Do you think there are too many Legendaries nowadays?

In the begining (wow, bible quote. O_o) there where only three legendary birds, and two very special other ones. They where Zapdoz, Moltres, Ardicuno, and Mew, and its mutated cloned offspring, Mewtwo. I was ok with that, 'couse it made sense that legendaries should be kept to a minimum.

Then, came the G/S generation, which more or less followed the same rules as the first generation. Three legendary dogs now, Suicune, Raiku, and Entai, followed by two special birds, Ho-oh and Lugia. There was an extra one, Celebi, but I was ok with it because you can never catch it without cheating anyways.

R/S, started to get a little crowded. There where two sets of the three legendary combos. The Regies, and Kyoger, Groudon, and Rayquaza. Already, that made six. Then, there was Jirachi and Deoxis, but again, you cant catch them without cheating, or a special event.

And now, in the D/P generation, its like the Legendary machine ate a bean burrito and cut a huge one. There the three little sprite thingies, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Then, theres Dialga and Palkia. At first, I thought 'Alright! its following the origional legendary format! three combos, and two special!'
Boy, was I wrong. Then theres Heatran, Regigigas, and Giratina, three more to add to the Legendary pool. Not to mention Cresselia and Darkrai. Oh, and the little blue things, Manaphy and Phione.Holy crap, more! Shaymin and Arceus! then again, you can only get those in a special event...

Lets count em, shall we?

In the D/P generation, there are 14 Legendary pokemon. 14! It started out with only 5, and now we're already at 14.

I know, some of you out there think its great theres more, gives you more chances at catching rare pokemon and adding to your collection and crap.
But, doesnt more give Legendaries less value? Its just my opinion, but I think it does. I'd love to see what the community thinks of this topic though. :3

I agree with you, there are so many legendaries now that in my opinion they have lost their 'value'. The original 5 were enough for me.

I also dislike the 'storylines' that go along with them. For example, Uxie, Mespirt and Azelf exist to create balance etc (as far as I remember) and in the game your objective is to prevent their capture... yet you end up being told to catch them yourself ???

Legendaries just aren't so rare anymore, and I think that lessens their appeal. I know it has to happen to make the games what they are, but I always thought the legendaries shouldn't be catchable anyway. If everyone has a 'there is only one of them' pokemon it kinda defeats the point...

Plus, there's still an active topic on the subject in the Debate Forum: Legendary Pokemon: Running dry?.

I could merge your posts from this topic into that one, but it's probably easier to leave this here as a pointer for anyone else who wants to debate this. GO TO THE EXISTING TOPIC! k'thx.
