It's one of the best original RPGs to hit the GCN, but do you think its as good as they say? For anyone who's played it, give us your opinion: Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, or Bad and why you think so. A rating out of 10 (10 being highest) works too.

I'm only about 11 hours into the game so far but I'm very impressed with everything about it. Likable characters, a nice developing plot, awesome battle system, good music, and tons of little extras. I love how your character's title can change their stat growth, and how mastering the battle system takes effort and strategy. It sure beats the usual "Hit a bunch of buttons then watch what happens" system of turn-based RPGs.

Something minor that I dislike about the game is starting to surface, though. It seems to suffer from the common "Mindless chatter" of many RPGs, aka. when NPC say random, pointless things. I always talk to everyone I meet in a game and pointless talking gets on my nerves. A little of it is fine, but when a whole house of people say nothing of value (like a gameplay hint, something related to events in the plot, the history of the planet, etc.) it turns into a waste of time. Mind you, ToS doesn't do it as often as some RPGs have... like Grandia II >_<

Overall it's shaping up to be a great RPG, and I'd probably give it an 8.5 out of ten. That may change as I play further, hopefully for the best.

P.S. - Am I the only one who thinks the plot is a bit too Secret of Mana-ish? ;)

EDIT:

Alright, besides the existance of a tree it has nothing to do with Secret of Mana. And what was I, crazy?! 8.5 is way too low for the game that just became my favourite 4th RPG! Tales of Symphonia was amazing. Everyone who calls themselves an "RPG Fan" must buy it! :D
