"And Jake's Pikachu goes down. That's tonight's battle folks, see you guys here tomorrow!" the announcer said over a microphone. The man who beat him walked over to Jacob.
"Pay up, kid."

12 years ago, Pokémon battling was outlawed, but people didn't want to give that up. They kept battling. After a sinkhole. Closed Lilycove safari zone, all battles have been taking place there. Every night, they gather for battling.

Jake snuck back into his house, and back in his room. His parents wouldn't be fond of his illegal battling.

Sapphire or Solar was not new in the battling scene. She had gotten a taste of it when she was young, before it was outlawed, and like a drug, she became heavily addicted. It was all she ever wanted to do, even in the shadows. Battling was her life- not only that, but she was good at it. But it was never good enough for Sapphire. The girl craved victory. She strived to be the best, and wasn't going to let anyone stand in her way. She hummed softly, watching a battle before her. It was her night off, no battles, only sizing up competition. Their Pokémon, their fighting styles, everything. She watched a boy, probably around her age lose the battle and hand over his money. Losing with grace was something Sapphire admired, but not something she could do herself. "Better luck next time kid." She stated, as he walked past her on his way out. He definitely had potential. With a sigh, she went back to watching the next battle.

Jacob sighed. "Its not my Pokémon. They aren't to blame. Its me." He said, pondering his skills as a battler. "Maybe next time. Maybe next time." he repeated in his head.

Jett's childhood consist of battling with friends, that is before it was outlawed, he was a strong young trainer, but once it got outlawed he vowed to himself to find a way to continue battling, so there he stood watching and winning battles that he never thought he'd see again. He may only have two pokemon but they have been with him for a ling time and know what battling is and along with that to hide the moves from their opponents they use something called strategies, which are ques that they use to coordinate attacks.

Jett watched as a battle was going on and saw the kid lose. "You tried, you failed, but you tried." Jett said to himself.

"Jacob Raze! Winner of all!" Jacob Said, heading home. "Sparky? We have training to do, but we have to squeeze it in. I have a lot of battles tommorow."

The Underground had a couple of rooms, a relax room for those who will soon battle, a viewers room, a battle room, a common area, and a large gym area. That's how Pokémon trained. Unless you talked to Black Marketers. The crawled the place, letting you buy rare candy, boosts, and they would even hunt down a certain Pokémon for you. It was an extremely dangerous place, but it was one Jacob liked.

He got home, and instantly went to bed.

The next night was Sapphire's night. She was standing in the centre of the crowd, a smirk on her face. Solar was so far the champion of the night. "Come on, is anyone brave enough to take me on?" She challenged, eyeing the few who only recently entered the room. A smirk was plastered on her face. She was definitely boasting, but having fun with this.

Jacob had just finished a battle that he won. As the man offered him money, he refused. "I don't do this for money. Just the fun. " he laughed. "Okay. Sparky we don't have a battle scheduled. Gym time!"

Sapphire stood in the middle of the gym, a cheering crowd surrounding her, and her latest victim, who was in the process of paying her. Once that was done, she tucked her earnings into her pocket, and the man she beat had disappeared into the crowd. "Anyone else man enough to take me on?" She challenged, obviously boasting her skills and making fun of all those who called battling a 'man's sport', even before it was outlawed. Eyes that matched the color of her namesake landed on a newcomer to the gym, wanting to see if he'd respond. When nothing happened immediately, she pouted cutely and sighed. "Are you all too scared to fight me?"

"Hi. Can I fight you?" Mike asked derply. He hadn't drank his alcohol yet and was acting... normal. He had been staring at Sapphire's battles for nearly an hour, and decided to give it a shot. I mean, he does have one of the strongest Pokemon in the world. At least, he thought so. It's not like he had a plan, but if he did lose he wouldn't care. He just won in the casino and wanted to waste all his money. Mike was pretty retarded. At least, when he isn't serious. "I'm Lit Fam," he said.

She just stared at him for a moment after he said his name, and just outright laughed, only pausing for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "Oh dear Arceus, you're serious." She cleared her throat and extended her hand as a good gesture before a battle commenced. "They call me Solar. And losing isn't something I'm good at. Keep that in mind." She winked, a smirk playing at her lips. After shaking his hand, she moved back a few steps, making room for a battlefield. "Alright then, show me what you're made of."

