The Coliseum (Private RP)

OoC: Private RP between myself and Soren.

BiC: It had been twenty-four hours since his capture. Nick Anderson sat on the small bed in the far end of his equally small cell. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was, nor why he was here. The last thing he remembered, he was in the middle of winning streak in a game of blackjack in a high end casino. Something had smacked him, hard, and he passed out. When he woke up, he was here.

The Halfer’s gray fur was disheveled, and he had more then a few small cuts running along his body. Luckily, he had been left with both his black three quarter pants and scarf to wear. To most, from far away, Nick looked like a cougar on its hind legs. The closer people got, the more they could see that he actually had a human’s body frame, just with the ears, muzzle, and tail of a mountain lion added on. He was a freak in this world, and he feared what might happen to him because of it.

There was a shackle on his leg, attaching him to the edge of his cell via a short chain. He wasn’t able to move very far from his bed. Though this allowed him some comfort, he wished he could at least pace around the room. All he could do was sit and wait for what ever was going to happen next.

Suddenly, the door to his cell opened, and a large man with a handgun walked in. He shot the chain, making Nick jump a bit. With the chain no longer connected to the wall, Nick considered making a break for it. However, the man’s gun made him think otherwise. He was forced to his feet, with the shackle and what remained of the chain still attached to his leg, and led out of the room.

The hallways were dark to the point that Nick could barely see where he was going. The man continued to lead him down the corridor, the muzzle of the gun shoved roughly into his back. When ever the man wanted him to turn, the gun was twisted, adding to the pain. After a few minutes, a light appeared. The two of them drew near it, until, finally entering a room with nothing but a skylight for a ceiling.

The light was blinding to the point that for a few moments Nick could barely see. The man pushed him further into the room, toppling him. Then he left, leaving the Halfer behind. A door of some sort slammed shut behind him. As soon as his vision returned, Nick could see he was in a coliseum-like area. The ground was covered in sand, and there were high walls separating him from a huge crowd that appeared to be roaring silently. After staring at the crowd for a moment, he could tell that there were behind glass. It appeared that he was going to be forced to fight.

There was an indent in the wall near the now sealed door. On which, a familiar weapon awaited him. Somehow, these people had gotten a hold of his Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum, a sniper rifle. At least he had something familiar to use.

High above the crowd, a man stood up. He appeared to be speaking something to the audience, who all fell silent while he stood. After a few seconds, what he said was broadcasted through a speaker for Nick to hear.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming. Today marks the grand opening of this coliseum. Here two freaks of nature shall battle to the death, providing you all entertainment. After all, what else could they be good for?”

The crowds roar came through the speakers for a moment, before they shut off again. The man sat back down, and motioned for Nick to look towards the other side of the room. Over there, his opponent had already arrived. How long could he have been there? Nick had no way of knowing, only that if he wanted to survive, he’d have to kill who ever it was.

Dean Hale had been captured only eight hours previous, and now found himself under effect of a sleep drug, chained inside a cell, and barely able to return to consciousness. Dean was a magical being, and relied on concentrating his power into weapons, or his skill as a polymorph, allowing him to transform into a massive assortment of animals and creatures. The young man managed to sit up, and found his duster and weapons had been taken away, leaving him with a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. He tried to blink the sleep from his eyes, with little result, but was awakened by a hard smack upside the head from a police baton, and found himself face to face with the barrel of a handgun. A large man stood before him, who suddenly aimed at his foot, only to shoot out the chain that held him inside the cell. The man grumbled something to him, and placed the gun to the back of Dean’s head.

Dean was forced down a dark hallway, then out a door into a blindingly bright arena. The door behind him was slammed shut and sealed, prompting Dean to turn and see an indentation on the wall, containing his jian and Colt Python, as well as the belt with his holster and sheath. Dean buckled on the belt and took his weapons. Confused and still having trouble seeing, Dean took a few steps forward, then frowned to himself and looked down at the shackle on his leg. He kneeled as if to tie his shoe, and carefully heated the shackle enough to break it with his hands and toss it aside.

