Welcome to Solarest Academy, located in Duskscorn City in the Brale region! This region is based on the American Midwest, which I feel hasn't gotten a lot of love from the Pokemon games. More info about the region, along with the map, can be found below the post!

(The rival mentioned is a fellow student, and can be mentioned/controlled by anyone.)

Your character will be a student of Solacrest Academy, and they will be between the ages of 18 and 25. Pokemon of all types are allowed here, but students of that age shouldn't have a full team of fully-evolved Pokemon (One or two are okay, though.). Legendary Pokemon, or fully-evolved pseudo-legendary Pokemon are not allowed, however. Classes are mainly focused on Pokemon and Pokemon battling, but classes related to real-life subjects such as mathematics and language arts are also available.

Yo, this looks fun. I've been meaning to get into a Pokemon rp again for a while now, so I'll give this one a shot!

Appearance: 5'9", average build, and pale skin. His eyes are a steely grey, and his hair is short, black, and stringy. His wardrobe usually consists of drab, plain tees, jeans, and black sneakers.

Personality: He's a very passionate young man. He often goes into whatever he puts his mind to with a blind confidence, and when he fails, he deflects the blame from his shortcomings onto other factors- most often onto his Pokémon or bad luck. However, he's too stubborn to give up, driven by a desire to be the very best, like no one ever was... but mostly because he craves attention.

Favorite Pokemon: Goomy (eventually will need to catch two of these for his research).

Appearance (Picture not required, but encouraged!!): Augustus Legend is a brown haired individual with tired blue eyes from the research he has been doing. He's commonly seen in nice clothes, like collared shirts, dress pants and steel toed boots, however he also wears a lab coat when doing his research so nothing gets on his clothes. Augustus stands around 5'9".

Personality: If any four words could describe Augustus Legend in terms of personality, it would be the following:

Dedicated: He will be doing research when he can, and if he plans something, he will be figuring out a way to do so while being able to do some research for the day. He sometimes gets too dedicated and ends up taking the night to research stuff.

Motivated: His Desire to figure out the genetic differences between the Normal and Regional Variant is part of what drives his Motivation.

Curious: His curiosity into this subject was what brought him in to it, and part of his curiosity on his starter, Iluusio, and why his typing was different, alongside other things. His curiosity of the Region was what brought him to Solacrest Academy.

Empathetic: Augustus has been keeping an eye on situations, and will show some understanding when he can, which is around 90% of the time.

Backstory: Augustus was born to a semi-powerful trainer and his wife as the fourth of seven kids. At a young age, he had an interest in regional Variants after his mother came home with an Alolan Raichu one day. As he aged towards receiving his first Pokémon, his parents went to prepare a special starter, a Hisuian Zorua. When the Zorua met Augustus, the two immediately took to each other. As he went to his schooling, he learned about more Regional Variants, and prepared to catch a few Pokemon with Regional Variants. During a class trip to Kanto, he found a Slowpoke and a Sandshrew that he caught after trying to help them. During his school days, before the academy, someone tried to battle his Hisuian Zorua with a Ceruledge, and during that battle, Iluusio evolved into Zoroark. The tables turned on the Ceruledge and Augustus actually won that one. After that he worked on acquiring the Regional Variant of Sandshrew, a Foreign Exchange with Alola was what it took. In Alola, he was there for a year, learning useful things about Pokémon when he found an Alolan Sandshrew, who joined his team after recovery from a Tyranitar attack. The Tyranitar returned to the area that the Alolan Sandshrew had lived, and tried to attack the local Population. Augustus had Iluusio turn into an Aggron and baited the Tyranitar all the way out the cave and unintentionally into a Kommo-o's nest, getting the Tyranitar into a fight while Augustus snuck out of there. Iluusio then caught up as he ran back to the town before Tyranitar realized what happened. During the foreign exchange, the teacher was quite surprised at Iluusio, having not seen many Hisuian Zoroarks, and wanted to know about Bitter Malice, Zoroark's Signature Move. After the Foreign exchange in Alola, he went home and got his team together, and in the Isle of Armor on a Class trip to learn about the history of The Isle of Armor, he found a Unovan Zorua, alongside a Galarian Slowpoke. The Slowpoke evolved after making a Galarica Wreath, to the Current Galarian Slowking. As he studied in Sootopolis, he solidified his intended research path and then enrolled in Solacrest Academy.

