Welcome to Sanzai; a snowy region far to the north of the world. However, this was not always the case. Three hundred years ago, Sanzai was a peaceful and luscious region, filled with beautiful wildlife. That, however, changed when a meteor struck the region, impacting the wildlife forever. A great smoke cloud covered the region, plunging it into a great and eternal winter. Mystery dungeons started to pop up as a result.
The region divided into two factions, the Eternal Alliance and the Saiban Syndicate, the Adventurers of Sanzai are divided by those that would help others, and those that would seek fame and fortune at the expense of others. EA wants to help, SS expenses. This world's guilds, but one is good, one is bad. Something's brewing in the air… It’s quiet, which is a little odd for the bustling town. Pokémon are fearing the mystery dungeons once again, Pokémon in the dungeons becoming more aggressive as time goes on, and a dark force lurks in the shadows. Something must be done before all is lost.
Shadow Pokémon: Shadow Pokémon are those infected with darkness. Their appearance turned darker with red eyes. The victim’s heart is infused with darkness, cutting off all light in it, allowing the shadows to spread and consume the Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon are also far stronger than normal and have a drive for battle and fighting. They are incredibly violent and stronger than normal Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon are able to appear like their normal selves should their corrupter allow it to better blend in and strike from the inside. The one who corrupted them can also take away the shadows that infected them. Certain Shadow Pokémon are able to corrupt with a shadow infused wisp that infects the victim with shadows, making them completely loyal and obedient to whoever used it.
Other ways Shadows can be created are as followed:
They're created when a massive amount of energy is released by a being with an overwhelming amount of negativity, which creates a separate entity. Either that or the amount of negativity is great enough that it begins corrupting its host, which is sped along by any corrupting auras.
In one of the rarer cases, a host perishes along with a massive amount of negativity, in which case the shadow aura consumes the host. In almost all cases, should the transformation be stopped, the host will lose all memories, but still be able to harness the shadows.
A shadow's aura begins corrupting an unprotected host. This is the most common means of creating shadows, and can be easily protected against with a special charm. The Shadow Aura as it's called, as stated, is the most common way Shadow 'Mon are created and how our main villain is infecting others. The Shadow Aura can be as simple as placing a paw on another, allowing the shadows to seep into the victim, infecting them with shadows, or a long shadowy wisp that connects to the victim and consumes them that way.
Shadows that weren't infected by someone else, for instance, the first two ways, they will obey no one. Though, they can ally themselves with others if they so choose. Shadows that were infected by a stone or the aura, will be completely loyal to that Monsuuta. In rare cases, they can break free from the control and do their own thing.
A Shadow Crystal can also be used to infect another with shadows, allowing the darkness to take hold and corrupt the victim. For those who are corrupted, the crystal can be used to heal them.
Using a Last Resort can also turn the user into a shadow. The user must be under an intense amount of emotional stress. If these are met, after the Last Resort, the user will push themselves to keep using the energy that surrounds them, even if there's nothing left. At this point, observers will begin to see darkness replacing the energy surrounding the user. If the user is strong enough, the darkness will split from the host and turn into a dark copy of them. If not, the user will be consumed by the shadows.
Last Resorts: As the name implies, Last Resorts are final moves that a user can pull when they're at the end of their rope. They are powerful attacks, often using up all the remaining power and strength of the user in one single strike, often becoming deadly to the surrounding beings. This becomes incredibly intense for the user and always causes them to faint afterward. Usually, Last Resorts are linked to an item that the user has, though sometimes it can be linked to their soul. This attack has been known to affect the user in many ways over its duration, such as injuring them or even stopping their heart and pulse, though Last Resorts have been known to even go as far as to kill the user if they’re not in control. Last Resorts are also able to link to the creations of Shadows. When the user is in deep emotional pain, and as it has been noted that Shadows CAN use Last Resorts without fainting, as they are always in a state of using the energy that surrounds one during a Last Resort.
To sum it up: Last Resorts are just Pokémon putting their all into one final attack, hoping to win, but can corrupt them into Shadows, or even kill them.
