Buglord's sprites

hey, I'm new, these are the sprites Ive made so far and I'd like to get them as custom trainers usable on trainer cards

I'm agreeing with Jeydis. It looks like you didn't think about shading when working on these. That, and the third trainer's head looks totally messed up and not even outlined.

Here's my advice:

-Like Jeydis and Day_U said, watch the shading. Try not to make everything one color, keep in mind the official sprites have both light and dark as well as a few other tones.

-Avoid using the colors provided by Paint, or whichever program you used to make these sprites. Instead, you should try to take colors from actual game sprites and apply those to your custom sprite.

-Make sure everything has an outline. Basically, I'm referring to the third sprite to the right which, as Day_U pointed out, looks totally messed up.

That's pretty much all the advice I can give. Also, if you're hoping to get your sprite in the trainer card maker, there's a thread for that which I think is located in the forum feedback section, or something like that. But I suggest you practice spriting a bit more before posting there.

Ok, I edited this image to the best of my ability, if you don't think it's good enough, I would appreciate someone better than me at this (aka, anyone) to work on it. I will continue to fix these sprites, but I really dont think the second one needs editing.

Well... I personally thinnk the second one needs a bit more shading. Okay, that's me being nice. It needs a lot more shading, esp. on his clothes. The first one's needs more shading on the pants and his hands. The female needs more shading in her hair and on her clothes, and the one you had editted... needs more hair, and the cap makes him look weird in my opinion. And, once again, shade the shirt a bit more.

That's all I can say right now.

I agree, I worked on the first one already, but the program I was using spazzed out and I couldn't get it on my photobucket account. I've only been doing this the past like, two weeks, so I need some practice. Also, how do you shade the third one's shirt, it's black. And I love the hat.

Well, to kinda shade the black shirt, I suggest finding a somewhat dark shade of grey, then finding another shade of grey that's darker than that, then black. If you look at Cynthia's clothes, you can see that, even though they could be considered black, it's really a dark shade of grey. Looking around in everyday-life, shirts that you consider black may look somewhat grey-ish in the sunlight, if you know what I mean.

Hope I'm making sense. If not, you can PM me, and I'll try to explain it a bit more.

For now, I suggest that, instead of finding your own colors, try using some existing colors already found on the other Pokemon and trainer sprites from the game.

This is the girl edit, I did the shirt and left arm too, but the program spazzed again.

Edit:looks like the arm and shirt are working, awesome!
