Private/Closed Alolan Pokemon Hero Tournament

Wall was knocked into the ground by the Gyarados' tail attack. "Wall! Can you still stand?" Ken asked. The Shukle then pulled himself. "Great!" Ken said. Wall then popped out a Sitrus Berry from its shell and ate it, recovering some HP. "Wall come back, its too soon for you to get knocked out." He said as he returned his Shuckle. "Go Crescent!" He shouted as he sent out his Salamence. "Use Dragon Claw!" Crescent's claws glowed and extended with a green aura as he flew at the opposing Gyarados with great speed to slash it.

Ry made a fist as the Salemence’s attack made it’s mark. While Gyra had tough scales, like many of his species, the attack was still a powerful one that dealt damage. As Gyra stumbled back, damaging the wooden floor, another burst of pain from the poison stung the Gyarados. Then Ry had an idea and was ready to use this Poison to his advanatge.

“Good move Ken, but that Toxic’s gonna be your downfall! Gyra Facade!” A grin had spread on Ry’s face, as Gyra began to glow with a soft orange glow. The Gyarados had taken some damage from that Posion and was ready to get his revenge. The Water and Flying Serpent like Pokemon jumped forward, lundging at the airborne Salamance. Ry’s fist was raised as he cheered Gyra on.

Ken frowned when he saw Ry use the poison to his advantage. "That won't stop me!" He said. "Crescent! Counter with Aerial Ace!" Ken commande while throwing his arm sideways. Crescent then did a flip in the air before becoming engulfed in streaks of white light and charged at the opposing Gyarados.

Brodie stepped onto her side of the Arena, and Said.
"Sure, Just Gimmie a sec to prepare...." She looked through her Pokeballs. And Knew just who to Start with, Her eyes Gleamed when this happened, She said
"Alright, ready!" She picked up the Pokeball, and smiled. Ready for action...

The attacks collide, sending sparks flying in different direction. As the energies pressed against each other, there was an explosion that rocked the battlefield, sending dust flying in all direction. Gyra fell backwards, and crashed onto the dirt, just beyond the battlefield. He was damaged heavily, but simply shook his head. But as he did this, the poison hurt him again, with a faint purple glow.

Ry winced, and he didn’t know if his attack dealt damage to the Salamanc but he did now it damaged Gyra. “You okay Gyra?” Ry asked turning around to see Gyra rising up. He gave another loud roar, which shook the battlefield, and slithered forward, getting back onto the platform. Ry could see the anger in his friend’s eyes.

“Okay, Blizzard!” Gyra opened his mouth and a flurry of cold wind and snow barreled towards Crescent, while blanketing the ground that passed over it with a thin layer of snow.

Crescent was knocked back by the Facade attack but caught himself in the air. Ken then saw the incoming Blizzard. "If that hits Crescent its going to do some serious damage." He said to himself. "Crescent! Counter with Flamethrower!" He shouted pointing while forwards. Fire started brewing in Crescent's mouth as he shot out a stream of fire at the Blizzard and countered it. But he didn't stop all of the attack and was still hit by a bit of the blizzard.

While the Flamethrower hit Gyra and did’t do a good amount of damage, the poison did some more. Ry winced. This battle would be an uphill fight, and Gyra wouldn’t have the stamina to deal with the flying dragon, especially if his healt was continually drained. “Okay, Return.” Ry said as Gyra glowed with a red light and disappeared into his Pokeball.

Ry smiled as he placed Gyra’s Pokeball at it’s place on his belt, and grabbed his next choice. “Well let’s hit the skies! Sting!” Ry was quick to send out his Beedrill in place of the Gyarados he had returned. Sting buzzed around the battlefield, and Ry gave a grin. “Now, X-Scissor!” Sting swung forward and crossed his larger cone shaped stingers. Then he charged a glowing green X in front of them and charged at Crescent.

Just when Koda was beginning to calm down, the appearance and equally quick disappearance of a Mimikyu first confused, then excited him. Abyss had simply turned to stare at the newcomer, a deadpanned crimson gaze that gave no quarter and took none. Typical. Musume was all for following and subsequently making friends with the strange new pokemon, but Freya had abruptly gotten to her feet. "Pan."

