Everything was fading in and out, even swirling, as if the world was being sucked into a black hole. This was it for the boy, Artis could feel it... but was this truly how he wanted his life to end? Suddenly the animals that once surrounded the boy, the chipmunks, the crows, squirrels you name it, all scattered from Artis in a flash. Causing the boy to reach out for his "friends," but still no words managed to escape the boy's open mouth. Strangely enough, the animals still seemed to be under his control, since they sported the darker colors and the slightly red eyes. So what were they doing? Defeated by his own thoughts, Artis' long, scruffy blue hair flowed forward like a stream of water as the boy retired to a hunched sitting position.
Meanwhile the town of Hicktik was as average as it could be, or so it seemed before chaos was swiftly strewn about different parts of the town at once. Those very small creatures that sported the red eyes ran amok the town, attacking anyone and everything that had even a speck of food on them. Especially the various bakeries that lay scattered around different sections of the towns. One in bakery particular had just acquired a new crow problem, since a crow swooped down and stole a loaf of bread from the display as proof. Although the little guy didn't make it far, since he was struck down by the owner's trusty rolling pin. "Haha, take that you thievin' little devil! Wait, what?" The owner's eyes widened with fear when the seemingly lifeless crow brushed off his strike like it never happened. Caw! The winged black devil continued it's mission, making sure not to forget the loaf of bread before flying off. Soon enough, it wasn't just the bakery having problems, the panicked screams of various townsfolk confirmed that much.
"Help! This chipmunk is biting my ankle!"
"Look out for those birds!"
"No, my food!"
By the time this was already happening, Artis' head perked up with a confused and shocked expression. His jaw was evidently dropped, he didn't command them to do this? Why was this happening... could it have been his unconscious desire to live? No matter what it was, he intended to stop this unwanted mess, but just as he'd arisen from his seat, a piece of bread was carefully placed in his hand by one of his winged assailants. And just from the sight of such an event, a wide grin sprouted on the boy's face in response, which in turn made him oblivious to the chaos that had plunged the town.
