Ability changing

I imported a male and female Nidoran from my FireRed or LeafGreen (can't remember which one). They're suppoed to have the Poison Point ability but in Diamond they have the Rivalry ability so now I'm wondering what happened. Was it magic or something. By they way this hasn't happened to any of the other Pokemon that I've imported. I wonder why this couldn't have happened to Absol or Snorunt?

I had the ability change happen to my female Nidoran too, but I imported a male and there was no change. My guess is that it's randomly decided when they're imported. I'm not sure on this though.

The reason is that in Those games, Rivalry wasn't there then. Now since it can have that ability, there's a couple of things. If it took the second slot ability in FR, LG, ect. it would still be that ability since it was the only one. In Diamond and Pearl, It has two abilites, so if the ability was in the second slot, Rivalry can take the first slot and become the ability it has. This process also won't always happen.
