Private/Closed Bootleg Bros. Ultimate - The Muspell Campaign

SPC

Bennet mostly brushed off the lightning. "Oh that, the lightning...yeah it just happens every now and again. Every other day something comes up, so I just get used to these sort of things. No sense whining about it, right?" He seemed like he genuinely was used to improbably bad things happening to him, but... if they were all on this scale...

"How are you still alive?" Shay asked, amazement in his voice. "If events such as being struck by lightning are commonplace to you, then surely all of this would have added up to you just... dying? Lightning is supposed to be lethal regardless, and you've just brushed it off. How-" he turned as he noticed footsteps approaching, and mentally prepared for a fight, in case one of those Muspell foes was approaching.

Luckily, as he turned his head, he saw it was simply the warrior with the blue blade of energy- though the blade was gone, now. Presumably, the fight was won, as he didn't seem like the type of person to take a break. He turned back to Bennet. "That warrior- the one who has, or had, a blade of blue energy- what is his name? I would like to know him."

“Hup…” Nikki grunted as she knelt down, setting Miss Fjorm on the ground- though, even with Carbon melting a circle of snow around their feet, it still felt weird to just leave her on the ground like that.

“Hey, don’t look so worried! Doctor Nikki is on it, Bennett, alright? Everyone’ll be okay on my watch, I mean it!” Nikki cracked her fingers, looking toward Semla, the Blosswine looking back to meet her trainer’s gaze as she continued focusing on the Psyshield. “Semla, how about a little bit of Grassy Terrain for my homegirl here? She needs a little something extra!”

The Pokemon grunted, one arm falling away from the air and pointing downward. The creature seemed to strain a bit from using two moves at once, but a ring of extremely lush grass began to sprout from the ground below. Almost supernaturally so, some blades even coiling around Miss Fjorm’s arms.

“This is the number one medicine to beat all medicines- nice, fresh Grassy Terrain is sure to rejuvenate anyone! E-Eventually. Some things are faster, but this’ll help her feel better!” Nikki cleared her throat, raising Fjorm’s head onto an especially plump shrub of the grass. It was pretty lucky she’d taken the time to teach Semla this move, actually- it wasn’t usually something she’d have in her arsenal, though it was really smart and handy to have access to. Really, her usage of this move was inspired by a certain other trainer’s usage of a Grass-type Pokemon with soothing properties.

She turned her head just in time to spot Anakin walking toward the group- he’d definitely been way deeper in the thick of the fight than she had. She first spoke to Shay, and then to Anakin himself.

“That guy? That’s Anakin! Hey, Anakin! You alright!?” she called out, waving her arms, ripping a chunk of the fresh terrain out. “Want some grass??”

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 1 Evening, Nifl Plains—

At the head of the march back down the hill to reunite with the group’s other half, Anakin got a wave and a call from Nikki.

...

Why would he want grass?

“Uh, thanks, I’m fine,” Anakin waved back with his gloved hand. “Not really uh, hungry right now.”

Yet as Anakin entered the Grassy Terrain circle, he felt a sudden sense of... tranquility? The force itself seemed to favor this ring of nature, a calming allure settling over his soul. The bitter rage and fear stuffed within seemed to, for a moment, abade.

“Whoa...” the general raised his eyebrows, taking a moment to stop and adjust to this sudden feeling as he crossed his arms over his chest. This is what Nikki probably meant. However, before he could ask any questions, his blue eyes focused on Fjorm’s unconscious body, then a somewhat battered Bennett, and finally upon the newcomer.

“Who’s he?” Anakin asked casually as he gestured to Shay.

Bennett

"How are you still alive?" Shay asked

This line of questioning had him a little on the spot, sweat coming down his cheek. To be entirely honest with himself, he had no idea how. He just felt a burning fire as his vision he had on him would just...reduce it. He couldn't really explain it. At least, not without sounding mad.

"I guess a god doesn't want me to die just yet, huh?" He chuckled, wiping off some semi dried blood from his face.