The nurse had exited the back room, holding a pokeball in her hand, and was making her way towards the sole trainer in the lobby. "This arrived for you, Miss," She said, passing over the sphere and a note. Freya quickly scanned the paper after a cursory, grateful nod, and sighed a breath of relief. Pan would be okay. He'd be a little unstable for a while, but there had been no data loss. He'd manage to get a better look at it after the tournament. The teenager pursed her lips, eyeing the ball before taking a breath and releasing its occupant. With an unusual display of sparks, Pan, her familiar Pan, appeared. His voice was a little static-laden and he didn't seem completely coordinated, but it was her Pan. A watery smile spread across her face, try as she might to stifle it.

Pan scanned his trainer, and then again the familiar face before it. It could sense something had happened, and that a bit of its memory had been corrupted, but it could remember going 'all out', as the organic beings said, in the previous battle. The break in its side had since been patched up, but that fault was still enough to deem it less than what it used to be. Imperfect. It couldn't battle to his full potential, but it'd try. It couldn't join it's trainer in shedding tears - for its sake - but it would try.

Late. Late again. This curse would follow her to the end of her days. Her feet thudded in a now familiar rhythm as Freya raced to her allocated location - an arena. How quaint. As she raced in, Pan floating beside her and Abyss at her heels, she could see battles had already begun around her, and she blushed furiously as she skidded to a halt (:p pun unintended) opposite her opponent. Practiced words spilled out, "I'm sorry I'm late!" as fresh embarrassment spread across her being.

Knox memorised the information about his next opponent and where he would be meeting her, lingering for only as long as he needed to, arms crossed as he stood firmly in the surging crowd, a rock that passing waves broke against. He got a few angry looks as he refused to acknowledge those walking by him but to be honest he couldn't care less, all his attention was devoted to the upcoming battle.

It didn't take the boy long to reach the arena that he would be meeting Angel at. The tropical heat had beat down on him the entire way there but despite this he still hadn't removed his scarf and was yet to break a sweat at all. He hadn't taken it off for the desert resort back in Unova so he sure as hell wasn't giving in to this climate. It may seem strange to an outsider that he cared so much about removing his clothing but Knox was not the kind of guy who liked losing to anything, even the weather. How could he tell his Pokémon to be strong if he simply gave in everything himself? Sure his logic was a bit flawed but the sentiment was alright.

As far as Knox could tell he was the first to arrive at the arena, a man made one this time rather than the natural formation he had fought in last time. With a little time to himself he leant back against a nearby palm tree, arms crossed behind his head as he rested his eyes. His poison type companion mimicked his actions, leaning beside him. The boy cracked one eye open slightly and almost smiled at the sight of the resting frog. Almost.

Judging by the portrait on the monitor, the man would have to be a "all business, no fun" kind of person, and even Mimi was a little startled by his intimidating glare. Angel decided to leave for the arena, as this man probably would have already been there by now and waiting for her.

As she entered the arena, being in the middle of the Hau'oli Outskirts and in the middle of the beach, the palm trees waved a little in the wind, as there was an Alolan Exeggutor playing hide-and-seek with an Alolan child nearby. As she approached her opponent, the playful duo stood in silence as they watched the intensity of the two trainers meeting for the first time.

Angel looked at the young man, and noticed that he seemed quite older for his age, as she was mentally younger for her age. At this point, she found a middle ground; something they have in common. She began to start acting like an adult at this point, bowing toward her opponent, and in her thick Kalosian-French accent, greeted him: "It's nice to meet you, Knox. I'm assuming that's your name. I hope you and I have a fair and fun battle against each other. I also wish for you to do your best, but that's already obvious by your looks."

All of Angel's Pokemon were still out and about, and that's when it happened: Quaju, her Greninja, found a rival in the toxic frog leaning against the tree. He croaked toward the other frog, wanting to duel with him. Angel had to put up her arm to stop him, as he looked toward her in confusion. She then spoke, not leaving her eyes off of her competitor as a sly smile crossed her face: "Not yet. In the battle, you may fight him."

Quaju grunted in agreement, but still kept his eye on the other frog. Zorro could be seen standing up straighter beside Angel, trying to be as tall as her, even with her slight heeled tap dance shoes. He then looked up at Angel, whose smile became even more wicked. Something was happening to her, and Zorro wasn't so sure about her mentality at this point. She then giggled it off like a little schoolgirl, like her mere subtle hints at her own mental instability was nothing and completely normal, but her Pokemon seemed to think otherwise as they cast a worried glance toward their trainer. Angel then skipped to the other side of the field, threw her dress in the sand, and raised her hand and motioned for him to make the first move, while the rest of her Pokemon automatically reentered their Luxury Balls, ready to start the fight.