Mike stared at him for a while. "What does serious mean?" he asked half joking. He nodded as Solar introduced herself. As he shook her hand he wondered what she was smiling about. "Nevermind, I want to win. Hopefully I can," he replied. Mike decided to continue acting as a child even though he was clearly an alcoholic, as seen by his tired eyes and beer, barely not falling, in his back pocket. "Ok. Try your best EmoWeed," he said calmly. His pokeball revealed a depressed Gloom. "What do you have?" Mike asked.

She cleared her throat and grabbed her pokeball. "Luna, your turn." She threw the ball and a well-groomed Umbreon appeared, determined red eyes fixated on her opponent. With a smirk on her lips she knew that this man didn't stand a chance. "Luna, use Psychic." She stated, having memorized all there was to know about type advantages, and that since Gloom was a poison type, Psychic would be super effective.

"Oh no. You fainted. Yay, ok come here," Mike said forcefully dragging EmoWeed to where he was before. "Here take this," he told EmoWeed. He shoved a revival herb into EmoWeed's mouth. "Return nerd. Go Dog20BlazeIt. Use double kick," he ordered. The obedient growlithe jumped in the air and used his hind legs to try and strike umbreon. In case Sapphire switched into her Puplup, Mike already formed a strategy.

She grunted and sighed. The look on the other's face was just a telltale sign of a plan. So while Sapphire did switch out, it wasn't to her Piplup which would typically be an obvious choice, she brought out Raichu, wanting to see how he'd react. "Luna, return. Go Jupiter."

"This is pathetic." Jett said to himself as he watched the battle between Solar and Mike. "Hey how about tomorrow you take me on for an actual challenge?" Jett yelled out from the back of the watching area.

Jacob walked over to the battle. "Well this seems....intense?" he looked at his watch. "How long has it been going? Hmm. There is somewhere i have to be, i'll see you guys." he said to a couple of friends in the crowd. As he began to leave, there was a sign. A group of people nobody wanted to see around here. Construction workers.

"OI SHUT UP! I'M JUST GETTIN' STARTED! DOG20BLAZEIT USE DIG!"(this is a thing in a Pokemon game so it should be allowed)Mike shouted. He finally began drinking after a while and already he was drunk. Dog20BlazeIt barked and jumped into the ground. Mike smirked at his strategy, even if Jupiter used a move, Dog20BlazeIt would take no damage and use a super-effective move against one of Sapphire's strongest Pokémon. Plus, he had a backup plan. "Yes, this will work out nicely," Mike said aloud without realizing.

Mikaela looked at the battle with a 'the-f*ck-is-this' look before sighing dragging the bag that consist of a sleeping Wynaut. She didn't come to this place to battle, she also come for the money. Not to be rich, just to survive. As she neared the booth where her client is, she dropped the bag on the table "Pay up." the man didn't say anything, he only look up at Mikaela with a glint in his eyes. She 'tch' knowing that this man is not going to pay up. "Very well..." she press the button of one of her pokeballs not bothering on grabbing the ball. As Lizbeth appeared behind her she gave the man a glare "Pay. Up." But the man didnt, he only took out his Metagross in which Mikaela scoffed at.

"I dont have time for this..." Mikaela gestured for Lizbeth which she nodded at before her eyes glowed and in a matter of second both the man and the Pokémon were floating up in the air. "This hardly a battle at all..." she commented "Shadow Ball Barrage." Lizbeth created multiple shadow balls before launching them to the two. The booth exploded as the man and the Pokémon were send flying because of the attack. Mikaela grin as she walked towards the man, who looked half dead, she grabbed his wallet and any valuables he has "Thank you very much~"

Meanwhile in the background of all of... This, was Rostov Tinn. Also known as Rusty whenever he feels like battling. His fearsome Pangoro, Gordon, stood next to him, his onyx gaze pinned onto the battle before them.

"... Goro." Gordon glanced at Rostov, brow quirking up slightly.

"Yes, they are decent trainers, that's for sure." He took a seat on a crate behind him and held a lit up cigarette between his pinched fingers, drawing out more smoke, only to blow it out.
All for the sake of his nicotine.

If only Pokémon battles weren't outlawed.

He looked up at Gordon, cocking a brow.
"Did'ja wanna fight the winner?" Gordon nodded excitedly in response.

"Goro, goro!" A sudden grin appeared on the intimidating Pokémons face, it nodding said face. He hit a fist on his chest, letting out its trademark cry during battle; "Pangoro!"

"I guess we are then." With a quick motion of his hand, Rostov tossed the rest of his cigarette into a ashtray and got up, making his way through the crowd and toward where the current battle was taking place.
