Jag opened his eyes. He rubbed his aching head. Last thing he remembered was that he logged onto Scanners. He looked around. He had no idea where he was. He was near giant green hills that seemed to go into the horizon. He let out a breath as he turned the other way. He saw what looked like a gate to a city. He let out a breath as he walked towards it. He immediately stopped when he saw the name Hub central written in big letters. ' That's weird.' he thought.

Hub Central was considered one of the trading outposts in the land of Nameria. The country the game Scanners takes place in.

" this can't be right." He thought. He might've logged onto the game but the graphics never looked so life like let alone the fact that he can feel everything. he tried to activate his menu but realized that he couldn't. ' What's going on.' He thought as he walked into the rundown town. He walked into the pub and wondered what might be going on. He sat at the far left table as he checked his clothes. He pulled out a bag and counted what was inside of it. twenty hundred thousand berries. The small gold coin that acts as currency. ' well at least I have my money here.' He thought as he sat down. He waited to see if any other player character might enter the bar.

TheConquestodor logged onto the game. He heard that an update came out, but he wasn't expecting all this. The whole world seemed unnaturally real. As he was breathtaking from the new graphics, his business partner came into his spawn room. "Con, the west shore needs more viagera Steel, and the East is on a low supply. What do we do?" Con sighed, and walked through the door, holding his clipboard with information skewed all over it. "Transfer from the supply room, and send more Berries to the East." He said to his partner. Con was the leader of one of the many black markets in the game of Scanners. His partner ran out of the room to carry out the orders. Con was now inside one of his storerooms at Hub Central. Here, anyone could make orders. But prices could get costy.

' So am I trapped in the game?' he wondered. ' Do I still have all of my character's abilities.' He let out a breath as he concentrated on his hand. He saw small bolts of electricity moving across his hand making an eerie sound like that of birds chipping. He looked up and saw the Locals looking at him.
" Mate read the sign." One of them said. Jag turned his head and read the sign. " No powers allowed."
'Weird.' He thought as he powered down. 'usually they would just attack you when you did that. Are they independent thinking.' He shook his head as he walked out of the pub. He went to a dark ally way. " I wonder if Con and the other person might be here. Or maybe the admins took care of him before it was too late. He knocked on the door twice before leaning against the wall.

Con was walking through the shop and heard the door knock. "Well, let's open the wall." He said to himself. Con just changed the door to an illusional wall. He walked over to the wall and hit a button. The door phased out for three seconds, revealing a man leaning on the wall. He saw it was an old pal, Jag. "What do you want?" He asked the person.

" Hey good to see that your still here." He said before giving the man a small smile. " Do me a favor and open your menu." He said. If he was right then Con won't be able to. If he is wrong then there must be glitch with him.

Con looked down at a watch he wore. "Whatcha want?" He asked, pulling the person inside. He hit the door back on, concealing the show again. Con made a pinching motion, pulling up a screen menu. "Like my new toy? Instant access anywhere." He pulled up a search bar, waiting for the response.

" Well I guess I'm glitched then." He said taking a few steps back as to not effect Con. " I can't open the menu." He said as he went threw the motions of doing it. " Also you notice how well the graphics are now." He said.

Con looked over at Jag. He tried making the motions as well. Nothing happened. "Must have been the update. That's what the graphics were about. Didn't you check the update log? It said revamped textures." He waved over an employee. "Get another Menu Tab." The worker ran off to the storage room to get another watch like Con's. "How long has that been happening?"

" Yeah I realized the update. Hell it went offline for three months because of the update." He said as he walked around. " Also have you actually taken time to smell and touch things?" He asked. " It's like you can feel and touch everything now." He said.

"Not really. Been busy. The West needed some more viagera." Con turned to his pal. "Yes, I know that's illegal. But that's why they want it." The employee who was sent away came back and handed the watch to Con. He then handed it to Jag. "Here, try that. Also, why did you come? Nobody's supposed to come here."

Eclipse logged onto Scanners, a bit disappointed in himself. He had hoped to get online earlier, but making websites do take a while. Eclipse closed his eyes and thought to himself,"I better start grinding. Maybe I can level up. Heh. Yeah right." He opened his eyes and was a bit shocked. "The hell is this? This doesn't look like Scanners! I knew the update was supposed to be super amazing or something, but this feels like real life. And why the hell do my hands feel like they are from real life. The hell is going on?!" he shouted a bit ludicrously. Others began staring at him, but quickly turned away as soon as Eclipse also made eye contact. He looked up at a sign that said "Hub Central."

