"Miss Simmons...Miss Simmons?"
The voice had been ringing in her head non-stop for almost 5 minutes now. It didn't look like she could avoid it any longer. He definitely knew she was there.
"I know you're there," he ascertained. "I can hear you groaning."
Crap, she thought to herself."I'm sorry, Mister Lance, I guess we'll have to end it here," she whispered to herself, as she finally opened the eyes she tried so valiantly to keep shut. She removed the fluffy pillow that was wrapped around her ears and groggily rose from her comfy mattress. Keeping the warm blanket dressed around her, she slowly made her way to the heavily ornate curtains that decorated the walls adjacent to her bed. As she grasped them tightly, she could make out the small, warm, ray of light that creeped in places the curtains could not cover. As soon as she pulled them away, she was bathed in a sea of warm sunlight. It blinded her for a moment, and as she rubbed her eyes in annoyance she made her way back to her bed's side in search of her watch. Her eyes focussed on the red gadget in her palm, and found that it was already ten in the morning. She turned back to find that the Sun was indeed high in the sky, still buffeting everything with a raging glow.
The woman quickly returned to the windows and peered down from where she was standing. Several feet below, past the many bricks that formed the side of the palace, the small kingdom of Aldoran was abuzz with activity. Men, women and even children ran about the streets, their hands filled with all sorts of things, ranging from colorful decorations, to even more colorful clothes as well as a wide array of berries and sacks of food stuffs. Some men were atop ladders mounting banners and streamers of all sorts, with their feathered frineds helping them. Apart from flying Pokemon, she also noticed a fair number of Machoke heaving huge sacks from house to house, and several Ponytas running about, drawing carriages filled with people or wagons full of flowers and more supplies. Seeing all these people running about under the blazing inferno of the day's light certainly made her feel comfortable where she stood, in one of the many rooms located in the palace.
As she thought this, she tapped her knuckles against her noggin, and heaved a heavy sigh. No doubt she was going to be subjected to something ten times more rigorous today. And as she thought this, she suddenly remembered the source of all her imminent troubles, and that he was still waiting for her to answer the door.
The door quickly swung open before Chuck, revealing his rather annoyed partner behind it. Seeing her pursed lips, mussed up hair and heavily blinking eyes made him slightly nervous, and yet somehow he also had half a mind to snicker at the situation, yet his awareness of the consequences stopped him from uttering any sort of sound from his mouth. "Miss Simmons," he started, before being interrupted by a finger raised between his eyes.
"It's Andy, Chuck," the woman told him quietly. "No one in Voice calls me that, and if anyone back in the office even heard you calling me that, I won't hear the end of it," she finished, before suddenly adding, "Plus, I'm pretty sure Dick will probably plaster my picture on the front page."
There was a long pause, as though the two of them were waiting for some sort of disembodied laughter to arise from somewhere. Sadly, there wasn't such a thing, despite the fact that it would have been rather loud and would echo for hours across the long hallway. Finally, Chuck returned to his original train of thought. "Right. Well, as much as I'd like to find out more about why I never see you at the office, we really don't have time for that." Compulsively, he removed his glasses and began to wipe them on his shirt. With a sigh, he began to explain what had occurred while Andy laid in bed, dreaming about an exclusive interview she had with Johto's current League Champion.
"Lady Aileen's already making her way downstairs to check up on the preparations for the festival tomorrow," Chuck explained. Andy thought about this for a while, with which she responded asking "How much time do I have until the carriage leaves?" "About thirty minutes," Chuck replied flatly. With that, Andy shut the door. Loud, thumping footsteps could be heard behind it, denoting that whatever she was going to do, she had to be down there in thirty minutes.
Andy fumbled through the many knick-knacks that covered the table. She picked out several bottles and packets hidden under her clothes and in her bag. Rushing into the bathroom, she pulled out two small round objects from her pants' pocket. The two enlarged themselves in her hand as she called out the names of the Pokemon that dwell inside them. "Sealeo, Drifblim, come out!" she called hurriedly, and as she did, white light erupted from the Pokeballs she grasped, and a pair of objects began to materialize in front of her.
Andy honestly didn't consider whether two large Pokemon would fit in the bathroom, but somehow they did anyway. Her Sealeo, a bright pink Pokemon resembling a seal came into view first, followed by a purple, round Pokemon that was floating in the air, whose traits denoted it was her Drifblim. "Water Pulse, Sealeo!" she ordered quickly. Sealeo barked happily in response, and began to summon an orb of glowing water in its mouth. It shot the orb towards its Trainer who was knocked back by the impact and was completely soaked. Andy quickly got back up and then instructed her Driblim to use Gust.Drifblim's eyes began to glow and soon, a light breeze began to emanate out of nowhere.