Likes: Research, His Pokémon, making friends, things with Watmel Berries, seeing Regional Variants in the wild.

Dislikes: People messing with his research too much, getting attacked in Field Research, Pokémon in pain, people being cruel to Pokémon.

Other Information: Augustus Legend is part Alolan on his mother's side of the family.

Personality: Very Watchful, a serious Pokemon. Do not mess with Augustus or the other Pokémon, that will anger this Pokémon.

Distinguishing Traits: This Pokémon wears a red and white scarf around his neck when he is not in battle.

Gender Identity/Orientation: Female (Demisexual/Biromantic)

Occupation: Student (Future League Challenger).

Major at Solacrest Academy: Battling, Understanding Hearts of Pokémon.

Home Region and City/Town: Currently Medali, Paldea (has connections to Phenac City, Orre.)

Favorite Pokemon: Applin

Appearance (Picture not required, but encouraged!!): Kiana has long red hair from her Orre Ancestry, tied back with an Applin hairtie, with green eyes, her skin is darker, however, her face is freckled. Her frame is slim and fit from years of training, and she commonly wears a light sweatshirt, and training shorts when not in any sort of uniform. She will adjust her outfit based on Seasons and weather.

Personality: Kiana is rather shy, and prefers to be approached first. However, as time goes on, she can open up a bit, being more sweet and caring, and will stand up to those that try to hurt her friends. Her personality shifts on the Battlefield, with a serious and calculated disposition once Pokémon battles are concerned.

Backstory: Kiana was born to a Fighting Type Specialist and her husband, who had an amicable divorce when she was three. She lived with her mother, and trained with her in both hand to hand combat and other physical sports, when not taking schooling.

She was given a Mankey by her mother when she first went to Paldea's Academy, so she held off on selecting a starter Pokémon until it was time to prepare the rest of the team. As she learned her various things, she had a person appear at her house on Medali. They explained they were from Phenac City, Orre and were here as an Executor of her father's will. Kiana was surprised, and her mother had burst into tears. However, the man gave her a Pokéball containing a Purified Scyther, she Nicknamed the Scyther Cleanse, from the Purification. She was told that her father had just managed to Purify this Scyther right before he died.

Shortly after Cleanse joined the team, it was the Treasure Hunt, she caught several new team members during this, including Knight the Pawniard, Serpent the Dunsparce, and while She was visiting Alfornado, a Glimmet Outbreak occurred, and she was called to help with the Glimmets. Her Annihilape, Fist, who was then a Primeape, helped with clearing the Glimmets until a teal Glimmet approached her, hiding behind her and Fist. A Hippopotas approached the group of Glimmet. Fist stood guard while Kiana tried to calm the Hippopotas, the Hippopotas immediately used Sand Tomb in an attempt to bury Kiana and the Strange Glimmet, however, Fist was pissed, and his fist glowed purple, Punching the Hippopotas for that Sand Tomb. Kiana got the Glimmet out of the Sand Tomb's range as she tried to contact some of the other trainers, giving a Hippopotas sighting as to why so many Glimmets were seen. She then saw something much bigger, a Female Hippowdon. Even Fist didn't want to mess with that. They led the Glimmets that were around towards somewhere safe, mainly the caves, where a Garchomp (from one of the Gabites that naturally live there) saw the Hippowdon, and led it away from the caves. Glimmet then approached Kiana to join her on her travels. She then caught Glimmet and nicknamed her Spikes. Her treasure hunt had ended, and she went to school, being somewhat of a talk of her when Spikes popped out of the Pokéball.

