Private/Closed Meeting at Route 214

Dustin Ray sat under a large oak tree, sitting cross-legged. The sun was high in the sky, with it now being just past noon. Within range, four Pokemon were out and about, enjoying the sunshine under the gaze of their trainer. Eon, an Eevee who just happened to be the partner of Dustin would rush and chase after Chirb the Chatot, playing tag together. Not far from there, Zeller the Buizel was mimicking the martial art moves of Ark the Heracross. For the most part, the team was having a good time, letting their lunch settle, having just eaten. Eon would leap up, smacking Chirb's underbelly with his paw, before scampering away, now trying to avoid being tagged himself. The Chatot, obviously annoyed by being tagged began to circle from above, now being higher from when he was running. Dustin, giving a faint smile, would stand up and brush off his shorts, before waving his arms over his head. "Chirb. Tag me. I'll catch him!" The Chatot swooped down and with his wing, lightly slapped Dustin's hand. "Watch out Eon. I'm going to get you!" Laughing, Dustin would chase his partner, happily playing with the others.

It has already been three years now, huh? Ever since he left his parents with Eon. Three years today, he believed. His parents were well known Pokemon Breeders from Canalave City, who specialized in Eevees, namely Shiny Eevees. Due to the unique evolution of Eevees, the Pokemon was a common starter for rich parents to buy for their child's first partner Pokemon. Plus, with the calmer temperament that was associated with the Pokemon, it was an almost perfect Pokemon for rich families. Dustin's parents were successful and made a lot of money. But they were somewhat cold. They simply thought they could buy their child's affection. From a young age, he had been given almost anything he wanted, as long as he kept to himself. He would often spend the whole day out on the Estate, playing with the wild Pokemon.

This combined with the boy's sweet nature, made him a natural Pokemon lover. He loved to take care of Pokemon, and for the most part, liked them much more than people. And as Dustin got older, both him and his parents grew more and more distant. And when he was 12, there was a client who requested a Shiny female Eevee. However, from the Egg hatched Eon, a normal colored male Eevee, who was born small. Seeing this as a failure, they left the Pokemon out into the woods to die on its own. It was a newborn, and could barely walk. They didn't care. It was best to hide their mistake.

Dustin had found the Eevee and when he heard about what his parents had did, he resented them even more for it. When they found out, he was taking care of their failure, they told him to get rid of it. If he wanted an Eevee, they would breed him a good one. After all, he couldn't be the child of them, and have a weak normal colored Eevee. It was bad for business. Refusing their offer, Dustin had ran away from home. He had been 12 then.

On his travels, he met new friends. Ark, Zeller and Chirb. And while Pokemon Battles didn't interest him, Pokemon Contests and Pokemon Grooming did. There was a lot to learn about this would and Dustin wanted to experience as much of it as he could. With Eon, and the rest of his Pokemon by his side of course. He had been doing a bit of training and was ready to enter a contest that would be held in Lake Valor in a few weeks time. Currently, the party was heading down that way, with a bit of relaxation and training on the side.

The group played for nearly an hour, before all falling onto the group the rest. Dustin laid with his back in the grass, looking up at the sky, thinking about possible combination for the Lake Valor Contest. The contest was actually a Double Style Contest. He had performed a few contests that were Single Style, but had yet to obtain any ribbons. So maybe a Double Style Contest would be just the thing to shake things up and get him a ribbon. He had taken the time to watch Top Coordinators perform on his phone for the past few days and had a few rough ideas. Maybe he would try testing some of them out today.

The biggest worry for Dustin though, was the Battle Portion of the contest. He was already bad enough at Pokemon Battles, but for it to be the second half of a contest always made him sweat. Usually he could get past the Performance stage just fine, only to be knocked out early in the Battle Portion. If Dustin wanted to ever be a Top Coordinator, he needed to learn to improve his battling techniques. At least Ark was a pretty good battler, the best on the team, with Zeller steadily catching up.

Luca Gruden was just about the same as every other young trainer out there that aimed to complete their Gym Challenge. Starry eyed and amazed at how big the world around him really was. He never doubted the sheer expanse that Sinnoh actually was compared to the size of Celestic Town, but it really was impressive just how massive it genuinely was. That only meant that there was more for him to explore, and he was no where near completing his journey.

After just having beat Veilstone City's Maylene for his third gym badge, nothing could knock the young trainer down. He truly was on a roll, having beaten Roark and Gardenia just a few weeks prior. The third gym's test had been made much easier thanks to the lucky addition of Rango, a Gligar he found on Route 207. He wasn't sure it would have been as smooth sailing as it was without him, so he was quite grateful.

Really, he had to be thankful for all of his partners on his journey so far. Laxus, a Luxio that Luca found as a Shinx, was the very reason he could go on this adventure to begin with. Having been his very first Pokémon, he would always be grateful for the electric type. Gaio, his Turtwig who has now turned into a Grotle, was a definite reason he hadn't struggled too much up until this point, too. Roark's rock typing would have been disastrous for him and Laxus had it not been for his encounter with the little tortoise just outside of Celestic Town. That chance encounter on his way to Oreburgh would be a fond memory to return to by the end of his quest, for sure. One couldn't knock the value of Punk the Stunky, either. Luca had found the Skunk Pokémon down on its luck after having been bullied out of the best berry location on Route 206. The trainer wasn't one to simply standby and let a poor 'mon get taken advantage of, so he made sure to give the little stinker some food and shelter before going his own way. Surprisingly enough, this lead to the poison-dark type following the trainer back to Eterna City, and from there, a new friendship had blossomed. Together, Luca, Laxus, Gaio, and Punk took on Gardenia, coming out on top, and from there, the story continues.