That's when 'Doctor Nikki' jumped into action. Things turned a greenish hue as grass and shrubbery came into being. Just being around it felt...refreshing somehow? Taking a cautious hand to the grass, he raked it across it. Seemed like it was therapeutic just touching the stuff despite having a glove in the way. Deciding to sit down on it, he gave an exhale, his pain he was ignoring subsiding in a hurry.

"Ahh...that's the stuff! I didn't know they could do that, thanks buds!"

Anakin had been introduced to Shay while he was focused on this, Bennett barely registering the going ons around him. Though when he opened his eased eyes, Anakin was before him, gesturing towards Shay with his question.

"Oh, him? That's Shay. He's an adventurer just like us! He really knows his stuff too!"

You Know Who This Is.

Shay's question was answered by Nikki, who called the warrior Anakin. The warrior asked who Shay was, to which Bennet gave a quick explanation, which Shay elaborated on. "My name is Shay Patrick Cormac. I was sneaking through these woods when your battle against the Muspell forces began. I've been acting as somewhat of a partisan against them since my arrival here. I trust that we can be allies?"

Getting on Anakin's good side would be paramount to fighting against Muspell, and really basic survival. Given his incredible capabilities, being his enemy was a very bad idea- that energy blade could kill him instantly. So, Shay was trying to guarantee that Anakin would be on his side, as that would be quite useful for future battles.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 1 Evening, Nifl Plains—

“Yeah, sure,” the jedi shrugged at Shay’s offer nonchalantly. “As for sneaking in the woods—we should all start doing that. Right now wouldn’t be a bad idea. Surtr’s guys are catching up and we don’t wanna get caught trying to recover like this.”

He paused, frowning.

“Um... actually, where were we going before this? I could have sworn we had a destination, didn’t we?”

Nifl Plains - Semperviren Forest

~Day 1, Evening~
"Um... actually, where were we going before this? I could have sworn we had a destination, didn't we?" Anakin asked the group. A silence fell as the Heroes looked to each other. Had they a destination? Their plans so far had seemed rather short sighted. Rescue the Princess, investigate an abandoned fort, investigate the smoke columns. Everything had seemed to happen so quickly that there had been no time to focus on an overall end destination.

"North... the mountains..."

With the power of the Grassy Terrain, Fjorm had regained consciousness. Despite some of the grass having grown around her arms, the Princess felt peaceful in this zone of healing and regeneration. She slowly sat up, and looked to the group. Seeing that Bennett was looking quite better than when she last saw him, she tried to give the adventurer a reassuring smile.
"My sister, Gunnthrá. After the fall of the castle... she retreated to the mountains of the north, in the hopes of finding allies or a way to commune with Nifl."

The faint scent of smoke waifed through the forest, yet another reminder that this was no place they should remain. The group departed, moving as swift as they could through the cold, wintery pine forest.

Night quickly approached, and the group was forced to stop. They found a small cave in the side of a hill, a perfect place for shelter against the wind. It was there they began to set up for the night. Despite her injuries, Princess Fjorm attempted to help the best she could. She went through the supplies she had gathered from the outpost, bringing out the rations she had taken. Stealth was not a strong suit of the Muspell army, and it was likely the Mashers would hear or smell the fiery hordes before they saw them...

“Hungry…?” Nikki blinked at Anakin- thankfully, he then seemed to realize the grass was not for eating. The last thing she needed was for people to think she grazed like some kinda Ponyta.

She folded her arms and smiled, as Semla’s Grassy Terrain ring seemed to help everyone stabilize a bit after that gritty clash against the Muspell forces. Then, Anakin put forward the question- what now?

Nikki’s lack of knowledge surrounding this world was really proving troublesome- she was confused, disoriented, and at a bit of a loss. If this were Alola or Porto- heck, even Johto, she would have a much better idea of where they could go and what they could do. Here… she just wasn’t sure if there was somewhere trustworthy for them to head to, and that sucked. Sucked a ton. For now, it seemed like the only option was to just keep moving and hope to stay out of the fire army’s crosshairs- luckily, Fjorm seemed to stir and offer a better alternative than ‘try not to get TOASTED!’

