Revealed: Xerneas was one of the five Pokémon revealed in the Pokémon Direct Broadcast announcing the Gen VI games on the 8th of January 2013. He was revealed to be the version mascot of Pokémon X, while the other legendary, Yveltal, was revealed to be the version mascot for Pokémon Y.

X: Legends say it can share eternal life. It slept for a thousand years in the form of a tree before its revival.
Y: When the horns on its head shine in seven different colors, it is said to be sharing everlasting life.