All the while, Chuck remained outside, quietly listening in on his partner's panicked race to get ready. He could make out her voice yelling for the names of two Pokemon, followed by the popping noise Pokeballs are known for. He was quite surprised to hear that she called out her Pokemon. He quickly figured out what her intent was, and before he could say that she wouldn't, she did. A loud splash and a strong breeze later, Chuck stood nervously outside the door, utterly shocked by what had transcended behind the door just now. "What the heck did I do to deserve this?" He moaned to himself quietly.
With Twenty Minutes remaining, Andy emerged from her room, looking completely different. Chuck was bewildered to find her dressed neatly, her short hair no longer unkempt, but straight and shiny. There was yet another pause before Chuck noted that they had twenty minutes left to get downstairs to greet Lady Aileen. "No problem," sain Andy confidently, and with her purse around her shoulder, she closed her door and began to stride swiftly towards the staircase down the hall. Chuck followed her worriedly as she made her way around the curving hall and was out of sight. "I can see why I never see you at the office," he told her sarcastically. "Yeah, well I've never been much of a pencil-pusher. Out in the field is where it is!" She said energetically, raising her fist for added effect.
Several flights and a few wrong turns later, the pair finally made their way to the front gate, with their hands pressed against their hearts and more than a few lost breaths. With only five minutes left, the two had no more time to waste, and summoned up all their energy to get to the front gate. Chuck though, felt he had to waste his breath to make sure Andy knew what to do when she got there. "So you know the plan right?" He wheezed. Andy didn't bother with a verbal reply and just nodded. "I'm still not entirely sure about trusting your Pokemon with the equipment, though," he told her. "Don't worry about it, Drifblim's always been my eye from the sky. He can handle it," she replied confidently. "Keep your eyes on the prize," he continued. "A story showcasing Aldoran's annual festival is pretty good, but what we really want to know is why Lady Aileen's suddenly coming out with an auction for some of the Castle's artifacts," he explained. "Don't worry," she repeated. "I'll get to that one way or another," she said with a devious smile. "I'm hoping it won't be the other," Chuck replied with his ever familiar expression towards her. "Well, while I'm getting a one-on one interview and tour of the Castle, you try and do a background check on all these guests of hers. As far as we know, all they have in common is the number of zeros in their bank accounts and the digits in their ages, but there's definitely something going on between them."
As Chuck nodded to this, the guards opened the Palace's front doors. They slowly folded away, revealing a familiar warmth that coated the two as the morning Sun enveloped the magnificent front courtyard of Aldoran Palace in a brilliant glow. In its middle was a heavily ornate carriage with two Rapidash up front, ready to draw its passengers for a tour of the Castle's outer rim. A bright red carpet led the way towards the carriage, and Andy and Chuck followed it, finally positioning themselves in front, awaiting the Queen's arrival so that their meeting could begin.
Several minutes later, trumpets from deep within the castles began to blare out a short but regal tune to announce the arrival of a rather important person. Lady Aileen quietly emerged from the Castle's doors, her dress flowing exquisitely across the carpet as though she were not walking at all. The two reporters respectfully gave a deep bow to her. "Lady Aileen," Andy said in an unusually soft and formal tone. "Our Editor would like to extend his thanks that you might allow us, reporters from the Hyper Voice, to interview you with concerns to the events you have planned out for your kingdom this year." Aileen waved her hand gently and smiled towards her guests. "Please, the pleasure is all mine," she spoke in a voice that was several times softer and more elegant. "We must also thank your Editor for allowing our Castle and its traditions to grace the front page of your paper. Truly, we are not as well-known a tourist spot as you might think, but I hope that your readers might grow interested in the legends and traditions that surround out noble kingdom. I especially hope that we can pass down the important truths of this land's history to the next generation." She concluded.
"Those are very noble intentions, your highness," Chuck commented. "I am sure that we shall be able to fully understand and appreciate all this kingdom has to offer, and that what we learn here can then be appreciated by our readers." "Indeed," she nodded. "Then let us begin the tour of our kingdom. Today, we would like to show you the preparations we have made for this year's festival," and with a nod to the Guards, the Queen made her way up and into the carriage, with Andy following her. "If you don't mind, your Majesty, I would like my Pokemon to accompany us. He shall function as my Cameraman for today, so that others might be able to see what we will," Andy asked her highness. Lady Aileen smiled again in approval, and with that, Andy once again called upon the Balloon Pokemon to help her out.
