Chimchar flinched at the leer and was taken by surprise when Magma used tackle. Chimchar was unable to complete his attack by was swift enough to evade the Cyndaquill's move. Chimchar was panting, his body was rather battered but his spirits did not seem downed.
Trsitan, who was getting bored of the battle called out "Chimchar use taunt." and at that Chimchar grinned. He then stuck out his tongue and did a cartwheel before shaking his butt and hopping away from Cyndaquill so he was back near Tristan. Chimchar was faster than cyndaquill so at that range his opponent would only land an attack if it were long range or he used another smoke-screen which he was hardly able to maneuver in himself. Chimchar thought it through with a pensive glow in his blue eyes, but Tristan wasn't going to wait that long "Chimchar hit his left side." Tristan grinned. It was a code almost between Chimchar and him, but it was a move they used to get out of ditches they fell into while exploring. Chimchar charged at the Cyndaquill, he jumped right before using a fireball to shoot him to Cyndaquil's right side where he then scratched the pokemon's vulnerable rib-cage.

Elliot had finished his Pokemon's training in Dark Cave, teaching them to trust his voice and him, so that when they face a smokescreen of sorts, they can get out of it with his help. Elliot saw an explosion farther back on Route 30 close to Cherrygrove, so he ran back, his Chikorita close behind. When Elliot got there, he saw a Pokemon battle, it was Callum versus someone he didn't know. The mystery person had a Chimchar, only native to Sinnoh. Elliot was fairly surprised to see one in Johto. He heard Callum call out " Magma remember our first command?" The Cyndaquil ran forward and used Leer, followed by Tackle. Chimchar seemed totally beaten up, but so did the Cyndaquil.

" Chimchar use Taunt" The mystery person said. ' Great move ' Elliot thought, ' Now Cyndaquil can't use its stat-dropping attacks, which is probably its only way to win ' Elliot thought to himself. ' This battle is gonna be super close... ' Elliot couldn't wait to see who won.

Hysan heard an explosion when he left the Poke Mart. He went to check it out. "Oh, so it's Callum and Elliot. Callum fighting some kid. I'll learn his name later," he muttered. He went past the battle to the route to Violet City, hoping Sarah would be there to challenge him to a battle. He wanted to battle someone already.

Elliot saw Hysan, and ran up to him. " They're having a battle, want to have one? " Elliot murmured. He was so excited, Elliot hadn't ever had a battle against someone like Hysan, who knew what they were doing, so in sense this was his first Pokemon battle. Hysan looked to be mulling it over, as Elliot kept thinking to himself, about how awesome they're battle will be. Elliot nearly jumped for joy as Hysan nodded to him. " Wait lets see the end of Callum's battle first." Hysan said, and Elliot felt dissapointed, but also agreed with him, hoping to size up Callum and this new kid.

Elliot had asked Hysan for a Pokemon Battle. After Hysan accepted, he suggested they watch the battle of Callum and the random kid. As he watched, he saw Callum's Cyndaquil using various combos. 'Hmm, if I use combos like that, I could win battles against Callum,' Hysan thought to himself. "Hang on, Elliot. I need to see Callum's Cyndaquil's combos so I can try to defeat it later." Hysan sized up the Cyndaquil. It used multiple effective combos. Hysan couldn't wait for a time to battle this Pokemon.