Back in the present day, the young man from Celestic Town had decided to start making his way towards Pastoria City, since that was the location of his future, fourth gym badge. He had heard some interesting things about the gym leader there, specifically things concerning his attire of choice, but he wouldn't be dissuaded from continuing on his challenge just because someone dressed funny.

Laxus stayed close to Luca's side as they strolled down Route 214. His pink nose was raised up in the air as he took in all the foreign scents he could. One big sniff sent the Spark Pokémon along a straight line, as he seemingly picked up on a most interesting smell. Naturally, the young trainer was intrigued by whatever it was that his ace had picked up, so he followed close behind. There was always the possibility of the Luxio leading them both to a big, heaping pile of trouble, but they hadn't been led to anything of the sort... yet.

It seemed like today wasn't the day for trouble, as they only managed to stumble across someone sitting under a tree with a good variety of Pokémon around him. They all appeared to be friendly with him and to each other, which was a good indicator that he was probably their trainer. Perhaps he could be his first Pokémon battle since Maylene. He and his team had taken a break from battling after winning the Cobble Badge, so it was a great idea to get back into the mindset of the gym challenge once again.

"Hello!" he would shout from just a few yards away. "It's a bit sunny to be sleeping out in the open, don't you think?"

With the warm sun on his face, Dustin really did feel relaxed. He really did love nature. The cool air mixed with the warm sun, created perfect weather. Plus, the faint smells from the outside world just added to the whole thing. Distant memories of the faint sounds of Roselia's Grasswhistle, and Kricketots and Kricketunes playing sweet notes, all mixed with the faint chirps of bird Pokemon overhead were present in the back of Dustin's head. Every day had been a great day since he left home. He could experience things like this whenever he wanted. Part of his debated setting up his hammock and napping in that for a bit, but he did want to get closer to Lake Valor as his biggest priority. He had been relaxing for long enough.

Unaware to the Luxio that was nearing on them, Dustin's guard was down. However, Ark was quick to catch on. The Heracross turned to stare at the approaching Luxio. It brandished its horn into the air, and let it's wings flap quickly, to give a faint warning to not cause trouble. However, Zeller, was quick to scurry beside the Bug type and lightly smacked the back of it's head with a paw, giving the same message that Ark was giving to Laxus to the Bug and Fighting type.

Eon was quick to run over to begin sniffing the strange Pokemon who appeared with intense curiosity. By this point, Dustin was aware of the person, and would slowly rise, now hearing the stranger speak. "To be honest, it's hard not to relax when the weather is this nice." Dustin shouted back, with a faint smile on his face. He slowly stood up, brushing off some dirt that was on the back of his shorts. Chirb swooped down from a tree branch and landed upon Dustin's shoulder, as he walked over to meet this stranger. Eon seemed to be curious about this new Pokemon in Laxus, and there was no harm in meeting someone knew.

With an hand out to offer a handshake. "Howdy. My name is Dustin. Don't mind Ark over there. He's protective." Dustin jabbed his other thumb out towards the Heracross, before then taking the time to point to each of his other Pokemon, and introducing their name. For the most part, each Pokemon would give some sort of nod or gesture aware they were being introduced.

It was hard for Luca to just sit around and relax these days since he had sitting around for most of his life. At this point, one could even call him an adrenaline junky of sorts. That wasn't to say he couldn't be chill and have a nice conversation with someone, but conversation wasn't as interesting to him as doing something fun. It was a good thing he had a partner who could match his energetic demeanor.

Speaking of partners, Laxus had taken notice of the Heracross's warning. He was going to return the gesture with his ability, the Buizel near him appeared to bap him. This caused the Pokemon to tilt its head a tad in confusion, but that too was interrupted by the approaching Eevee. Its own nose lowered down towards the smaller creature to get more familiar with it. One bright blue paw would stretch forward to try and give the Eevee little taps on the side of its body like any other cat. It was simply an action to get a reaction, but usually that's what felines did to test something or someone out.

Luca couldn't argue with this trainer stranger's logic. At least he had been under a tree for some shade. "I suppose you're right. This is certainly one of the nicer days at this part of the region. I heard if you go farther down, it feels like its rainy all the time, though." He was referencing both Pastoria City and the Route directly to the left of it. Of course, those were only stories told that he had managed to catch snippets of. He still wanted to see the gym town and its famous 'Great Marsh' in person.

A fellow hand would reach out to meet Dustin's. "Hey. Name's Luca. Ahh, its fine. Laxus is the same way whenever we're in a pinch," he would say with a gesture of his eyes towards his Luxio. "Ain't that right, buddy?"

The Spark Pokemon's gaze went back to his trainer's at the mention of his name. A happy, "Lux!" could be heard as he smiled up at Luca.