When she was sixteen, a 2v2 Tournament for her age group was opened, she entered Fist and Cleanse. It was a 32 trainer Tournament, and the first round was her vs a boy with a Mankey and a Machop, Cleanse swept that match. The next two matches were a bit more difficult and Fist got involved. The fourth match was close. However the Finals seemed like it was going to be a loss, but a Well timed Morning Sun allowed Cleanse to take down the Breloom that her opponent had, they then sent in Dragonair. The Dragonair took down Cleanse, and Fought Fist, however, during the fight between Dragonair and Fist, Fist's twentieth use of Rage Fist had occurred, which triggered an Evolution. Kiana's newly evolved Annihilape proceeded to one shot the Dragonair with Ice Punch after the newfound evolution. After that, she studied and trained her team, getting accepted to Solacrest Academy to continue her studies.

Other Information: Kiana is rather physically fit. She won a 2v2 Tournament for her age group three years before the RP. Ground types give her a sense of unease that stems from the Hippopotas.

Personality: Fist is like Most Annihilapes, always angry, however, he is a social Annihilape, and will try to calm down to see what other Pokémon may want.

Cody is a tall young man with very pale skin, often being described as ghostly. He has light brown eyes and somewhat overgrown buzzed dark ginger hair. He has wide eyes paired with a smaller nose. Personality: Cody is an outgoing gentleman, sticking to tasks without being asked and is rather dependable. He is quite a pain when it comes to others and prefers to work on his own without the thinking of others. Despite that when he does manage to make friends, he keeps them close and is somewhat of a people pleaser (when others mention it to him he denies). He puts his close friends over himself but when it comes to anyone else he puts them down. He talks lowly about others often, being rude and judgmental. Though he is likely to be negative about others, he is incredibly confident in his abilities to learn and teach which is the reason for his education major. He is also very empathetic with those he trusts. Cody is very organized and gets anxiety when those around him aren’t.

Backstory:

Cody Butler Russo was born to his mother and father, Jenna Russo and Markus Russo in the town of Sandgem, Sinnoh. He grew rich and ended up moving to Duskscorn City, Brale at a young age. Cody did not attend any school before Solacrest but insisted on learning himself instead. With the help of his father, Markus, Cody learned many different things focusing on mathematics and science skills specifically. He learned to read and write at a young age and has good handwriting. At the age of 17, Cody unfortunately lost his mother which absolutely broke him. Now 23 he has recovered but hides his inner self.

Personality: Brianna is an confident young lady. She is very intelligent though sometimes she does not use that intelligence to her advantage. She can be untrustworthy however because she cannot keep a secret. She is overly optimistic which leads to being unrealistic in many situations. She can be very bold as well.

Backstory: Brianna Mariette Courts was born to her mother, Mary Courts in Alfornada, Paldea. She grew up without her fathers presence and was often told that he was out working in nearby caves. As she grew older she attended Naranja Academy and graduated an year early. When she first started going to school she purse music over most other things. That is when she learned to play the cello. After graduating, Brianna knew she wanted to move on from music being her main interest and began to form an interest towards crimes. Her motivation for the crime interest in general was from her mother as the two used to sit and investigate past cold-cases together. After about two years she noticed an opportunity and decided to join Solacrest Academy.

Personality: Cody is an outgoing gentleman, sticking to tasks without being asked and is rather dependable. He is quite a pain when it comes to others and prefers to work on his own without the thinking of others. Despite that when he does manage to make friends, he keeps them close and is somewhat of a people pleaser (when others mention it to him he denies). He puts his close friends over himself but when it comes to anyone else he puts them down. He talks lowly about others often, being rude and judgmental. Though he is likely to be negative about others, he is incredibly confident in his abilities to learn and teach which is the reason for his education major. He is also very empathetic with those he trusts. Cody is very organized and gets anxiety when those around him aren’t.

