Since we established now that the mist is their only trade partner that gives herbs and meats, that drastically limits the people that the leaf can turn to. Since their leader is currently taken out, and as they have issue after another popping up left and right between a war effort, repairing the village, reconstructing the village wall, healing those from the attack, and healing those from the recovery mission. I would be quite surprised if they had any steel or medical supplies left over period, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the wounded were lining up for treatment they couldn’t get. Especially with most of the staff selectively targeted and slaughtered as well.

Meanwhile the mist could not only supply the herbs, equipment, and supplies, but they could also give humanitarian aid with physicians, manpower, and other needs to hasten the healing rate of their people and also rebuild their society from recovery. Rather than be another obstacle for the leaf to face