Her sister, in the mountains. That sounded great! Especially if this Gunnthrá had found more allies in her search, right? Nikki dared not point out how friggin’ cold it was going to get, though, there were more important things to focus on right now- including finding shelter, as things slowly began to drift further toward nightfall…

Out of her three active Pokemon, it was Pierogi who Nikki decided to leave out of his ball- the sniffling sky whale could carry plenty, on top of being nice and speedy- so she recalled both Carbon and Semla for the time being, to get some much-earned rest.

When they found the cave, Nikki was joyous- they could warm up and rest in here as things outside turned far too dark to continue any further… the only downside was that Pierogi was too big to fit in through the mouth, plopping down outside and chirping softly.

Doing her best to help the still-injured Fjorm, it would soon dawn on Nikki that this period of respite wouldn’t be a long one…

“Eh, does it smell kind of smokey to anyone else?” she inquired. “I haven’t even lit the fire yet, what gives??”

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 1 Midnight, Semperviren Forest—

The mountains...

Anakin’s eyes turned to the distant peaks, and he let out the briefest of sighs. That was a two second trip in his starfighter... and it would take the better part of tomorrow to reach their destination.

The group gathered their wits and their strength and moved on, leaving the encroaching Muspell forces in the powder, for now. Anakin chose to take up the rear of the group, using the force to encourage gusts of wind, blowing snow about to cover the tracks they were leaving behind. If Muspell truly was following them, then this would make it more difficult for them to keep up.

Though more likely, given the context the jedi had just learned, Muspell was on a direct trajectory for Fjorm’s sister. Gunther, or, whatever her name was.

With the cold chill of night, Anakin was beginning to feel frozen to the core. He hated the cold, it made him slow and numb, so stopping in a cave was a thankful reprieve. Sure to grab the driest wood he could find along the way up the hill into the cave’s mouth, he laid the bundle of branches down in the middle, eager to get a fire started.

“Eh, does it smell kind of smokey to anyone else?” Nikki inquired. “I haven’t even lit the fire yet, what gives??”

“We’re headed to the same place as Surtr,” Anakin said simply, rubbing his arms. “He’ll be looking for Fjorm’s sister as well, and any allies she’s made.”

He was guessing, of course, Fjorm would correct him where he was wrong, but the general had an intuition about these kinds of things- besides, it made the most sense. Surtr was already on the move when they’d brushed against his forces. A detachment had broken off and been defeated, but Surtr remained not far behind. He hadn’t moved his forces to chase them, but to head for his original destination.

Or... perhaps he had seen Fjorm. Maybe he had changed his destination to pursue her, individually. There was also the possibility he believed she would lead him to her sister. However, Anakin had done well at covering their tracks. Either Surtr could still find them regardless of a physical trail, or this really was his intended direction.

Anakin was inclined to believe his initial theory.

“Can anyone light this? I think I forgot my ‘winter survival kit’ back at the jedi temple.”

The force could be used to light a fire, if nothing else, but Anakin wasn’t exactly well trained in that type of force ability. He never honestly thought he’d have to use it. Past Anakin was really screwing him over right now.

Bennett

Without another word, Bennett walked over and tapped the wood with his sword, suddenly the campfire lit up with an abrupt waft of heat. However, it didn't seem like Bennett was the most proud at the moment at this. In fact, he appeared pretty distraught about something. Putting his sword back away, he looked at the campfire, trying hard not to make eye contact with anyone.

"Hey...guys? Before we continue I have to tell you something. You know the geysers that went up around us? Me somehow slipping and ending up in front of that army? The lightning strike? Well...I wouldn't exactly call that coincidence."

Letting out a sigh, he knew he was likely going to be throwing away a chance of adventure here, but it wouldn't be fair to everyone else. They had a big mission to accomplish and him tagging along with this hanging over him would probably compromise it.