Cody Butler Russo was born to his mother and father, Jenna Russo and Markus Russo in the town of Sandgem, Sinnoh. He grew rich and ended up moving to Duskscorn City, Brale at a young age. Cody did not attend any school before Solacrest but insisted on learning himself instead. With the help of his father, Markus, Cody learned many different things focusing on mathematics and science skills specifically. He learned to read and write at a young age and has good handwriting. At the age of 17, Cody unfortunately lost his mother which absolutely broke him. Now 23 he has recovered but hides his inner self.

Personality: Brianna is an confident young lady. She is very intelligent though sometimes she does not use that intelligence to her advantage. She can be untrustworthy however because she cannot keep a secret. She is overly optimistic which leads to being unrealistic in many situations. She can be very bold as well.

Backstory: Brianna Mariette Courts was born to her mother, Mary Courts in Alfornada, Paldea. She grew up without her fathers presence and was often told that he was out working in nearby caves. As she grew older she attended Naranja Academy and graduated an year early. When she first started going to school she purse music over most other things. That is when she learned to play the cello. After graduating, Brianna knew she wanted to move on from music being her main interest and began to form an interest towards crimes. Her motivation for the crime interest in general was from her mother as the two used to sit and investigate past cold-cases together. After about two years she noticed an opportunity and decided to join Solacrest Academy.

Appearance: 5'4" with a pretty thin and lanky build. Neil prefers wearing white, lab-like coats, gloves and all the other stuff that people of science wear (or just stuff he likes to think people of science wear.) The rest is explained in the picrew below that I found here. (And yes, he does just look that crazy normally, this would literally just be him smiling normally.) Coincidentally, his fashion sense still very much holds some resemblances to the style and color scheme of Team Galactic's colours. Just something about that white, gray and black style that he holds so dear, just the same as that hair colour grunts like him always had.

Personality: Alan had always felt like an outsider compared to the rest of the people around him. He always was so strangely eccentric and unaware of social boundaries, inept at communicating properly and always preferring alternate methods like writing or drawing pictures. His personality is like a lightswitch between chipper and eccentric-bordering-crazy, to serious and focused to the point of appearing extremely cold, stoic and cunning.

These two personalities are both opposite of one another, yet he controls them and his emotions a little.. too well. Sometimes he can seem like a machine who just takes everything in stride and approaches every step in life with apathetic logic and reasoning, and sometimes he can seem like he's got too many screws loose and has absolutely no talent at socialization whatsoever, prattling and rambling on without forethought even if he's just speaking his thoughts aloud, a habit he does quite often regardless. Though one thing that's always been certain - he's got the mindset of a true researcher.

His curiosity is untameable, his intrigue never-ending, which.. can certainly lead him into trouble if he ends up discovering something he shouldn't have known about. Alan may be the smart and intelligient type, but only booksmart. He's got barely, if almost no streetsmarts on him at all. Because of this, he often ends up misinterpreting things to sometimes small, sometimes great lengths, with his creative and overactive imagination not really helping out much with those kinds of situations.

Still, in spite of his past, he's not the evil type. He definitely can show a kind and caring side, he just.. needs to be pointed out what he's doing wrong sometimes as he's more than welcoming to genuine, honest criticism and can definitely take things up a few notches too far if he's not regularly stopped and kept in check.

Backstory: The funny thing is due to Neil's social ineptitude, he thought that Team 'Galactic' and the 'new world' they were intending to create was the coolest thing ever, leading him to believe that they were not intending to tear the whole world down but just trying to create interdimensional travel (like what people tried to do with Porygon-Z), causing him to join (and also his phase of having bowl cuts before he grew out of it). In fact, even after Team Galactic had been taken down and their schemes exposed did it take him some time to really realise why things were happening the way they did, that's how completely lost in his own world he was. To this day though, even after Team Galactic's plans had been exposed and abolished, he STILL owns that iconic, infamous blue hair color of the team's grunts.. there's just something about it that feels right to wear it.

