Omnipotent Sins

(Star Wars fic. This takes place before the Legacy of the Force books, just to let you die-hard fans know...it is also EU/AU. It will be omniscient, but I will try to make it easy to understand...you WILL KNOW when I've switched to another character.)

Prologue- Malevolence

The dark sky of Umbara did not lessen the gloom of today's event. Always in darkness, Umbara was a main planet in the Ghost Nebula, and the only light came from ultraviolet rays cast by massive stars from the center. To the Umbarans, this was all the light they needed, for they could peer into the ultraviolet spectrum and also had spectacular vision at pitch-black levels of darkness.

Today was the execution of noble Har Shendo, and he was to be executed by an adolescent Umbaran of the age of sixteen standard years. The Umbaran culture, unlike many others, smiled upon execution: it showed the cunning and stealth of the Umbarans, who usually were in politics. Long ago, during the age of the Brotherhood of Darkness, Umbara had had a Sith Academy on it, but was abandoned after their separation. In front of the ruins of the academy, the execution was taking place.

Har Shendo was taller than the average Umbaran, standing at one ninety meters tall. Like others, he had pale skin, sunken eyes, and a hairless skull. He had black eyes that made him look a tad bit eerie. Shendo was stripped of his Shadowcloak, a cloak made by Umbarans that was made in a multitude of strands in varying shades of blue, that turned into every known color when hit by ultraviolet light, a cloak that essentially turned the wearer invisible when such a condition was met.

Shendo kneeled down before a block of wood, and placed his neck on the top so his head would be on one side. His executioner strode up to him, an extremely dull vibroaxe in his hands. Har Shendo was to be beheaded. He looked into his executioner's eyes and saw how young he was. The executioner was about one-sixty meters tall, had light purple skin, and turquoise eyes that glowed by the surrounding skin color.

'How strange,' the exectutioner thought. 'Me, only sixteen years of age, will be able to break free of Umbara's hold and travel the galaxy, and all I have to do is kill this man.' Nobody said any sort of prayer over Shendo, he didn't deserve one.

"What is your name?" Shendo asked.

"Ren Zythro." he replied. Ren brought the vibroaxe up, then swung it down upon Shendo's neck. The axe only cut about an inch in, blood splattering about the small little platform. Shendo cried out in pain, but was chopped again by Zythro, the blade cutting in only the same amount as before. This was going to be a slow death for Shendo.

Zythro chopped again, and again, this time meeting the spinal cord's beginning, blood spraying the audience. Shendo screamed his lungs out, the pain obviously intense. Ren's turquoise eyes glowed, then he reached for Shendo and turned him around, intending for more suffering. He brought the vibroaxe down to the throat and slit it, the blood pouring down the body and onto Ren's boot.

He cut the jugular vein and let the blood spray the audience. He then began to saw the neck until he reached the spinal cord, then just left Har Shendo's body to bleed.

Ah, another wonderful fic from Thrawn. I love how you started off with an execution, sheer genius! As Secad said, keep writting!

Chapter 1- It Ends Tonight
{5 years later}
The Rootai Council, the highest ranking Umbarans on the planet, decided to give Ren a chance at something political. He was sent to Coruscant to become an aide to the Umbaran senator, Senator Ras Cahl, who took to Ren immediately.

Ren had swiftly risen through Cahl's expectations, and was marked down as his successor. Ren had performed several feats worthy of Umbarans: he had manipulated the minds of other politicians(mind manipulation was something most Umbarans could do naturally), planned a couple assassinations, and most importantly, made good friends with the right people in order to establish him as a force to be reckoned with.

Right now, he was sitting in a tavern called the Immortal Cobalt, a relatively popular bar on the middle levels of Coruscant. Ren Zythros was wearing his Shadowcloak, and his light purple skin glowed in the dim light, his turquoise eyes shining like twin moons.
A man in a black cloak sat at the bar next to Ren, drinking what appeared to be Corellian Ale.