Knox's eyes opened at the sound of his name breaking the relaxing whistle of the sea breeze, it would appear his opponent had arrived. She stood before him surrounded by what he could only assume where her own Pokémon, a mix of dark and fairy types. She wore a peculiar outfit that was just as out of place here in Alola as his own, some big frilly dress that looked as if it would be a nightmare to explore a region with. That kind of fancy looking outfit....what did that remind him of? Kalos? His suspicions were confirmed by her accent, which sounded foreign even when compared to those of the island natives.

With a curt nod in response to Angel's question the young man leapt up from where he rested, striding over to his side of the battlefield. Even as he walked he took in more of his opponent, she had a strange way of moving that made her seem younger, more childlike. Odd.

"Angel, the pleasure is all mine. Me and my team will try our best not to disappoint." He replied, his tone of voice as serious as ever. She wanted this battle to be fun? All battles were fun in his opinion, not that you would be able to guess by looking at him. If she didn't share that opinion then he would ensure she at least enjoyed this one. He was a bit surprised to see his foe whip off her dress to reveal some kind of skin tight dancing outfit though, his right eyebrow raising a fraction of an inch.

Sumu had seen the way Angel's Greninja had tried to step up to him and hadn't flinched at the thought of duelling the other frog Pokémon right then and there. Sadly the Kalosian lady had stepped in and put an end to that. Hopefully if he volunteered himself first she would give in and send the water type out? And with that thought in mind he bounded out in front of Knox, steeling himself before getting into a low fighting stance. His trainer simply nodded curtly and gestured for Angel to make her choice.

Angel just chuckled, foreseeing this Pokemon's need to battle her own frog. She grabbed a Luxury Ball, one with a Ball Capsule surrounding it with black and dark purple smoke, as well as blue star seals on the ball. She threw it up in the air with a delicate flick of her wrist, with the ball opening up. Instead of a red emission of a beam, black and dark purple smoke fell from the ball and floated toward the ground, with blue stars spiraling around the smoke down to the ground. The smoke covered the emission from the ball, and as the ball closed and fell back to Angel's hand, the smoke was forcefully pushed away by a forceful jet of water. Quaju, his arm outstretched and that jet of water turning into a water dagger, stood with his sticky, flat digits holding his water creation in a steel grip, as he stared at his opponent, picking out his weak spots.

However, Quaju noticed this was going to be a difficult fight, as he couldn't pick out the Toxicroak's weaknesses. He would just have to wait when he would attack to know his weaknesses. Judging by the Toxicroak's lean, powerful muscles and legs, this guy was fast and powerful. Quaju just smirked behind his tongue and thought to himself: Two can play at that game...

Angel then began to bounce her foot up and down to an invisible beat. Something felt classical with the way she moved elegantly and slowly, like she were doing a slow waltz. She moved this way and that, feeling the music course through her veins and closing her eyes to feel it engulf her. When she was acting as if she was being bent down backwards with her face now facing the battlefield, her eyes opened and she smirked. She stood up and twirled around quickly, with Quaju doing the same, but instead streams of water erupt from the ground and formed a veil around him, veiling him from what he is doing from his attacker. That's when he decided to strike. He dashed forward, the water following him as he went.

He decided to setup a bit before reaching his opponent, and bounced about the field, making the sand and dirt around the battlefield damp and throwing it about with his feet. This was his form of Mud Sport, as the field was now dampened by the mud thrown about, coating the now damp sand. All the while, keeping an eye on his opponent. He wasn't close enough for a physical attack to hit, but that wouldn't stop this creature from dashing forwards toward the blanketed individual. He just kept his legs at the ready to dodge while Angel's tempo in her dancing began to get slower, but more strained, as if she were waiting for the same thing to happen to her.

Knox wasn't impressed by the elaborate show that came with the release of Angel's Greninja, ball capsules weren't exactly common in Unova and were generally saved for Pokémon contests. Still, he could appreciate showmanship when he saw it and was sure anybody watching would be loving the little trick. Personally Knox preferred to provide entertainment through his battles.

