• Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.

Ask to Join Welcome to Solacrest Academy!

I should have my character uploaded by tonight, what’s everyone’s characters currently doing? I just wanna see who I can interact with.
Annabelle (@Anakisuto ) has a Territorial Salazzle trying to scare off Augustus (@Cmeriwether ), Max (@Psymallard ) and Bri (@|Bread), but Augustus's Hisuian Zoroark, Iluusio popped out due to a possible threat from said Salazzle worried due to his potential reaction (Dex Entry for Hisuian Zoroark explains more.) Max happened to he in the immediate vicinity. Bri had spotted the Salazzle, but no reaction on the hissing yet.

On the flipside, Cody Butler (@|Bread| ) came across Kiana Smith and Mariachi the Fuecoco (@Cmeriwether ) after Mariachi approached Cody, Awinita (@Draco Nightshade ) was in the area and recognized Cody.

Name: Maeve Anne Miller
Nickname (optional): Mae
Gender Identity/Orientation: Female/Bisexual
Occupation: Student
Major at Solacrest Academy: Battling/writing
Home Region and City/Town: Celadon City, Kanto
Favorite Pokemon: Ninetales, either version

Appearance (Picture not required, but encouraged!!):
View attachment 947664
Maeve is above average height for her age and maintains a semblance of an athletic body type, being more on the slim side. She has slightly long black hair and sparkling blue eyes, alongside fair skin. She tends to dress formal in most cases, and she usually wears a shirt and tie as she was taught to dress formal in most situations. She tends to have a more silent, timid, and even slightly intimidating demeanor most of the time, which she has a struggle getting rid of.

Personality:
Mae is introverted, and has a hard time expressing her feelings due to her isolated upbringing. Despite being an avid reader, she doesn't seem to have fully grasped a true understanding of how to express herself - rather seeming to stutter and slightly panic when she's asked about how she is, even in simple, casual conversations. She's very nice, however, and cares very much for both human and Pokemon alike. Even despite being introverted, she's not too afraid to ask others if she needs something, but not without rehearsing what she's going to say a few times. If she's pushed to the edge though, she can lose herself and be consumed by rage.

Backstory:
Mae lived in a very isolated and quiet background, raised by rich parents. Her parents were quite protective of her, a bit too much, and while Mae initially pushed back, she found herself easing herself into her new introverted lifestyle. She was mostly homeschooled and remaining near her home at all times, where she mainly read books, drew, and exercised. Mostly, other than that, she grew up and bonded with two Vulpix, which soon evolved into Ninetales.

Her life wasn't that interesting, and Mae even started to get bored with it. Managing to convince her parents after various pleas, she managed to go to Solacrest Academy, which was an attempt to get over her introvertedness. Her parents, as they got older, realized they couldn't really hold onto Mae in their house forever.

Thanks for the recap! Am I good to respond, or should I wait for the others?

I’m not entirely sure how to approach this, as Mae is pretty introverted and wouldn’t likely just hop in with a group, unless for some reason she was forced to, but I’m pretty sure I should be able to figure something out. Post should come later today.

I just looked over Mae's Pokémon, and Augustus is going to be very interested. He is specializing in Regional Variants.

I finally finished my character:

Name: Evander Doyle

Nickname (optional): “Evan”, “Ev”

Age: 18

Gender Identity/Orientation: Cis Male & Bisexual

Occupation: Student and Lab Assistant (Future Paleontologist/Archaeologist)

Major at Solacrest Academy: Pokemon Research (Paleontology specifically), Archaeology, and Battling

Home Region (Any Region, including Brale) and City/Town: Galar (Crown Tundra), Freezington

Favorite Pokemon: He finds it hard to decide from all the fossil Pokémon, but he’s always had a soft spot for his partner Aurorus.

Appearance (Picture not required, but encouraged!!): Evander is quite lanky and skinny, which is usually hidden under his jacket. He rarely takes it off, unless it is too hot. He usually wears semi-formal clothes underneath his wooly jacket. Also the earrings are from his mother's shop.

