forms, but they will take on human forms while contracted to a human. Once they have made a contract, a demon must obey every last order given to them without question, until the terms of the contract have been fulfilled. Demons are absurdly powerful, and athletic, and can heal from grievous injuries inflicted by human weapons in seconds.
Grim Reapers:
Grim reapers are responsible for collecting the souls of the departed. Before harvesting a soul, they must review their cinematic record, which contains all of their memories, and decide whether or not they deserve to die. They typically dress like office workers, and carry death scythes with them at all times. They also tend to despise demons, as they believe that they get in the way of their work.
Rules:
1.) No pity-baiting. No having your character become seriously injured or ill, just so that the other players will give you attention and sympathy. Do it once, and you'll get a warning. Twice, and you'll be asked to leave.
2.) Only humans can make contracts with demons. If you want to play as someone else's demon, ask them if it's ok first.
3.) No OC x Canon. You cannot be Sebastian's secret missing wife, or whatever. No exceptions.
4.) Only era-appropriate outfits are allowed. That means, no clothing items that didn't exist in the 1800s. Skirts and dresses, with heavy corsets and petticoats for ladies, and jackets and dress shoes for gentleman would be the most appropriate.
5.) Aside from this, standard rules apply.
Name (If a human, include their title as well): Countess Alma Harrowfield, often referred to as Lady Harrowfield
Title (If a human. The options, ranked from lowest to highest, are Baron(ess), Viscount(ess), Count(ess), Earl or Lady, Duke, and Duchess. The higher your class, the wealthier and more respected you will be, especially by other nobles): Countess
Occupation: Countess/Serial killer
Species: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Location of contract seal (If contracted to a demon): On her forehead. The seal appears as a black baphomet, outlined in turquoise, and is often covered up by her fringe.
True Form (If a demon):
Death Scythe (If a grim reaper. Grim reapers are given small scythes to harvest souls with, when they first start work, but they can have these modified into other bladed items if they choose, such as saws, knives, and even lawn mowers):
Demon (If a human contracted to a demon): Abigail Saunders. Abigail is tall and pale, with green eyes, and long black hair. In human form, she wears a light blue frock, with a white frilly apron over the top, and a white bonnet. In her true form, she resembles a mermaid, with a long, fish-like tail, and a black and silver corseted top.
Contract Terms (If contracted to a demon): Alma's demon is to help her free every young woman or man in a forced marriage in London. Once this is complete, the demon will claim Alma's soul. In the interim, they are to serve as Alma's maid.
History: Despite her being an adult, Alma never had any control over her life, until she made her contract. Born to a greedy baron, Alma's family were among the lowest ranked members of Victorian England's aristocracy, and thus her father sought to increase their status. Alma was betrothed, from birth, to the son of a count, solely to increase her father's status, as counts rank higher than barons. Despite her multiple objections, and even her trying to run away, Alma's father forced her to marry the count's son, and the rest of her family, feeling powerless against her father, never did anything to help. Alma's new husband treated her as little more than a status symbol; she was never to speak to anyone in public, she was to dress exactly how he wanted, and she was to submit sexually to him whenever he so pleased. As a woman in Victorian England, nobody took any notice of Alma's plight, after all, women were nothing more than property back then, and besides, no one wanted to be an outcast among the nobles.
Sick of being controlled by men, and sick of seeing so many other women and men like her be subjected to the same misery she had been, Alma decided to do the unthinkable, and summon a demon. Her wish? Kill her entire family, her husband, and all of her in-laws, and free her from her pitiful life. That, and give her the power to save every other woman, ans man, like her in London. With no family members left, Alma was appointed the position of the countess, the same one her husband had held, and began ruling over her manor, alone.
Appearance: Alma stands at 5'5", and has long blonde hair, and blue eyes. Her hair is often kept in a loose up-do, pinned in place with a gold, red beryl-studded barrette. She wears an off-shoulder crimson red dress, with a white fur trim, and red beryls at the hem, and loose, frilly puff sleeves. There is what appears to be a bouquet of spiderlilies at the chest, outlined with black ribbon. Her dress is supported by white petticoats. She also wears a black diamond choker.
Personality: On the surface, Alma is a cold, harsh young woman, who avoids social obligations, such as attending parties with other members of her rank, and keeps to herself. However, at heart, she is a benevolent soul, who only wants to help young women, and sometimes men, escape from the same horrors she was subjected to. She is honest, and always keeps her word.