Eclipse shook his head and thought,"It's still a game. Relax. That's probably just a fake, virtual sign. I didn't actually just appear in a country hundreds of miles away from where I live. I should probably start getting a Speed Training Item so I can begin my grinding session." He looked around and saw that all the prices for items were nearly an eighth of what he had. Eclipse slyly grinned as he took out his money. 480,000 berries. "Those useless items I found turned out to have a purpose. Money," he thought still grinning. Eclipse decided to rest on a bench to relax and get more into the game.

" Just had to make sure about a few things." He said before taking out his money bag. He looked at Con. " How much do I owe you?" He asked.

Con looked down at the cash. "The thing costs more than you could make in a year. Just take it, and get out, alright?" He turned and walked back to his office.

ReHelloDarkness looked around at the world that he usually logged into, He felt that it was different from when he usually logged in. He went over to his friend, TheConquistador's shop. "Hey dude, is it me or are things different around here?"

Jag walked off. He looked at the device. " Must've been hacked in." He thought as he walked out of the city. " Time to check on different quests." He looked at his watch and saw it start to degrade. " What the hell." he thought. He shook his head as he walked towards the exit of the town.

Eclipse left his bench and passed by someone who was leaving the town. He felt something with that person, but decided to ignore him and head to his destination. He was looking for his favorite black market seller and saw someone go inside a wall. Eclipse smiled and thought,"Guess I found him." He followed the person inside and looked at the usernames in the room. "ReHelloDarkness" and "TheConquestodor." Eclipse looked at Re and said,"Yeah. There's definitely something off," and then he looked back at Con. "But I still need something. The prices here are crazy as hell and I'm looking to grind in my Speed today. Got anything cheap and useful?" he asked casually.

Knightingale stretched after popping into scanners. The girl having immediately taken to doing a quick run around the hub but now sat outside the pub. She walked inside, grabbing a table to look around. Her hands glided over the wood of the table as she shuffled and her lips twitched into a smile at the feeling.

"Hey Eclipse, where can you find a place to strengthen your element?" Re was looking at Eclipse's nametag, so he knew what his name was. He hoped that Scanners wasn't broken or else he was going to have words with the creators of the game, and one of those words would begin with f.

Jag stopped when he saw a few Brahmen. A type of cow in the game. They usually faught back. " Alright." he said as he activated his watch menu. He went to his attack moves and selected electric ball. While in hostile areas you're able to use simple commands to activate powers while in a non hostile place you needed to select attack. Electric ball was a simple electic based attack."
He put his hand out ready to attack but nothing happened. ' What?' he thought

he continued to put his hand out but nothing was happening. "Electric go." He said as he imitated spider man's move. He continued moving his hand in multiple ways unable to attack the cow. " What the fuck." He said. He growled before taking a step foreword he felt his body glow as he ran uncontrollable into a tree. " What the hell is goin on." he said. " I didn't activate my speed boost."

Halt pulled up the menu chart again from his watch. "Yea, whatcha want. You want something to train, I can get you a job." He moved some tabs around, changing it to a job page. He then turned to Re. "Depends on your element. I find volcano's best for my powers."

"Thanks," Eclipse said looking at a job. He decided this would be best for a day of training so he got it. "Also, uhh Re. I agree with Halt. For me... I usually am in a cave or in the grass," he told Re. He hoped they would think he was a grass and earth elemental. The caves he usually trains his dark element and in the grass he can collect sunlight and then use the light to attack. "I've learned that training your elements level you up faster than training your statistics. I usually spend one or two days on my statistics to get a bit of experience than train on my elements to finally level up. It's nice to keep everything... balanced. Anyways, I'm off," he said while leaving the room.

He began going to do the job and then saw Jag again. This time he looked at his name and level and deciding he might be a little bit worth of his time. He tried to see what Jag could do by trying to see his fight against the Brahmen. He wondered why he wasn't doing anything and then he saw Jag go to a tree. "What the hell are you doing? Are you insane, or do you just like trees so much? Don't you have control over your powers or something? This isn't even a hostile place," he shouted.

Jag tried to stand up. " God that was painful." He said as he looked at the tree. He then looked at the guy that was scolding him. " I tried to do some target practice with the brahmen." He said as he look at the man he saw that he was named Eclipse. " I couldn't do any of my attacks and when I tried running I somehow activated my speed boost resulting in me getting another bad headache."

