Jacob yawned and rubbed his eyes. He was very tired. He pushed onwards, however, trekking through the forest. He wasn’t sure how much farther he’d make it; he had been walking most of the previous day, and all night without sleep. But he had to keep moving. He looked back at his Togekiss, Shakespeare. The pokemon was having trouble keeping up as well. Jacob stopped for a moment, and spoke to his Togekiss.
“Come on, Shakespeare. We need to keep moving; you know we can’t stay here.” The pokemon dropped to the ground, and looked up at Jacob, pleadingly. “I know,” Jacob replied. “But we don’t have a choice. Come on!” Jacob swung back around to keep walking. He was happy to see his Togekiss flying above him.
It was not long before he and Shakespeare came to a clearing, where they decided to take a rest for just a few minutes. As soon as they sat down, however, Jacob heard something behind them in the bushes. He turned to see two Team Plasma grunts, dressed in full uniform with white “X”s on their hats.
“We found em,” One of the grunts said to the other. “Can you believe how lucky we are?!? Now we just have to bring him in…” The other grunt nodded, and together they threw their pokeballs. In two blue flashes, a Liepard, and an Escavalier appeared. Jacob looked over at Shakespeare; his Togekiss was certainly too tired to battle. He had used all of his pokemon in the last 24 hours, but as he picked up a pokeball, he hoped they had had enough time to rest.
“Let’s go, Riffraff!” Jacob’s male Unfezant named Riffraff appeared beside him, standing on the ground. He hoped Riffraff had enough energy left for the battle.
“Liepard, use shadow ball!”
“Escavalier, use slash!” Both pokemon released their attacks from afar, heading towards Jacob’s Unfezant.
“Riffraff, dodge them!” Riffraff took off into the sky, easily avoiding both attacks. The attacks hit just several feet from Jacob, knocking him back. “Now, use air slash!” Riffraff’s wings glowed as he released several cutters of wind energy. The attack crashed into the ground around Liepard and Escavalier, but when the dust cleared, both pokemon were standing.
“Liepard, shadow ball again!” Liepard fired another ball of dark energy at Riffraff, but the pokemon easily dodged the attack.
“Okay, Riffraff, use razor wind!” Again, Jacob’s Unfezant’s wings began to glow as Riffraff released a torrent of razor sharp blasts of wind energy. The attack slammed into the two pokemon, and Riffraff kept up the attack for several seconds more. When the dust cleared both the pokemon, and the Team Plasma grunts lay on the ground. The grunts, along with Liepard pulled themselves to their feet with difficulty. Jacob smiled; Riffraff had this battle won. Just as Jacob prepared to launch the finishing blow, he heard something from the nearby brush.
“Amoongus, let’s go!”
And then another voice: “Frillish!” Jacob heard the pokemon being released, although he could not yet see them. Jacob turned to look at Shakespeare(Togekiss), who looked back at him and nodded. “Alright, Riffraff, let’s go!” Jacob shouted as Shakespeare took off into the air. Together, the three of them raced further into the woods. He could hear the grunts and their pokemon following behind him. Jacob could see the edge of the forest, when something forcefull pushed him from behind. He was sent rolling to the ground. Jacob shook his head as he wiped the water off him; Frillish must have been close behind. Riffraff(Unfezant) lifted Jacob from the ground, and placed him back on his feet. And together, they ran to the edge of the forest.
Jacob looked out over the field in front of him; he needed a safe place to hide. His eyes turned to the horizon, where he saw what looked like a village just ahead. He knew what the town was: Accumula Town. But it wouldn’t be a safe place for Jacob and his pokemon. Still he had no choice. He began sprinting towards the village.
As he and his pokemon approached, he recalled Riffraff. Now walking in the village, he figured he was safe from the grunts. There were plenty of trainers here, and the grunts would be foolish to attack him. Still, Jacob knew he had no allies in Accumula Town; he tried to cover his face as he approached the nearest inn. There he sat down at a table. He pulled on an apple from his pocket; it was the only scrap of food he had left, and he had no money. He took a bite of the apple before rolling it on the table, over to Shakespeare, who had plopped down beside him. Jacob became lost in thought about his next move; what would he do now?
