In this world, there exist three dominant creatures: Humans, Pokemon, and Gijinka. Long ago, humans believed they could create the ultimate power, by combining humans and pokemon. However, the news of the cruel experiments leaked, and humans demanded freedom for these poor creatures. They entered a world who thought they could accept them as they were, who waited with open arms to greet a new form of life.
However, the Gijinka were, indeed, incredibly powerful. Acceptance turned to mistrust, mistrust created tension, and soon the world cracked under that tension. A battle between a Gijinka and Pokemon that ended in the Pokemon's untimely death was the final straw. Humans learned a way to control the Gijinka, bend their wills and force them to obey, with collars designed similar to master balls. Those who refused to be controlled were forced into hiding, either in the sewers of cities or in the dense forests. The ones captured were given menial jobs, like factory workers, farm hands, servants, and other work humans didn't want to do themselves. With time, this structure became accepted, the use and abuse of Gijinkas just nature, even pokemon were valued higher than them. Underground civilizations of free Gijinka grew slowly with time, hiding to avoid capture, forced to remain small or risk the whole lot being found.
At the same time, humans worked to eradicate these civilizations, to prevent them from rising up, and to bring more into the work force. They have turned these collars into throwable disks that can attach to a Gijinka as either a bracelet, anklet, collar, or belt depending on where it hits them. Many of those captured are sold to private owners, business owners or even to collectors, while trouble makers are locked away in dingy prisons.
Now is the time for the beaten to rise up. The humans have begun to underestimate the Gijinka once more, believing them weak, malnourished and easily influenced. Will the world go to war, or can there be a peaceful means to change the minds of their human captors?

Rules:
1. No legendary, mythical or mega-evolving Gijinka. All Gijinka should only have one type of pokemon they are combined with. Also, please no fakemon.
2. In this world, surviving to even see 30 without being captured is almost unheard of, and the average age of free Gijinka is about 20, as many are also caught very young as well. This also means that very few reach ever manage to evolve even once, much less a third stage. Evolving here also means more than gaining level or finding stones, but generally involves a Gijinka being "ready", either in maturity, fighting skill, or any other personal factors.
3. Controlled Gijinka to not have the ability to resist their owner while wearing their control device. Your average middle class human can usually only afford one or two control devices, although this number can vary based on social class or job (eg factory owners may buy control devices in bulk, police may keep more around, traders/hunters sell off captured Gijinka for the price of the device, etc.)
4. Although Gijinka are naturally stronger than your average human or pokemon, they aren't invincible. Generally, the ratio of level of pokemon to level of Gijinka is about 3 to 1, so for every approximate level a gijinka has, a pokemon of the same type would need about three times the level to match their stats. For example, a young Purrloin Gijinka of approximate level 5 would have about the same speed as a true Purrloin at level 15. So if your Gijinka is level 10, a stage 1 pokemon at level 30 would be a fair match, and an evolved pokemon at level 30 would be a challenge.
5. There is no region structure in this world, however most civilization resides in huge, urban cities, which have their districts within in them, such as factories at their heart, expensive suburban regions, and even farms at their very edges. Most free Gijinka hide within the more impoverished areas of town, either disguised as human or hiding in the maze of sewers. This also means that many pokemon that trainers own either thrive in urban environments (like grimer and trubbish), are bred because they are considered desirable as pets (think like cat and dog pokemon), are bred for their strength in battle (think pseudolegendaries or other high stat pokemon), or trainers could travel quite a ways out of the cities to more rural regions to catch other types (for example stantler or ekans).
6. This is a site rule, but to emphasize this one in particular, PLEASE NO SUES/STUES. The site roleplay rules have very generously provided a test to help you determine if your character fits this description, and I encourage you try it. Believe me, even I use it as a tool for creating my characters.
7. Cursing is acceptable, but please, don't have your character constantly swearing like a sailor, and use text symbols (#!@%^&) to sensor yourself for any younger audiences that may be around.
8. This should be obvious, but just to put it out there, please follow all site rules.
9. Romance is acceptable, but please, don't have it between two of your own characters because that just tends to pull you out of the plot everyone else is experiencing, and please, take any mature content away from this thread.
10. Another obvious one, but I won't hesitate to turn away character submitted who ignore any of these rules, including those about the nature of the world this takes place in. I may also turn away applications that demonstrate poor writing abilities. There is nothing more roleplay killing than writers who leave indecipherable posts or who don't read and thoroughly confuse the plot.

[hide=Diana the Deino]
Name: Diana, often referred to as simply Di
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Deino Gijinka
Approximate level: 28
Moveset: Work Up, Dragon Rage, Slam, Dragon Breath, Crunch, Headbutt, Roar, Focus Energy, Tackle
Abilities: Hustle (ups attack, lowers accuracy), blind navigation
Appearance: My own art here. Di is pretty much blind, only able to generally make out dark shapes. She's a 5'2" ball of quiet fury, and is often confused for being a few years younger, even once being confused for a 14 year old.