Suddenly, from the speakers above, a voice rang out, apparently coming from a man high above them. “Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming. Today marks the grand opening of this coliseum. Here two freaks of nature shall battle to the death, providing you all entertainment. After all, what else could they be good for?”

The crowd roared, hurting the sleep addled man’s ears and causing him to shake himself fully awake and draw his gun, then his sword. Dean looked across the arena, and saw a gray figure standing there, holding a sniper rifle, and apparently his opponent. Dean stepped forward into the arena, eliciting another cheer from the crowd. The man blinked, realizing his survival depended on him defeating, or even killing the opposition.

From what he could see, his opponent was a normal human. However, the man had said "freaks of nature", so there had to be something special about this guy. Nick didn't know if he could really kill someone in cold blood, but with his own life on the line, he didn't really see any other choice. However, he did see the man do something to his own shackle, before taking it off. Lucky son-of-a-bitch, the Halfer's own was still digging into his leg. Pushing the slight pain of the shackle to the back of his mind, Nick took aim with his rifle.

"Sorry about this man!" he shouted, before pulling the trigger, sending a powerful bullet for the man's gut.

There was little chance that this bullet could miss. Nick was quiet the lucky one. Hopefully, it would do just enough damage to incapacitate him without outright killing him.

Dean heard a shout and a gunshot, and immediately dove to the ground, switching at full speed from his human form, to that of a king snake, then back to normal as the bullet passed over him. The young man jumped back to his feet and raised his Colt, which was, in fact, empty. The weapon had never been loaded, or even fired in the conventional sense. Dean instead channeled magic through it to create elemental bullets, something he prepared now, then fired, releasing a red hot “bullet” of magic toward his new foe. The polymorph then spun, swinging his sword horizontally to create an arc of ice magic, launching that forward as well.

His aim was good, but at the last second, something happened. The boy was gone. Nick saw something black on the ground, and then the boy was back, and fired off his own gun, followed by some sort of wave of what looked like ice. Cursing to himself, Nick slung the rifle over his back, and, quite literally, pulled a playing card out of no where. It was the Ace of Spades, now if only he was playing Poker. The back of the card was gray. Without even a pause to show off the apparent magic trick, Nick threw the card.

It collided with the bullet mid air, creating a small burst of energy that destroyed both of them. Afterward, he pulled a coin out of his pocket, he never did run out of tricks. He flipped the coin into the air, before batting it with his tail. It collided with the ice, splitting the wave in half, one part of which fell to each side.

"You're going to have to try better then that!" Nick smirked.

This time, a die materialized in his hand. He dropped it on the ground, giving it a bit of a spin as it went. The side that landed upright flashed white. The cards were now infused with holy energy. He pulled five cards out of no where, the backs of which were now pure white, and threw them. As they flew, light enveloped the cards, making them look a bit like arrows. It would hurt a lot to get hit by one of those.

His enemy stopped his attacks with minimal effort, splitting his ice wave with a mere coin. The man had plenty of tricks it seemed, and had begun summoning cards out of basically nowhere. Dean saw five cards flying toward him, and realized there was no dodging this. Instead, the polymorph leapt forward, spinning as he went to form a ring of fire from the tip of his blade. He collided with and passed the cards, destroying the ones in between him and his enemy.

Dean dropped the fire and charged forward, gaining speed, until he finally came within melee range of his enemy, who upon closer inspection seemed to be some form of cougar on his hind legs. The poly morph stabbed at the cougar man’s gut halfheartedly, hoping he would be blocked so he could speak to the opponent.

All five of his cards were destroyed by some sort of fire energy. Then, the man rushed him stabbing at his gut. Nick dodged back, and threw a domino between the two of them. The little playing piece expanded until it was about the size of Nick himself, and took the swords blow for him. He then pulled a two ball from a billiards table out of his pocket and rolled it against the edge of the domino. Then, he took off, putting some space between himself and his opponent while the man's blade was hopefully trapped by the domino it had stabbed into. Suddenly, the two ball exploded into a giant ice ball. It hopefully wouldn't kill him, maybe give him frostbite, but the Cougar Halfer doubted that it would effect him too much.