"I was born with bad luck. I'm serious, the worst things happen around me if I want it to or not. I make the best of it, but it can get people around me seriously hurt. It's been pretty tame so far, but I don't want you guys to fail the mission just because I'm here."

Keeping his act together, Bennett looked down, seeming to already accept his fate.

"So...if you guys want to ditch me I understand."

Little Crow
-Winding Down, Semperviren Forest-
They had found a nice cave in the snow-swept woods, and began setting up a fire. The Reaper settled in and sat on his haunches. He tossed a small mote of fire to light the campfire as he did. His feathers were spread as if they were a cape running down his back, and he calmly watched the fire as discussions went on around him.

Bennett was cursed- that much was evident. A liability... but he could also be helped, presumably. More the former than the latter at the moment, as the bird couldn't exactly ask where the source of the curse was. The group would probably be better off without him, but where would he go? Despite his decades of work as a killer, the crow was far from heartless.

Giving up on trying to reason this late, the crow looked around at his surroundings. It reminded him of the True Crows hideout, which was stationed up in the mountains bordering the Forbidden Lands. As if on cue, at the far end of the cave, a large pink keyhole faded into existence, hanging in the air. It pulsated with the same-color energy.

Chk-CHK!

The sound of a heavy, old lock being turned echoed through the cave, and the keyhole erupted into a shining white miasma that quickly expanded and rose into the air. It took the shape of a door, and quickly slammed itself on the ground. With a flash of bright light, there stood a physical door, made of grey wood and bound by iron bands. On the front hung the ornate bust of a crow, which took up the entirety of the door's middle, complete with a knocker hanging from its beak.

Little Crow looked over to the door. He hadn't opened that. Still, it opened wide, and a dirty crow wearing a poncho around his torso and a book on his head stepped from the bright white portal. A familiar face. Vaga. The Reaper stood at the appearance of his old friend.

"Little Crow! It was difficult to find you, this universe is outside the normal scope of our jurisdiction..."

Vaga shook his head.

"We need your help. The Cult of the Yeti didn't dissolve as we thought, rather the death of Betty seems to have emboldened them. They've been launching attacks against the Stranded Sailor and straying closer to our hideout..."

Vaga sighed.

"Badger and Grunty have been trying their best to fend them off, but there's something going on, and they haven't been able to permeate their territory as you once did."

The Reaper looked to the rest of the party, and Vaga followed his gaze. He felt guilt. Little Crow couldn't see this objective through if his homeland was in danger.

"...Are those humans?"

Shovel Knight
"Nonsense!" The Knight loudly dismissed Bennett's concern, cheerfully patting the youngster on the back

"Though you may suffer from a curse, you have the heart of a warrior! The fact that you've persevered this long only prove it!" He praised Bennet with a reassuring nod. "And a true knight never abandons their allies!"

Shovel Knight turned towards the loud creak of a door opening. To his amazement, a door seemed to spawn in from nowhere, opening up to a strange location. A crow heavily resembling their own avian ally stood in the middle, addressing the little crow. Whoever they are, they appear to have a rapport.
Shovel Knight's eyes met the crows own as they looked back anxiously.

"Does something call you away, little friend?" Shovel knight asked.

Akira Tadokoro

The psychic, for his part, was lying on the outer edges of the group, staring silently into the ceiling of the cavern - He actually didn't feel so bothered about it, as Akira was alreay quite used to traditionally uncomfortable resting places in the form of benches. But still, he looked over rather slowly when the others were speaking, loosely listening.

Sounded like they were sorting out a fire, and talking about a smokey smell...

Then two things occured in quick succession - First, Bennett gave a pained explanation, talking about being born with Bad Luck which had caused both Geysers and Lightning Strikes earlier...In most worlds, that would sound absurd, but at this point the Psychic had seen stranger (A realisation that slightly mortified him.). Bennett even talked about not wanting the mission to fail...