Personality: Di rarely if ever speaks, and radiates a very serious, yet calm aura more befitting of someone far older than herself. Despite this, she can be incredibly headstrong and silently demands that things go her way, or else she will ensure they go her way. She's never been afraid to fight or resist, and does her best to avoid showing any fear. Once she has determined friends as well, you can bet you will have her utmost loyalty.
Background: Di grew up in the sewers of the city, an invaluable asset to other that lived there because of her sensitive hearing that could always tell if a raid was coming down. Because she doesn't talk, only those who knew her parents know her background, and that's pretty much how she prefers it since she herself does not dwell on the past. She spent many years of her life sparring and training though, making her one of the strongest fighters in the underground. As of the present, she has pretty effectively avoided capture.
Other: Despite her quiet nature, her no-nonsense nature and strength has made her something of a natural leader in these terrible times[/hide]
[hide=Richard Huntsly]
Name: Richard "Dick" Huntsly
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Job: Technically a police officer, he heads the city's Gijinka Capture division of the force
Pokemon Team:
Collars owned: Pretty much can get what he needs to do his job, usually will only carry one with him at a time, because they're unwieldy and newly caught Gijinka can be a serious handful.
Appearance: Screenshot of Detective Sebastian Castellanos from "The Evil Within", published by to Bathesda Software.
Personality: Headstrong, and set in his ways, Dick is very much a traditionalist who fully believes that his forefathers could not have been wrong to trap these creatures and protect the city from them. He's the type who refuses to see that there are plenty of peaceful Gijinka, and hones in on all the terrible ones that he has seen locked up over the years he's worked for the agency. He's incredibly loyal to his friends and family, never leaving behind a fallen officer. To be honest, he enjoys his alcohol quite a bit, although he tries not to drink to excess too often.
Background: Dick's had a pretty nice life growing up, nothing spectacular but none too bad either. However, that ended when he was 16, and a fire type Gijinka set their house ablaze. Although he was rescued, neither of his parents survived. Since that day, he determined he would protect the world from the Gijinka, and get revenge for his parents. The moment he could apply to join the police force, he had his application ready and waiting. Passing initial training with flying colors, he ensured his placement on the Gijinka Capture team. Being incredibly dedicated to his work and being the first to figure out a way to use captured Gijinka against wild ones, he ascended the ranks in record time, taking command of the whole unit by the time he turned 28. For the past 4 years, he has been working to improve catch rates and keep his city safe.
Other: Typically, any Gijinka he captures are put up on public auction, but on occasion he may make the call to hand them over to someone he deems a worthy owner.[/hide]
[hide=Sid the Noibat]
Name: Sid
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Species: Noibat Gijinka
Approximate level: 23
Moveset: Air Cutter, Agility, Wing Attack, Bite, Gust, Leech Life, Tackle, Supersonic, Screech
Abilities: His somewhat small wings allow him to fly short distances, Infiltrator ability means he has great ability to get behind enemy lines and ignore any protection moves. His noibat ears also allow him to echo-locate
Appearance: Sid definitely looks his age, with a bit of a round, baby face with a splatter of freckles across his nose. He has shaggy, dark purple hair with large noibat ears protruding up from his head, as well as fairly large, golden eyes with long lashes to frame them. He stands about 5'5" with a fairly toned figure, and noibat wings that are about as long as his back. They're strong enough to get him some lift and and carry him a short distance, but not very far, and not with a heavy burden. Typically he is dressed in a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled, a lavender tie, and black slacks with black suspenders. When off duty or attempting to infiltrate gijinka settlements, he wears a lavender t-shirt and black shorts, often without shoes either.
Personality: Sid can be a total brat at times, and hates having to take orders from Dick. When under orders, he's almost too good at his job, but after the deed is done he tends to hide away and mope for a while. When under strict control, he can be quite polite, like a model child from some private institution.
Background: Sid was born in the sewers beneath the city to two rather young parents. He was incredibly lucky to have them around until he turned 12, however his parents time were clearly running short with competition for resources and being prime targets for capture. However, it would not be his parents that were taken from him, but in a surprising display of bravery he instead would be taken in place of his mother. It was then that he was hauled away by Dick as the officer's very first catch. He never saw his parents again, but his time with Dick was... well, for someone who so hated gijinka, it could have been a lot worse. The officer never raised a hand to him or abused him, however he never seemed afraid to use the control bracelet on Sid's wrist to force him into submission if the child wouldn't obey on his own. Since he was 13, Dick began to use him to enter the sewers and find clumps of gijinka to sniff out. Generally he would stay out of sight to avoid gaining notoriety, but on very rare occasion he would enter the settlement for a bit to find out a little more information. As of yet, no one has been able to connect him to the raids, as his control device is worn as a belt beneath his clothes when he goes in.
Other: Generally once raids start, he makes himself scarce, either pretending to run away with other gijinka, or sneaking away before it starts and hiding in a police vehicle, where he begins his moping.[/hide]
However, the Gijinka were, indeed, incredibly powerful. Acceptance turned to mistrust, mistrust created tension, and soon the world cracked under that tension.