Likes: Anything having to do with Space and other worlds, gathering information, electronic music, coffee, tea.

Dislikes: Wasting time, being unable to satisfy his curious nature, sleeping, soda.

Other Information:
Fun Fact: Re-arranging the letters in Neil's name nets you both 'Alien' and 'Martian'.

Other Fun Fact: Due to his team being (almost) all psychic-type Pokemon, Alan and his team have trained enough to the point of being able to actually genuinely communicate with one another mentally and frequently do so on a daily basis. The only exception is Pixel, his Porygon, though it just blinks in morse code to talk with Alan in a simple 'yes' and 'no' pattern.

Appearance: Matt stands at a slightly above average 5'11, carrying a rather quiet demeanor despite his slightly muscular build. He has dark, rich skin and jet black hair in a simple, close-cropped fade. His eyes are a deep mahogany brown that hold a hidden intensity on the off chance he has the courage to meet someone's gaze. Matt, especially in public settings, seems to always be anxious, often employing coping mechanisms to distract himself. He often wears muted colors in a desperate attempt to blend into the background of the world around him, longing for a sense of solitude that seems to be fleeting day by day at the busy academy.
Personality: It might be obvious to you by now that Matt has a case of rather crippling social anxiety, but he does harbor a wealth of resilience beneath his surface. His mind never stops thinking, and his skills in mathematics and critical thinking often earn him high appraisal from his teachers. Still, he remains very timid in social settings, always observant, viewing the world around him with a sense of curiosity and caution. Some might say he's an old soul stuck in a young body, carrying the weight of his experiences with a degree of maturity that tends to alienate him from the rest of his peers. He finds most of his solace in reading, whether it be fiction or non-fiction, each page he turns he delves further into the realm of literature, where he feels he can truly be at peace. Backstory: Matt was born and raised in Violet City, a place steeped in tradition and surrounded by the gentle beauty of the landscape. His parents, Wade and Joyce, enshrined Matt with a love for reading and writing from a young age. He didn't have very many friends growing up, preferring to keep to himself throughout all stages of his life. It wasn't until he entered adolescence when his social anxiety became chronic, but his parents were unsure of how to respond to it, letting it slowly build up more and more as he navigated middle and high school. Luckily, it was around this time when he was given his first Pokemon, a Natu he found while on a school trip to the Ruins of Alph in middle school. Although the little bird certainly acted distant and emotionless to everyone else, it and Matt developed a unique bond after they both accidentally fell down into the labyrinth below the ruins, and both had to solve the maze together. After seeing that their son bonded quite well with this Pokemon, Matt's parents gave him a Houndour for his 16th birthday, which Matt slowly earned the trust of after a few years of arduous training. Learning to befriend Pokemon helped Matt reach outside of his comfort zone, eventually leading to him forging a select group of friends in his later high school years.

Personality: Xatu embodies Matt's internal maturity, providing wisdom and channeling the spiritual world wherever it goes. Cold and untrusting to others, his Xatu often tries to protect its trainer from strangers, something Matt isn't particularly fond of. Xatu seems to have a unique bond with his Houndoom as well, often allowing the other Pokemon to get entangled in situations for its own amusement.
Distinguishing Traits: This Xatu always seems just a tad paranoid, near-constantly emanating a faint glow from exercising its psychic abilities at all waking moments.

Despite its belligerent nature, Houndoom has a soft spot for Matt, often nuzzling against his leg or offering a playful nudge to lift his spirits. When in a controlled environment, Matt always lets Houndoom out of its ball, feeling sorry that he can't live up to this Pokemon's battling ambitions.
Distinguishing Traits: This Houndoom has an indigo collar, Matt's favorite color, with identification tags in case of it running away, something that happens a bit more than it should.

Sometimes he can seem like a machine who just takes everything in stride and approaches every step in life with apathetic logic and reasoning, and sometimes he can seem like he's got too many screws loose and has absolutely no talent at socialization whatsoever, prattling and rambling on without forethought even if he's just speaking his thoughts aloud, a habit he does quite often regardless. Though one thing that's always been certain - he's got the mindset of a true researcher.

