Salmontail stared up ungracefully at the cloudless sky, his tail-tip flicking with an impatient manner. He was hungry, not having eaten before heading out to hunt. He hadn't expected the dead grass to crunch ever so loudly beneath his paws, dried and withered from the sun. He turned his head, pricking his ears as he listened to his clanmates speak nearby. His haunches stood as a slight breeze carried itself to him, rustling the grass against his fur. Silently, he dropped his maw to scent the air. Salmontail picked up the slightest trace of fur and musk, although somehow he couldn't immediately determine what he'd been smelling. However he knew he was upwind from whatever it was, and without a word to his clanmates he silently followed the direction the scent had come from, sticking as well as he could to the shadows that were supplied by the tall grass- His bright, bushy white body wasn't exactly the perfect camouflage.
