A wireless router would work, yes. You can also buy a WiFi USB hub at most game stores. Nintendo had one produced specifically to work with the DS, and it's cheaper than a full-one wireless router. But you don't really need to buy anything if you can find a wireless hot-spot elsewhere. McDonalds restaurants have such hot-spots, for example.