His curiosity is untameable, his intrigue never-ending, which.. can certainly lead him into trouble if he ends up discovering something he shouldn't have known about. Alan may be the smart and intelligient type, but only booksmart. He's got barely, if almost no streetsmarts on him at all. Because of this, he often ends up misinterpreting things to sometimes small, sometimes great lengths, with his creative and overactive imagination not really helping out much with those kinds of situations.

Still, in spite of his past, he's not the evil type. He definitely can show a kind and caring side, he just.. needs to be pointed out what he's doing wrong sometimes as he's more than welcoming to genuine, honest criticism and can definitely take things up a few notches too far if he's not regularly stopped and kept in check.

Backstory: The funny thing is due to Neil's social ineptitude, he thought that Team 'Galactic' and the 'new world' they were intending to create was the coolest thing ever, leading him to believe that they were not intending to tear the whole world down but just trying to create interdimensional travel (like what people tried to do with Porygon-Z), causing him to join (and also his phase of having bowl cuts before he grew out of it). In fact, even after Team Galactic had been taken down and their schemes exposed did it take him some time to really realise why things were happening the way they did, that's how completely lost in his own world he was. To this day though, even after Team Galactic's plans had been exposed and abolished, he STILL owns that iconic, infamous blue hair color of the team's grunts.. there's just something about it that feels right to wear it.

Likes: Anything having to do with Space and other worlds, gathering information, electronic music, coffee, tea.

Dislikes: Wasting time, being unable to satisfy his curious nature, sleeping, soda.

Other Fun Fact: Due to his team being (almost) all psychic-type Pokemon, Alan and his team have trained enough to the point of being able to actually genuinely communicate with one another mentally and frequently do so on a daily basis. The only exception is Pixel, his Porygon, though it just blinks in morse code to talk with Alan in a simple 'yes' and 'no' pattern.

Despite its belligerent nature, Houndoom has a soft spot for Matt, often nuzzling against his leg or offering a playful nudge to lift his spirits. When in a controlled environment, Matt always lets Houndoom out of its ball, feeling sorry that he can't live up to this Pokemon's battling ambitions.
Distinguishing Traits: This Houndoom has an indigo collar, Matt's favorite color, with identification tags in case of it running away, something that happens a bit more than it should.

Maeve is above average height for her age and maintains a semblance of an athletic body type, being more on the slim side. She has slightly long black hair and sparkling blue eyes, alongside fair skin. She tends to dress formal in most cases, and she usually wears a shirt and tie as she was taught to dress formal in most situations. She tends to have a more silent, timid, and even slightly intimidating demeanor most of the time, which she has a struggle getting rid of.

Personality:
Mae is introverted, and has a hard time expressing her feelings due to her isolated upbringing. Despite being an avid reader, she doesn't seem to have fully grasped a true understanding of how to express herself - rather seeming to stutter and slightly panic when she's asked about how she is, even in simple, casual conversations. She's very nice, however, and cares very much for both human and Pokemon alike. Even despite being introverted, she's not too afraid to ask others if she needs something, but not without rehearsing what she's going to say a few times. If she's pushed to the edge though, she can lose herself and be consumed by rage.

Backstory:
Mae lived in a very isolated and quiet background, raised by rich parents. Her parents were quite protective of her, a bit too much, and while Mae initially pushed back, she found herself easing herself into her new introverted lifestyle. She was mostly homeschooled and remaining near her home at all times, where she mainly read books, drew, and exercised. Mostly, other than that, she grew up and bonded with two Vulpix, which soon evolved into Ninetales.

Her life wasn't that interesting, and Mae even started to get bored with it. Managing to convince her parents after various pleas, she managed to go to Solacrest Academy, which was an attempt to get over her introvertedness. Her parents, as they got older, realized they couldn't really hold onto Mae in their house forever.