Re thanked Con and Eclipse for the advice, he then went to a high cliff to train his Air element. The cliff also had a meadow so training his grass element wasn't hard either. Re did come across an couple of large vultures, but he was prepared for them, he tried to send a powerful gust to keep them away, but nothing happened. So he unintentionally used his gauntlets to kill them. "What is going on?" Re usually had no trouble summoning powerful gust of wind, he tried using his other element, but nothing happened. "Is there a glitch in The system?"

Jag looked at the man named eclipse for what felt like hours. 'The man scolds me then remains completely silent.' He shook his head as he stood up. " Look I think something might be going on. Check your menu when you get a chance. If it doesn't work head to the pub in Hub city and we'll talk there." He said as he stood up and started to walk away. ' It's as if I need to learn control now.' He thought as he walked towards the pub. He went inside as everyone looked at him. " Relax I'm not going to power up again." He said as he sat down at a table opposite to some woman in a red blouse. He looked up and saw the name Knightingale.

"Hello," Knightingale waved before she went back to examining the world around her. She turned her attention to the people around her as she tapped her fingers, ears picking up chunks of conversation. When it clicked in her head that the person she had just waved to had a name tag she turned back to him, "oh! Another player. How are you liking the new update"?

Eventually, Re made his way back to town where he saw Jag and a female player with the gamertag Knightingale. He decided to go over and tell his fellow players what happened, "Hi Jag, and Knightingale, nice to meet you. I was on a cliff with a meadow to train my two elements, but my elements weren't working, same with my gear. Do you think there is a glitch in The system?" Re knew he needed answers, but first he needed more information.

Jag first looked at Knightingale. " A little bit it's more life like that's for sure." He said as he felt his table. It was like he could feel the wood. He then turned to Re. " You too huh." He said. " Can you both try and open up your menus" he asked. " I need to confirm something." He said as he kept his eyes on them.

Knightingale nodded and raised her hand to pull up her menu. When it didn't appear she tried three more times, eyebrows scrunching together in frustration. She raised her head to look at her companions, "not working. I haven't tried my powers but we aren't allowed to in here".

Jag nodded. " So it isn't just me then." He said. " Since I logged in everything just felt different." He said as he looked at them. " I think we can still use are powers we just need to learn how to again." He said as he stood up and took a seat at Knightingale's table. " I'm going to head to Nashara. My guild is located there I need to check to see if anyone else in my guild is here. Would either of you like to come along."

"I'll come along, I haven't been able to get my menu to open either so maybe someone in your guild has an answer."Re looked at Jag and Knightingale and told them, "I'm going to see if Con wants to come as well, I meet up with you once I have an answer."

"I got nothing else to do so yeah," Knightingale shrugged, leaning back to cross her arms over her chest. She looked around the pub one last time before taking a deep breath. She sat straight again and hummed, "it smells like your actually in a tavern".

Jag nodded his head in agreement to what Knightingale said. " Alright get what supplies you need and I'll meet you guys at the southern exit." He said as he stood up. He took a whiff of the Tavern. " It really does smell like a bar." He said before heading out.

"I'm heading to Nashara." He said looking at the man. " My guilds there and I need to see if they're here or not." He let out a breath as he looked the Con man in the eyes. " Something's going on and we need to get to the bottom of it. Your welcome to join us if you want." He said

"You mean what by somethings going on?" Con asked, looking back into his eyes, curiosity in them. "I'll join you, but I need to be filled in on the information." It would also help my training. I still need to cash in my levels from my marketing anyway.

" Alright." Jag said as he took a few steps back. " Without using any of your hacks." He said as he tapped the watch Con gave him. " Hit me with an elemental blast." He said as he looked at the man. " Hit me with all you got. I can take it."

"Oh, I know about the messed up controls. Why did you think I was going?" He asked. In truth, Con tested them out when he saw the people outside struggle. He was able to find one or two attacks, basic ones, he could start on first. "Also, no powers." He pointed to a nearby sign.

Knightingale followed Jag out. She watched their exchange before stepping forward. She crossed her arms over her chest before looking at the sign he pointed to, "actually. That is just for inside the tavern. Out here we are free to use them or atleast thats what I've observed".

" Right." He said as he looked at the sign. " Well there's that, everything is too damn life like, and let's not forget the menu's other than the one's you hacked in nobodies seems to be working." He said. " Though there is one more thing I want to try. Tell me do you have any bladed weapons on you." He asked.

"Always." Con said, kneeling to the ground. "I run a black market. I break the rules." He said, reaching down to the ground. Con could feel the metals through the ground, as his mind searched for the cavern that held his weapons. He hit it. Pulling up, two knives and a long, obsidian bladed sword, shot out of the ground latching onto Con's guards. He flipped the sword around and handed it to Jag.
