Discussion Thread: Memories of Regalo Del'Mar
The sun was high in the sky and beaming down on the topical islands of Regalo Del’Mar. The temperatures were well over thirty degrees Celsius as was the norm, particularly during the summer days, and the people of the various tribes were bustling about their daily lives. Men were out fishing, hunting or training, women were working on crafts or gathering fruit, and the children were either assisting the adults to a fashion, just playing around with each other and some of the local Pokémon, or being watched by the so called ‘Den Mothers’, depending on their age.
Young Salem Archon was a boy that technically should still be watched when venturing out, but was often too adventurous for anyone to really handle. Anyone but his older sister Lyrana that is, who had the day job of looking after her active little brother as his private Den Mother, a job she loved doing.
Salem had recently turned seven when the longest day in summer had passed, the Summer Solstice. He still only stood half a man tall, had a lean figure, wild white-blonde hair, and sparkling sea-green eyes. His skin was a dark tan like that of all the islanders and his clothes… Well his clothes were often missing. Granted his regular attire was normally hardly more than a simple white cloth wrapped around his waist, but with the amount of time the boy spend in the water he was more often naked than not. Right now he was wearing his regular attire.
It wasn’t a strange thing in this region. Many people, young and old were mostly naked. Having no concept of modesty, and often finding excessive amounts of clothes to only get it the way, it wasn’t uncommon to see a man or a woman in their birthday suit. It were the elderly that were more covered up than most. Their activities being generally less physical, and while modesty wasn’t highly rated, it was still more tasteful to keep aging bodies mostly covered up.
Salem at the end of the pier, on the relatively new harbor section of Acedia Island. He was loudly admiring the massive, modern looking boat that had arrived a couple of days ago. A ‘Yacht’ the shippers had called it, and it was big enough to have a name of its own.
‘Vague d’Argent’ it read on the side of the vessel in graceful lettering. The ship came from a place called Kalos, Salem had learned, and there they spoke ‘French’, whatever that was. He had wondered about why anyone would name such a magnificent looking vessel a ‘vague agent’ or was that just a misspelling of the words fake agent, vacant, or perhaps, vacation… ent?
It didn’t really matter, he had given up on figuring out the name before long and had instead focused his attention on the people that came with it. They were all incredibly pale skinned and surprisingly large, the men at least. His father had told him that the ship belonged to some really smart guy who had questions about the island, and that he would be busy showing that man around.
Salem hadn’t been too interested in the smart guy though, he had seen a really small girl on the ship from time to time, and she had caught his interest. Perhaps a new playmate? He wondered if she could swim, or climb trees, because Salem had heard that foreigners don’t do these things much, if at all.
Walking up and down the length of the ship, he was looking to see if he could spot the girl anywhere. He was eager to meet her but so far she hadn’t left the ship, not once.
After a few minutes he gave up and turned to leave, deciding he would check again later. There were other exciting things to be done. His brothers were going to teach him how to dive for pearls for example.