"Dude, look outside. We ditch you, you're probably dead, cold or Muspell." Akira rolled an eye, attempting to rebute Bennett apparently being understanding if they left him. "Sounds like your luck's kinda bullshit, but I'd rather deal with that than leave someone to die."

But, aside from that, and something that got Akira to actually sit up in surprise -
Chk-CHK!

A door had appeared before, something that based on body language alone appeared to be recognized by the Little Crow. Beings appeared through it, speaking to the Avian - clearly, things were wrong over in that world. But they said something that caught Akira's attention.

"What, we rare in your world or some shit?" He scoffed, looking back to the Little Crow. "Whatever. Sounds important, but you going back now or staying? That's your decision, don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
He kept his mind focused on those...friends of the Little Crow, a surface level look at their minds - Sure, it would mostly likely just be what they were saying (People tended to subconsciously think about what they were saying, after all), but there was always the chance of trickery...

Nifl Plains - Semperviren Forest

~Day 1, Evening~

Fjorm gave Nikki a grateful smile as the pair prepared the rations. The conversation continued, and Anakin guessed what the Muspell troop's plans were. The ice princess stopped and seemed to turn even more pale as she considered what the jedi had said. But she snapped herself out of it, shaking her head.
"If Surtur is searching for my sister, then he is free to search in vain. My sister's magics are strong, especially in these icy mountains. Even with that mad trickster woman by his side, there is no way he will find her." Fjorm said. It was something she had to believe. What other choice was there?

Bennett was next to speak up. The young man had used his sword to start the fire, giving warmth to all those in the cave. His usually cheer and up-beat attitude was gone, and the reason why was revealed. The adventurer explained his curse, and inferred that it would be better if he was left behind. Before Fjorm could speak, Shovel Knight and Akira had voiced their objections to that. Fjorm agreed with the pair, nodding.

"Nobody is going to leave you behind, Bennett. Curse or no curse, you still saved me. Just like the rest of the group, I owe you a life debt. I will stand for no talk of leaving you behind, even from you." Fjorm said to Bennett.

Chk-CHK!

Fjorm instinctivly grabbed her lance, turning to face the strange noise. A door had appeared, mid-air in the cave. And emerging from the door... another bird person, like the little crow that had been a part of the group. But this one could speak! Fjorm lowered her lance, her mouth agape as she stared at Vaga in surprise.

...???

One by one people in the party spoke up. Shovel knight being the first, making Bennett jump a bit when the cold steel patted his back. Akira and Fjorm both expressed their wants to keep him in the team with them, the latter being especially insistent. Bennett could barely process it because he was never treated this way back home. Others quickly jumped at the chance to ditch him, Be it abandoning him in a dungeon somewhere, berating him in the town square, or something else. For them to experience the consequences of keeping him around but choosing hold on to him regardless...it welled an emotion in him that tugged at his heart.

"You guys..." He looked between them with gratitude before balling up a fist. "I'll do my best to not hold you guys back, you got my word on that! ...Though we might have to shelve that whole life debt thing."

Bennett gave sheepish laughter at that, trying change the mood from the downer one he had set. But it seemed as though the air was bound to change sooner than expected, for a mysterious door had emerged, one that housed another bird similar to crow, but had speech capabilities.

"Woah...huh?" he muttered, taken aback. He then shook his head, putting his head back on straight. "Sounds like things aren't sounding so good back where you come from, huh? If you need to go help them out, I say go for it. Don't worry about us, we'll make it work."

“Ugh… we’ve got to get there before he does, then. Better yet, maybe I can cross paths with the guy and show him what real firepower looks like, yeh!” Nikki huffed, pounding her fists together, ready to fight just at the mention of Surtr’s name- though Fjorm’s words put her a bit at ease. “Army or no army, Carbon will put ‘im in the dirt."

She then seemed to remember how tiring the day had been, and looked toward the unlit fire- though it didn’t remain unlit for very long.