Ren looked into the mirror on the wall behind the bar, and saw that the man had bright emerald eyes, messy black hair, and a tan complexion. But something didn't seem human about him...his eyes. They were too green, way too green. They had an unnatural light behind them.

"Excuse me, sir, but I don't think I've seen your species before. Would you mind telling me?" Ren asked. The man didn't answer, he just kept drinking. Ren instead tried to probe his mind.

Ren closed his eyes and focused upon the stranger's thoughts. He saw them swim past him rapidly, but he kept delving deeper into this man's mind. Ren was sure the stranger didn't know he was doing this, because almost nobody ever did. Ren came across the central part of the mind, a sphere with transparent screens of various sizes surrounding it from the cardinal directions, some staying to be accessed, others zooming off and being replaced by more. Ren's inner self came closer, but was suddenly sent flying out by some unknown force.

Ren opened his eyes, startled. The stranger must have caught this, because he suddenly said "You cannot find what you seek that way." His voice was authorative, but not commanding. "I am a Zelosian."

"A Zelosian? Why are you here in the dead of night, a time when you are incapable of sight?" Ren asked. Zelosians were somewhat plant-like: they had liquid chlorophyll for blood, eyes in varying shades of green, tan skin, and were virtually blind in the dark.

"I see using my well-developed powers; powers that I use to see more than through sight. I can see your potential, and I'm going to give you that chance." the man said.

"What do you mean?" Ren asked, a bit confused.

"I have made a connection with you, a connection that cannot easily be broken by any means that you know of. I can take you and turn you into something you have seen only in your nightmares."

Chapter 2-Curse
"I have made a connection with you, a connection that cannot easily be broken by any means that you know of. I can take you and turn you into something you have seen only in your nightmares." the Zelosian said. It was strange, the feeling that now enveloped Ren. Umbarans normally would love the oppurtunity that this man spoke of, but something about it disturbed Ren.

Unbelieving, Ren said "Whoa there, buddy. I think you may have had too many drinks." He quickly exited the bar, shaking his head. "Okay, that didn't happen. I must be overstressed from work or something. Yeah. That must be it." he reassured.

Ren turned a corner and hailed a airtaxi. He told the driver to take him to the nearest spaceport, and was obliged. Traffic zoomed by all around outside the cab, but Ren paid no attention, for all of his focus was getting away from that man.

He quickly got to the nearest cruise ship that he could find once he got out, and found a haven in a small S-280 Elysium cruiser piloted by a man who was happy to escort him off-planet. The Sky Piercer took off after a few minutes, clearing the atmosphere and getting ever-closer to leaving Coruscant.

"So where are you headed again?" Shamni Parmro, the captain, asked in heavily accented Basic. Parmro was a Coruscant-native Twi'lek, but strangely didn't speak Basic as his main language.

"I'm heading to Nar Shaddaa." Ren answered calmly, but with a barely noticable hint of nervousness.

"The Smuggler's Moon, eh? Nice place...if you're a bounty hunter or smuggler. I hardly ever go there, but now that I'm taking you, I remembered that someone there owes me a debt."
---
The journey through hyperspace was short-lived, but good for Ren Zythros in every aspect. Not only had he put several parsects between himself and the Zelosian, but he was sure to be able to sort things out and make some sort of plan while he was here.

Ren nodded goodbye to Parmro, then headed inside a building. He looked around and saw a myriad of species drinking, smoking, playing sabaac, talking, as well as doing several things that were unbefitting of the public.

He stepped into the sabaac room, his Shadowcloak swirling behind him, and took a seat. Ren was the only Umbaran here, but there were also several humans and a Chiss. The Chiss looked as if he were controlling the table, but didn't seemed unnerved when he looked at Ren. The natural cold stare of an Umbaran didn't phase him at all compared to the other players.

"Mind if I join in?" Ren asked, not taking his eyes off the Chiss.

"Sure thing." the Chiss said, smiling. "I'm Vaun by the way, and I'll be glad to take your credits." His pure red eyes told Ren that it would be hard to read his face...and his mind.