Andy strapped a camera around the Pokemon's tail, and with that, it slowly took to the sky and began to hover over the open carriage. It's shadow against the Sun provided the two women with a shade of sorts, an incentive both were thankful for. With another majestic wave of her Highness's hand, they were off. The two Pokemon up front were trotting their way down the courtyard and out of the gates. Chuck stood there fo a while watching them disappear into the town. He once again removed his glasses to give them a good polish, quietly commenting to himself. "Geez, what a sweet person. If only she knew what kind of cutthroats these other guests of hers are." And with that he made his way back into the palace to begin his own investigations.
The carriage rode into town, and as it did, many of the townsfolk took notice. The children excitedly greeted the ruler of their kingdom, while the men and women smiled cheerfully at their sovereign. Andy could see that in such a small kingdom, everyone deeply trusted their leader, but this led her to wondering if they were as idealistic as she was. She looked back at her co-passenger, hoping to begin the interview. But for now, she decided to relax and watch as the Queen waved back to her subjects, exchanging a few smiles of her own. While riding, Andy kept silent, and looked at the many people hard at her work on her side of the carriage. She noticed a fair few people, who in comparison to some of the others, did not seem to dress in the kingdom's appropriate attire. A good handful of them weren't even working, but walking around and seemed to be as fascinated by the kingdom as she was. Some even had Pokemon out, Pokemon she had never seen native to this region. "It would seem, your Highness," she spoke quietly. "That a fair few guests have arrived earlier than expected." Aileen was aware of this and also noticed her fair share of Trainers and people touring the kingdom on foot. "They are probably here waiting to take part of the events tomorrow. We take pride in our annual Pokemon Tournament. As always, the trainer who wins the tournament is knighted as an Aura Guardian," she explained. "I've heard of such people living in the olden times," Andy replied excitedly. "They were people who could use Aura, a mysterious power that was once known only by Pokemon. If I remember the legend well, an Aura Guardian served your ancestors, correct?" Andy asked. It would seem the interview was going to begin now. "Yes," Aileen replied. "Sir Aaron is the very reason we hold this festival every year, in honor of his noble deeds."
"I don't suppose you know of any other Aura Guardian who served here alongside him, do you?"
"I'm afraid not, the History of the Aura Guardians is an enigmatic one. Their secrets have been lost to time. Sir Aaron himself passed his knowledge of Aura to his Pokemon, but did not seem to keep any written record of the techniques to wield Aura."
"That is a shame," Andy said, and the note of disappointment in her tone was quite sincere. She once again peered outside their transportation, looking at the mix of trainers and townsfolk. "I suppose the trainers who come here would certainly love to be treated as an Aura Guardian, even if no one can learn it anymore."
"Miss Simmons," the Queen suddenly spoke. "Will you be entering in the tournament tomorrow?"
"I honestly don't think I'd stand much of a chance, your Majesty," she said as her cheeks blushed. As the carriage continued its route, the two began to exchange questions, while overhead, Andy's Drifblim kept a watchful eye on all that they had seen.
Meanwhile, sinister eyes watched steadily as the carriage makes its way past the town's local tavern. On the building's top most floor, an enigmatic figure places himself near the window, peering out of it and viewing the people below.
From behind him, in a darkened part of the room, a cold and refined voice suddenly spoke. "Am I to expect that something might go wrong, tomorrow?" it asked. The man peering out the window squinted at this remark, and glared back at the source of the voice. "You can be sure, I won't definitely lose tomorrow," he said gruffly. "I should hope not," it replied. "The prize is the most important key to obtaining that which I desire. Know this, that you must recieve it at any cost. Else, consider our contract null and void."
The man by the window squinted again. It was apparent that his end of the bargain was at stake. "Rest assured, you'll get that prize, one way or another." he began to cackle at this comment. "And I do hope it will be the other," he said with a smirk.
OOC: Congratulations! You've reached the bottom of this Post. Yeah, this is preeeettty long. But then, this pretty much introduces two things, My Character and the Actual Plot and both are integrated. I'm fairly sure that's forgivable. So, As aforementioned in this RP's previous version, if you don't know, Aldoran Castle is the setting of the 8th Pokemon movie: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. HOWEVER, while the plot does involve Sir Aaron, and to a lesser extent, Lucario. This storyline DOESN'T involve Mew, the Regitrio and the Tree of Beginnings outside of legends (as no one truly knows what happened there save for Ash and his friends, and this story doesn't involve them either.) Heads will roll if I see someone randomly running in asking where Mew is or Talking about Ash and friends when no one else was there when it happened.
