if I'm counting right, that's sixteen people and this is the sixteenth page of this thread. what a world.
So we can have 8 rows of 2 (out of the question nvm)
Or 4 rows of 4? seems doable. But then that's an even number so there isn't a pure middle
We could add 'lame ahh' filler chairs and have a 5 by 5 square: that way there's a middle. But then that feels slightly too big. I'd still go with 5 by 5
This is like one of those logic puzzles!
Edit: the 5 by 5 is perfect. but then there's the problem of getting people in the places they say they are. I'll think on it

5x5 would allow us to still accomodate for any possibly new and/or returning characters (Pax, Kim, Angus, Elizabeth, Hamza, etc.) and gives us an actual middle seat
Edit: Also a couple characters I missed because I don't think it's explicitly said where they are (Asuna and Miles, i believe, could be missing a couple more)

Only 5 are for sure cemented in place: Cinead in the top left, Orion in the middle, tsugi to his right, Pamela to Orion's left and Gwen seated next to her. That leaves two back rows and most of the front row to maneuver with
Furthermore, nera, Isolde, Andrew, and Arielle form most of the backmost row. Only one seat is left back there, but which seat depends on who's in a far corner: is nera in the bottom left, or is Andrew in the bottom right of the square.

-Marcel cannot be sitting directly in front of Gwen, Pamela, Orion, or tsugi because Braeyden is behind him. By extension, fuyoko cannot be seated in front of all those options except tsugi, on account of her being next to him. This also means Marcel cannot be behind any of them either because that prankster would be in the way of nera, Isolde, Arielle, and Andrew.
however, if Andrew is in the far bottom right corner, then Braeden could sit all the way in the back left corner and Marcel could sit behind Gwen with fuyoko to his right. This also allows Melanie to sit by fuyoko, In front of Isolde.
this would all be flipped in the opposite direction if nera was in the back left corner.
But then Gina has to get in the way because she's right next to Braeden. damn it, guess I'll keep working.
Everybody else is in chunks together, and I'm not sure it'll all fit the way it's currently configured. but it's worth a try!

At least according to the masterlist I have in the first post of this thread, anyways. We MAY wanna do 6 x 5... making the rows 6 wide so we can have a middle column still?

I believe there's 4 I missed besides the 16 I listed that's currently in the classroom (Asuna and Miles + Jake and Amaryllis)
6x5 works and gives us more room to work with, I glanced at the masterlist and there's some from people who've left or are AWOL atm

the problem with not hashing this out beforehand is that now all of meris 'characters are all clustered together in the front, leaving no room for natural interaction with other people. Furthermore, cinead's closest companions are all controlled by cryonn, also stifling interaction diversity. And don't get me started on Andrew- you've got at least three desks away from anyone who isn't also being controlled by gold??? Isolde doesn't count, there's no chance in hell you're going to look over Arielle and say howdy to the girl who almost passed out during her introduction, since introverts will never meet each other outside of circumstance?? XD
sure, but that doesn't solve these other kinks. Although those could just be me being picky

Perhaps we could iron out the issue of the characters not being distributed enough by changing the seating chart for NEXT class, and then making THAT one the canon chart?

I agree with Inkage. This is not the best start of the school year.
Riley out here having the time of her life with no established pairing yet, lmao. Even with all of that, I’m excited to see who she’ll end up with~ oh, and her story too- because while it isn’t complex, FFFUCK I’ve been building it out of my head with music for the last few years.
Maya’s wallflower energy might be a bit too strong, I need a better way to make her a character that feels more interesting to interact with. Advice very much wanted!
Tsugikuni has to babysit Orion until he stops fantasizing about every woman he sees. Tsugikuni will be doing this for a while, no doubt.
And well, Nera already has an established ship and I’ve got a very very interesting direction to go with her lore.