429396613_936682207969677_4082021797091961262_n.jpg

Personality: Evander is the kind of person you wouldn’t expect to be smart. He’s lighthearted, happy-go-lucky, and relaxed, always going through his life with a smile on his face. But deep down, Evan is an intelligent kid with a heart of gold, who’s compassionate, well-mannered, and always there to lend a helping hand. Though rare, he’s not one to shy away from adventure and danger, especially with his Pokemon by his side. He's brilliant and quick-witted, hiding a vast amount of knowledge (especially archaeology and paleontology) behind his facade of being a chill and level-headed teenager.

Backstory: The Crown Tundra is said to be the most ancient and mysterious part of Galar. From the Crown Shrine, Dynamax Tree, several Regi-related ruins, and the legend of “The King of Bountiful Harvest”, these lands seem to hold secrets long forgotten to time. And this cold yet charming locale is where Evander calls home. His father was a businessman who was almost always abroad, while his mother owned an antique shop in Freezington. She would tell him of all the ancient stories associated with the Crown Tundra, which piqued his interest in history, and gave him a sense of deep curiosity. This curiosity gave Evan the reputation for being quite the wanderer, and that often led to him interacting with a lot of wild Pokémon.

This was how he, at the age of 10, found his partner Amaura, while looking around Slippery Slope for berries. After realizing that it was hungry and trying to get some food, Evan handed the small sauropod some berries of his own. This gained her trust, and she followed him back home without him knowing, which was quite a shock for his mother. After a mild panic and an explanation from Evander, she decided that Amaura would make the perfect first partner for him. And so he caught the Pokemon, and lovingly named it Aurelia.

When he was 15, he was heading back up to Slippery Slope to fetch berries for his mother when he ran into two strangers finding their way through the cold. A burly gray-haired dark-skinned man in an orange expedition outfit, and his blonde and pink-haired daughter with green eyes, both of them needing help finding the nearest town. So after getting the berries he needed and introducing himself, Evan guided them to Freezington, where they properly introduced themselves as Peony and his daughter Peonia.

Evander and Peonia became fast friends, and spent most of their time together, exploring the Crown Tundra and all its secrets. Peonia often treated him like a dorky sidekick, which he didn’t mind, especially when he helped her train her Tyrunt to evolve. She was even the one to tell him that the Crown Tundra contained Pokémon naturally found in the wild that were considered extinct elsewhere, only being able to be revived by fossils. This was apparent with his partner Amaura. This fact intrigued Evander, and after doing some research, he decided to dedicate himself to studying how these Fossil Pokemon function in the modern-day, and hopefully integrating more of these ancient Pokemon. Later in life, this led to Evan discovering Solacrest Academy. With a variety of degrees to choose from, this should finally be his chance to become a renowned paleontologist.

Likes: Fossil Pokémon and Pokémon that date back to ancient times, paleontology and archaeology, the cold, his Pokemon, adventure and fun, books (especially old ones), antiques, friends, his mother, and the outdoors.

Dislikes: Being too hot, lack of social stimulation, boredom, being lost or aimless, being lonely or mistreated, and bullies.

Other Information:
Evander has never seen Penny in person. Usually, he sees her either as texts and photos to Peonia, or the occasional video. However, she is the sole reason why Evander sometimes calls Eevee and its evolutions “Veevees”.

Evan often refers to Peony as “Captain Peony”, and sometimes joins him on Adven-tours when Peonia asks him to. In fact, he is jealous of her relationship with her dad, since his dad is always somewhere else, too busy to even stop by. While Evan believes that his dad is doing the best for his family, his faith is waning. So he treats Peony sort of like a step-dad.

Evander has a slight Scottish accent. (Like Mimir from God of War 4 & God of War Ragnarok)

Pokemon 1:

Species: Aurorus
Nickname: Aurelia
Personality: Having evolved a few weeks before going to Brale, in a fight with Peonia’s Tyrantrum, she feels confident in herself and her ability to protect those she cares about. She is kind and motherly, as a guardian to her trainer and teammates. However, to those who hurt anyone she cares about, she shows no mercy.
Distinguishing Traits: She wears an ornate silver necklace fashioned with a jewel made from Dynite Ore, which was a trinket from the antique shop. This was a gift from Evan’s mother.

