    Mega Evolution can be used for the entire RP. Z-moves can be used once in a battle, the entire RP. Both Mega Evolution and Z-moves can be used in the same battle.

    So, it's the hoenn league, and everyone's closest pokemon can get one mega stone if they like. Proof they have a strong bond is that they were able to collect all 8 gym badges from Hoenn, and some even have collected them from other regions.
