So, in anticipation of my Diamond game arriving tomorrow, I have a question to ask:

What are the differences between playing as a male and playing as a female in GenIV? Is it only the player sprite and Pokétch colour?

As far as I know. They're the only noticeable differences. Also Contest outfiits are different.

The dialog you receive from the opposite gender character is also slightly different depending on who you choose, but not massively so. It's not enough to determine which gender you should pick at least.

In the end, it mostly comes down to the sprite and little stylistic differences here and there (like the Poketch as you mentioned). Beyond that there's no key selling points for either because they're basically the same.