Upon seeing his opponents begin to dance Knox was so surprised his cold demeanour actually fell away for a moment and he cocked his head to one side as if to try better understand what it was he was witnessing. Ah. Of course, Angel had come up with a way of communicating with her Pokémon that others wouldn't understand, how ingenious! Very complicated as well, he wondered if actually rhythmic move translated to a battle move of if they were individual letters and words? It would probably take hours to decipher. Surprisingly Knox was actually a terrific dancer himself, his sister had been very forceful when she had proposed he take it up so she would have a dance partner. Anyway that wouldn't help him here.

Trainer and Pokémon examined their foes tactics simultaneously, two pairs of eyes watching in an attempt to notice any flaw in their technique. It would seem that was a mudsport? Strange, Toxicroaks aren't exactly known for using electric attacks. Maybe she was setting up now to cover one of her other party members for later in the battle. Well sadly for her Knox didn't own an electric type. Anyway the more pressing matter was the veil of water her Greninja was cloaked in, the Unova native had no idea what move that was, if it was indeed a move. It could just as well be this Pokémon's ability after all.

Making a split second decision Knox blew a series of short whistles, each of which meant a lot more to Sumu than anybody else. The Toxicroak, who was yet to move a muscle, suddenly burst to life, his vibrantly yellow eyes zeroing in on the water type. His blood red throat-sack swelled as he reared back his head, toes scraping against now moist sand as he changed his stance to one that would better support himself. Of course Toxicroaks were known for using physical moves which typically have very little range so it made sense for Greninja to stay back, let Sumu go in for the first move so that it could attempt some sort of counter. Poison types always have a few nasty surprises for their foe however. Gunk shot for example, a physical move that had a lot of range behind it.

The toxic substance that had been hiding in Sumu's throat-sack was suddenly released as he whipped his head back towards the water veiled Greninja, letting lose the powerful gunk shot attack.

The Greninja had seen the Toxicroak charge, and so he waited when he got close. However, he didn't foresee him spitting out this foul smelling bile from within that toxic throat sac. His legs were ready to move though, as he sped toward the frog with lightning speed, ducking underneath the attack while almost becoming parallel to the ground in his ninja run. He then smirked, and as Angel twirled about quickly, she then smirked at Knox while she slowed down and her dancing becoming something akin to a dilapidated marionette, Quaju suddenly let loose a burst of psychic energy from his mind.

The water concealing his small movements burst forth from a point on his forehead to give way to this powerful psychic blast, the hole leading to his forehead looking slightly distorted as it came in invisible mind-numbing waves, looking like a painful mirage.

This water veiling technique was actually a technique he had thought up of when Angel told him a few years ago in a battle to use Water Pledge to protect him, completely nullifying an Ice Beam. Now, he just has to take a step to send the water down to the earth before cloaking him. He smirked at his ingenuity then, but now focused on the attack he was performing. It was time to make this Frogger feel some pain!

Due to that damn veil of water it was proving difficult for Knox and Sumu to work out exactly what it was the Greninja was doing, they could only guess from it's trainer and that was nigh impossible considering they didn't speak "dance". Neither of them reacted to the fact that gunk shot had sailed over the foe's head and splattered against one of the arenas outer walls, the attack was incredibly difficult to aim and travelled slowly for a projectile, making a miss far more likely.

It was the odd mirage effect that gave away the psychic attacks presence, rippling the air as the almost invisible force surged towards Sumu. Of course due to his unique typing the Toxicroak was very vulnerable to psychic type moves, which were notoriously difficult to dodge, the wave of mind energy was the width of the entire battlefield and all. So there was only one thing the pair could do, try and get over it.

With a strange whistle that went from a high pitch noise to a low Knox ordered his companion to begin a bounce attack, with Sumu responding just in nick of time. Those powerful blue legs bent for a moment, muscles tensing up before being released, sending the Toxicroak rocketing into the sky. Briefly silhouetted by the sun he tucked in all his limbs, forming a rough ball, doing several spins before swapping to a more aggressive, superman style, of decent, one glowing orange fist held in front of him as he dived down to earth, aiming straight for the other amphibian.

Quaju thought for sure he had gotten him with the move, but was quickly growing frustrated as he jumped high above him. The technique he used reminded him of Bounce, so he too used Bounce. The amphibian turned the veil of water into little compressed ninja daggers in his hands, as his legs sprung him up to the sky, his arms outstretched like the other one was doing.

