This RP takes place in the Batman Arkham universe (the game series), exactly a month after the supposed unmasking and death of Batman when saving Gotham city from Scarecrow. The weakened city was expecting to fall into chaos, but many others have stepped up to clean up the streets. A mysterious, black and red nightmarish bat figure has been leaving criminals terrified, and a vigilante in a red helmet has been killing criminals across the city. A loose gang of teens wearing Robin hoodies lead a war against a clown-faced gang called the Jokerz. The police force, however, have finally stumbled upon Scarecrows equipment, and are making their own plans.

Name: William Gray A.k.a Luminous
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Appearance: He has short, scruffy light brown hair, dark brown eyes, and is medium height. He is quite skinny, and wears a brown jacket with a white shirt underneath and dark blue jeans when at work. His costume is made up of dark grey armour plating, leaving some small areas of skin exposed between the plates. The mask is like one huge armour plate, fitting onto the helmet piece to cover up the front. It is dark grey metal with yellow goggle lenses. On the arms of the suit all the way down to the hands are metal tubing, with an exposed top. This is to extend the laser whips from.
Personality: As a detective, he is naturally distrusting and paranoid, but has a brilliant predictive mind. He tends to be quiet, but is trusted in his work. Luminous however, lets loose the other side of him. Never afraid to make a pun, Luminous believes that there is still hope for Gotham and it's people, hoping his light to be a symbol.
Skills: Is adept at a form of military hand to hand combat, but prefers to use unorthodox fighting methods. Is skilled at using his laser whips, and can predict movements well. Is very light with the plating being less heavy than armour.
Weapons/Equipment: Armour plating, can extend Laser whips from wrists. These travel along the tubing, visible from the top. They are yellow in colour and are like solid light. They also make anyone caught inside them far lighter. Due to his powers they can extend as far as he needs them to.
Backstory: Showing up at Gotham, aged 18 and enlisting for the police force, William Gray managed to reach his dream as a detective. However, dangerous surgery by scientists that he received when he was younger (attempting to replace his wrist bones with solid light as an experiment) had instead left him with the ability to extend whips of solid light from his wrists, his actual bones moving the solid light to the side of his wrists. He decided to make the most of it, and always believed that the results he saw as a detective would be avenged by Batman. That somebody was doing something. But when Batman was unmasked, and supposedly died, he took it upon himself to get justice for the victims he finds.
It had been exactly a month since the disappearance of Batman. Police commissioner James Gordon stood, behind a microphone at the top of the City Hall steps. "So, now that we have discussed the past, It is time to take action. I welcome to you, Miss Cordelia Arkham." A young, surprisingly athletic blonde woman in serious attire stepped out, taking Gordon's place. "As I succeed my uncle Jeremiah Arkham's place as the director of Arkham Asylum, I plan to make a bold new vision for Gotham, and it's troubles. Arkham will become a stronghold for Gotham, taking the fear from it's name. We will rehabilitate the criminally insane, make them useful to society. And I plan to work closely with the police to achieve this. It is just a shame Gotham's Bat is not around to see it." William Gray looked at the broadcast, on a small screen above the plaza. It had happened the night before, and now he was walking through the cold winds of Gotham, watching it on the screen above. As he heard those last words he felt like she meant the complete opposite. Didn't matter. There was a body here in Jezebel Plaza, had fell from a roof, crashing through the glass screen. The forensic group were cordoning off the area and checking for DNA. He looked up, directly above the body bag. It was obvious where he had fallen from, but how? Having the identity of the body would help.
