Pokémon Glossary

Preface
This is a list of rules, changes, quirks, and otherwise that I add to the pokémon world in my RPs. It seeks to provide a fun and semi-realistic world for a pokemon RP and draws from the Anime, Manga, Games, Fan-Theories—the whole Oeuvre.
.

This glossary will update and change as I stumble upon new ideas and theories.

The Pokémon League

The Pokémon League is the body that governs pokémon trainers and pokémon-related competitions. Most notably, they're responsible for the annual Gym circuit and League conference which are the aims of many aspiring trainers.

Each of the Major regions has its own Pokémon League and most Leagues occur on a 9-month season with three months off:

Kanto: Red Conference — Runs Jan – Sept.

Johto: Silver Conference — Runs Feb – Oct.

Kanto-Johto Unified: Indigo Conference — Runs Jan – Dec.

Hoenn: Ever Grande Conference — Runs March – Nov.

Sinnoh: Lily of the Valley Conference — Runs April – Dec.

Unova: Ventress Conference — Runs May – Jan.

Kalos: Lumiose Conference — Runs June – Feb.

Alola: Manalo Conference — Runs July – Mar.

Galar: Galar League — Runs Aug – April.

Paldea: Paldean League — Runs Sept – May.

The Winner of a league conference can apply for the respective region's Champion League. This is where they face the Elite Four and Champion.

The Indigo Champion League is unique and requires completion of the Indigo Conference.

RP Changes to the Gym Challenge

Gyms in all regions can be challenged in any order and are test trainers for a benchmark of competency:

1st & 2nd Badge
Knowledge of the Type Advantage Chart.

3rd & 4th Badge
Introduces Set-up, Status moves, and Field Hazards.

5th & 6th Badge
Introduce more complex strategies: Stall, Weather teams, Terrain sweepers/abusers, etc.

7th & 8th Badge
Introduces environmental facts: includes battle types and battlefields that are beneficial to the gym leader's pokemon, such as underwater, sky battles, etc.

Before the battle, the challenger's pokemon will be assessed so that they face pokemon who are equivalent in strength.

To further spice things up, the Gym challenges have been expanded!

Gym Challenge Formats

Singles

Vanilla Gym Challenge; face the Gym Leader or a designated substitute in Single Battle Format.

Gauntlet

The Gauntlet is an endurance-styled series of battles against four (4) Gym trainers and then, the Gym leader; battles are back-to-back, intended to push the trainer's long-term battle and planning skills.

Battles will take place in Single Battle Format and Trainers will only be allowed four (4) healing items across ALL their fights.

Doubles

Face the Gym Leader or a designated substitute in Double Battle Format.

Doubles Gauntlet

Challenge the gym in Gauntlet format; however, battles take place in Double battle format. The challenge will face two (2) Gym trainers and then the gym leader.

Trainers will only be allowed two (2) healing items across ALL their fights.

Elite

A Vanilla-style challenge with one catch; the Gym leader will use pokemon an entire tier above the challenger. The challenger will be forced to use their wits to overcome a superior foe!

Ace

Grants the coveted title of 『Ace Trainer』.

???

Challenge the Gym Leader's personal team. This provides trainers with a unique badge; however, beware...a Gym Leader using their personal team need not hold back.

Challengers should expect Gym Leaders to bring their A-game, including but not limited to the usage of Mega Evolution, Dynamax, Z-moves, or otherwise... provided the challenger is strong enough to warrant such power.

Challenge Restrictions

Trainers can add a series of restrictions to make the gym challenge harder. Each challenge increases the potential payout of a victory.

Plight of the Weak

Challenger may only use pokemon with a weakness to the gym's type.