During this, Angel resumed her elegant and classical dance, her jumping in time to Quaju's jump, and landing like a ballerina. That's when she began to tap dance a little, making one leg click and clack to a rising tempo before her other leg followed suit. She peeked over to the battlefield to see that the two Pokemon were Bouncing towards one another. She just hoped that a hit lands on the opponent, as Quaju wasn't as skilled in using Bounce unlike his other moves. She glanced over to Knox, trying to read him, but his stoic face made it nigh impossible, along with his whistling. She thought that his whistling was about as complicated as her dance routines, but she doesn't tell her Pokemon what to do, she just goes with the flow. This is the moment she knew that her opponent was going to win, and she might as well give it her all.

"Crescent! Counter that with Aerial Ace!" Ken shouted. Crescent then did a flip in the air before flying at Sting as he was engulfed in streaks of white lights. "Let's Go Crescent!" Ken cheered from behind as he clenched his fists.

The attacks scraped sides as each Pokemon flew past, similar to jousting of the past. Ry knew Sting had been hit by the attack, and knew it had been a super effective attack. However he didn’t get a chance to see if X-Scissor landed. Sting flew forward after making his move, and made a sharp turn.

Ry looked at the Bug and Poison Type and shared a nod. “String Shot!” Ry shouted pointing with his right hand in the direction of Cresent. From Sting’s mouth, a thin white silky thread was launched that rushed towards the Salamance. If it landed, it would wrap around the Pokemon’s legs and wings, slowing down the Pokemon.

The two frogs collided mid air, Sumu coming in from above and Quaju from below. There was no explosion, no real sound other than those made by the Pokémon. The Greninja's veil of water dissipated as the Toxicroak's outstretched fist made contact, the dark type's own fist striking back, landing a direct blow to the side of the mouth. Despite the hefty chunk of damage the flying type move did to Sumu he barely flinched as his cheek was stretched by his foes attack. Instead he kept his composure and landed on the balls of his feet, smoothly, gracefully. He wiped the side of his face where he'd been hit, numbing the stinging he was feeling. After that he let his arms hang down in front of him, a completely unreadable expression on his face as that bright red throat sack swelled and shrank repeatedly.

As they had both hit their intended targets, with the Toxicroak's punch hitting him in the face. As the hits connected, he was pushed back by Sumu's fall. He fell down toward the ground, but he foresaw this coming, as he readied himself to land. As his feet touched the ground, he pushed off, doing a back flip and finally landing without fear of falling over and making himself look like a fool. A little bit of his compressed dagger was chipped off during the impact, and, too, began to breathe heavily. He was waiting for Sumu to move, but then he thought about his other teammates. He looked toward the ground of the opponent and smirked. He needed to help them, if he wasn't going to move on and beat Sumu. He threw something to the ground that kind of looked like a water pellet that turned into mist. When the mist dispersed, all that was left was a life-size toy of him, sitting limply on the ground.

He had used Substitute.

From behind the Substitute, he threw out Spikes on the field, hopefully either slowing down the frog, or hurting his other teammates. Hopefully, none of his Pokemon knew Rapid Spin.

Willa folded her arms and looked at Brodie expectantly. The girl claimed that she was ready, and yet she still hadn't called out a Pokemon? Willa had been hoping to start the battle right then and there, but it didn't seem like that would be the case unless Brodie intended to do the fighting herself. The Vermillion trainer chuckled a bit at the thought, but quickly composed herself. She reminded herself that she had an intimidating persona to keep up, and chuckling would not help that image. Though, looking over Brodie again, Willa deduced that any hope she had of intimidating her opponent had died long ago.

"Ahem," Willa coughed as she gestured toward Java, who had already began dozing off. Spending most of its days inside Willa's laptop hadn't been a very god influence on the digital Pokemon. Java was used to almost constant stimulation from the Internet, after all. "Please, send out your Pokemon.

Crescent flew around after getting grazed by the opposing Pokémon's X-Scissor. Both Crescent and Ken glanced at the silk thread that was shot out of the Beedrill's mouth. "Burn it with Flamethrower!" Ken shouted. Crescent shot a stream of fire at the silk string, burning it. Now both the fire shot by Crescent and the fire that was burning the String Shot were headed towards Sting.
