The Desitiny Knot will give the offspring 5 random IVs off of the parent; if they don't have 5 they'll most likely pass down the ones they have. Hatch the egg, and go see what the IV man in the Battle resort says about the offspring. Mark the IV stats on their summery page.
So HP is represented by the first icon, attack the next, defense after that, special attack, special defense and speed following that. After deciding what IVs your Pokemon has, you need to find a breeding parter. You can't obtain Ivs any way but breeding. Give two desitiny knots to your Pokemon...
