Favorite Pokemon Protagonist (in the games)

I like those early player character designs the best (Red, Green, Blue, Gold, and Silver) because they all have this much more hard-bitten look than the modern designs do, which look way more cute/genki. I have a lot of nostalgia for Gold since I spent so many hours playing ROMs of G/S on my...

Shadow Mewtwo Appears In Pokkén Tournament

Haha legit, I like the blue-and-gold coloring.

    Service Pokemon

The nice thing about pokemon is that since they're pretty much all quite intelligent and can follow commands, almost any pokemon would be a good service animal. But yeah, there are some definite considerations for pokemon powers and physical attributes to help out with human society, like Grimer...

Physical Release Of Pokémon Rumble World Hitting Japan

I prefer this style of payment, freemium and microtransactions make me itchy. If they did this with Pokemon Shuffle and scrapped the heart regeneration mechanic it would improve that game a lot. Pokemon Shuffle is slowly releasing available pokemon and doing weekly/semimonthly events, though, so...

    Stone Evolution

If I'm not actively training the pokemon and just need it for dex completion, then I evolve it right away, yeah. (I think I had a level 3 raichu kicking around for a while.) Otherwise, gotta get those good moves first. To broaden the topic a little since everyone is giving the same answer, in...

    Your first Event Pokemon

I think the first one I ever got legit was the bonus disc Jirachi for pre-ordering one of the Colosseum games? But man, when they finally started distributing pokemon over wi-fi, what a grand day that was. I remember getting into fights with people who had Mew on their RBY or GSC games and were...

What changes/improvements would you like to see in Pokémon Z?

Or XZ/YZ or whatever chromosome combination we end up with. - Clothing improvements: more outfits and interchangeable between genders like ACNL, also the ability to not wear a hat if desired for the male trainer - Incorporate an Eon Flute-like mechanic: maybe you get a mega pidgeot to fly...

Pokémon Z Teased With Three New Zygarde Formes

FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON PO-KAY-MON ZEEEEEEEEE I'm curious how this will work out in game in terms of Zygarde's formes, I'm seeing people speculate that it will decompose into weaker and weaker components as its health declines. Maybe the cells will be a key item.

    Pokémon Go Mobile Game Revealed

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one, it's a bold vision but we have no gameplay footage yet. Pokemon Shuffle Mobile also pushes microtransactions harder than the 3DS version, so it would be a shame if this game went that way as well. Overall I look forward to being motivated to go outside.

What Region Would You Like to See Redone in 3D

All of the above-- rather than having another remake, I think we should leave them behind and move toward pokemon games with multiple regions to explore.

What is something you like that everybody else seems to hate?

I used to hate all green vegetables but the real issue is how they're prepared (plus I think my tastes have gotten less acute as I've gotten older, I don't mind bitter things as much). A lot of vegetables are really good sauteed or roasted. Spides! Yeah, the fear of arthropods is learned and...

Pokémon Shuffle Hits iOS In UK/US

I'm tempted to get into the mobile version since there are various pokemon and stages I missed in the 3DS version and it's unclear if they'll be repeated (some have been repeated twice while others haven't been seen since the game was first released). However, the mobile version has made some...

    Favourite Non-Creature Based Pokémon?

Stel mentioned several of my favorites, so there's only Vanillite and its evolutions left to add. Want ice cream cone? Both say yes.

What region do you want in 3D?

I'd really like a highly explorable world for a new 3D pokemon game so I'm tempted by having the Orange/Sevii Islands included, I like that feeling of exploring the ocean. :) I'd definitely like to see a multi-region explorable game.

    Your First Pokémon Game

I got a GBC and Pokemon Red for my birthday in 1999, it was my first video game and it was terribly difficult because I didn't understand a lot of the mechanics. Caves were stressful and scary, it took several tries to get through Mt. Moon. Random encounters-- how do they work? WHERE IS THE...

    Graduate School

Oh daaaaaarn, yeah, it can be unexpected how different things are from undergrad to grad school, or even between schools can be huge differences about timing and expectations. It sounds like things worked out well, will you be doing mostly work on the computer, or in the lab? Do you work in the...

    Graduate School

Congrats on your undergraduate degree! It sounds like you're doing a thesis-based Master's? Do you have to take any courses? Plan to TA? Are you at a new university or the same one? I'm about 1 year into my master's in materials engineering. There's been a bit of a learning curve for me in...

Anyone else addicted to Pokemon Shuffle?

Yep, I had it on my 3DS for a while but I only realized recently that it was a Match-3 type game and now my life is ruined. It's fun how the "power" ratings have little to do with the games' stats so I'm seeing a lot of pokemon I'd overlooked previously. I'm also a little frustrated by the fact...

    Opinion on Mary Sues?

I used to be really militant about Mary Sues/Self Inserts but I've cooled off a lot in recent years especially after noticing how gendered the application of the label can be. What I mean by that is that male characters are given a lot more latitude to be perfect and indulgent of the author's...