Move 1: Ice Beam
Move 2: Rock Slide
Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Stealth Rock

Pokemon 2:

Species: Cradily
Nickname: Lilium
Personality: Lilium is the type of Pokemon never one to step down from a challenge, even if it gets him in over his head. Much to Aurelia's chagrin, he’s the most impulsive and confident of the team, who sometime schemes. Still, he does care deeply for his trainer and is always willing to help nudge him in the right direction (sometimes literally).
Distinguishing Traits: He has a scar on one of his head tentacles (the top left one) from picking a fight with a pack of wild Anorith and an Armaldo when he was a Lileep. It took both Aurelia (An Amaura at the time) and Peonia’s Tyrantrum to save him. This has not damaged his confidence.

Move 1: Giga Drain
Move 2: Sludge Bomb
Move 3: Stone Edge
Move 4: Recover

Pokemon 3:

Species: Kabuto
Nickname: Ronin
Personality: Ronin was once a lowly Kabuto in a clan led by a Kabutops, considered the runt of the litter. Because of this, he wanted to become a strong Pokemon and forge his destiny to prove that he was worth something. That was until he was fished up by Lilium (as a Lileep) and Evan. The trainer didn’t seem to mind his small size and cherished him all the same. This gave Ronin a renewed sense of hope, and he happily joined Evan’s team. Now he is quite honorable and determined in his quest to become stronger.
Distinguishing Traits: Despite being smaller than normal, Ronin seems to be tougher than most normal Kabuto.

Move 1: Leech Life
Move 2: Waterfall
Move 3: Rock Slide
Move 4: Dig

Pokemon 4:

Species: Baltoy
Nickname: Dogu
Personality: Young and curious, Dogu wishes to explore the world with their trainer by their side. Though they are shy and aloof, Dogu wants to be a good partner for his master.
Distinguishing Traits: Dogu has Levitate, and is always floating. They also seem to be attracted to ancient objects.

Move 1: Confusion
Move 2: Earth Power
Move 3: Shadow Ball
Move 4: Dazzling Gleam

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you can leave it there.

Love your character! Go for it!

I'll try to respond today. Is there anything I should know before responding?

Augustus noticed Maeve and her Alolan Ninetales (@~Aura~Slashz~ ), he went over there to hopefully learn more about the Ninetales. Arsenica (@Anakisuto ) should have nothing to worry about anymore. Bri (@|Bread| )is still in the area, and Max (@Psymallard ) has gone off and found Neil and Jupiter (@DevVoid )

On the Kiana side of things, A Fuecoco (@Cmeriwether ) is playing Tag with a Buneary (@Draco Nightshade ), and Kiana is starting to get used to Cody (@|Bread| ) and Awinita. Awinita just found out that Spikes is a Shiny Pokémon.

So is it canon to the roleplay now @Anakisuto? Also should it be Steel or Steel/Flying? (You can also reply on the cool regional thread)

Also Xatu just has so much beef with Dogu and they don’t really mind.
It sure can be! Steel-Flying would be a good typing.

Nice! Thanks for the recap!

Also wouldn't it be Bralean instead of Bralian? You know since -ian is for regions that end in a consonant, and Brale ends in e. Also, I updated Bralian Heatmor's info a little bit, and plan to give it a unique signature move. I think it should be found as a rare encounter on Route 3, and normally on Route 8, Route 13, and Route 18.

(Constructive criticism here, the town and route names might need a little work, I'd be happy to rename them if necessary.)

Also do you have anything in mind for the teachers?

Sorry about the error. I have trouble with spelling sometimes. Bralean looks better. You can also rename a town or route, as long as the name goes by me first.

I didn't have anything in mind for the teachers, and I thought that the "players" could control them during scenes their character is in.

After reviewing the text file, I am concluding that Cole could mentor Evander if the E4 runs some sort of mentorship program or just visit the school. I have also compiled all the info into an easier-to-view Google Doc. (To be safe with the roleplay guidelines you might wanna remove the legendaries from the dex.)

(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rth7K3t2Xo34g0-CcGYyj4heFun7SbROI97IU2MVPo8/edit?usp=sharing (Brale))

Also @Anakisuto, why does he have no fossils aside from Hisuian Arcanine? He honestly might be either a geologist or archaeologist with this team. Some of these teams may need reworking and some trainers might need lore. Also if anyone has any suggestions for Bralean forms, you can suggest it here.
