Need help finding Magmar in Leaf Green

Hey, I decided to start up my Leaf Green game after months of inactivity to help round out my Pokedex in Fire Red (waiting for Platinum before I jump headfirst into Gen. IV).
Anyway I see that Magmar can be found at Mt. Ember on One Island. I've been all over that place and I have yet to find the bugger. Does he only appear after you've beaten the Elite Four and get the National PokeDex, or is he just really rare?

Hmmmm....Like you said, Magmar is found in the grass outside Mt. Ember. But you can find it before you beat the Elite 4 as far as I know. I did. And yes it's rare so you may be looking a while. Don't give up. ^^

Thanks for the reply. Kind of strange that you would gave to beat the E4 to find it, as it's one of the Gen. I Pokemon, but I'm thinking that is the case. I've been searching long enough that I should have run into at least one by now, even if he is rare.

Keep trying Agent Zero, some rare pokemon can take forever to find while others are extremely easy. Take my diamond version for example, I spent at least a total of 13 hours (and still counting) looking for a snorunt with the radar but still don't have one. On the other hand, I found a male nidoran that is extremely rare for diamond the instant I used it (2% on diamond and 20% for the female one, vice versa for pearl) the instant I started searching. You just have to keep trying, it should happen eventually.

P.S. You probably don't have a radar on leaf green so forget that. And Reina is correct about the elite four

when you posted, you could see that...... and now you don't.
Now I'm typing *scribbles 'now I'm not' on paper*
If I told you where I got that from, it will ruin the point of the topic. And remember Agent, keep searching! Even if someone tells you it's on fire red (which it's not)