“Ahhh, that’s… that’s so nice,” Nikki sighed happily as the campfire came to life thanks to Bennett’s blade, falling down to her knees in front of it and opening her arms, as if she were about to give the fire itself a hug. It was no warm Alolan beach or anything, but the fire felt absolutely heavenly against her cold, cold skin in this cold, cold cave.

The momentary peace she felt was offset by something pretty troubling, though- it was Bennett, with talks of being some kind of burden. Nikki hummed under her breath, listening as others voiced their support- she was glad. This really was a pretty good group of people she’d found herself with. Bennett seemed to be feeling pretty revitalized by their words.

“Yeah, that’s right! Get fired up! I mean, it’s true that you’re a pretty unlucky guy, but let’s break this down- hit by lightning, that’s like… minus a thousand luck points. The geysers are minus another thousand luck points. Sounds pretty bad, right? Negative two thousand! But! You totally lucked out with your allies here! Everyone here is super nice and cool, so that’s like, ten thousand luck points per person. Plus one-hundred-thousand because of me! So you’re way in the positives anyway!” she explained, as if this were actually a real metric. “Anyway, we’re lucky to have you here too, Bennett- you do what’s right and you give it your all. So if you do try and ditch us, I won’t forgive you!” she concluded with a jestful leer.

There was just one more, ahem, occurrence going on in the cave- and it was a pretty big one.

Was she just tired, or was this really happening? Had that door been there the whole time, or what?? Nikki stared with wide eyes as it opened up, acting as some kind of… portal? She rubbed at her eyelids with her fists, but she was still seeing it. Nikki wasn’t unfamiliar with portals- actually, Alola was famously the site of all those Ultra Wormholes, years ago. This was different though, and had more to do with Little Crow’s world than anything, evidently.

“Eh? Little Crow, you’ve got to leave, huh?” Nikki leaned onto her side, propping herself up on an elbow- growing more aware of how uncomfortable this armor was, now that all the excitement of battle and everything was all but worn off. “Uh, I know I just said ‘if you try and ditch us I won’t forgive you’ to Bennett, but- sounds like you’ve got a pretty big circumstance over there! No hard feelings! You go handle your business, and we’ll handle the rest of the mashing here!” she offered. That portal, though… was it possible that there could be similar gateways around this world? Ways home for the rest of them? That was a HUGE pressure off of her shoulders, if so!

Little Crow
-Evening, Semperviren Forest-
The questions and assurances poured in, the crow looking to each of his allies as they spoke up.

"Does something call you away, little friend?"

The Reaper slowly nodded in response. He was grateful that there was no animosity between them. Meanwhile, Akira questioned Vaga. The psychic asked if humans were rare in their world, and the disheveled crow was about to answer before Akira curtly changed the subject. After his piece, he skimmed Vaga's surface thoughts, where he gathered that Vaga was currently getting a read on the psychic's personality. Also, if he cared about the answer to his question, he would find out that humans were indeed rare where he came from, as one could go several years without seeing more than a dozen. Vaga himself hadn't seen a live one in decades.

After individually acknowledging each of the humans' reactions, the crow turned back to Vaga and opened his beak.

"Caw."

"What's that? You discovered an empire that magically enslaves beings from other worlds to use in its totalitarian conquest?"

Vaga looked past Little Crow and to the rest of the group.

"Well, that's certainly not good. I would hate to reduce your manpower in this noble quest without giving anything in return..."

Vaga thought for a second, considering what he could give the group in return. He seemed to have an idea.

"Say... this place doesn't look comfortable. What if I told you I could give you all a safe place to stay? My friend returns home, and you all get a 'home base', so to speak. Is that a fair trade?"

The pair of birds stared out at the group to gauge their reactions, and if the group was open to it, Vaga would gesture for them to follow as the two-crow murder went back through the open door.

If Akira was still peering into Vaga's mind, he would find no deception or trickery. Wherever was on the opposite side of the door was truthfully a safe spot for them to rest with no catches, hidden fees, or traps.

---

On the other side of the door was a greyscale world, devoid of all color- save for any colored light sources that the group would have brought inside. They emerged onto an island, adrift in a void of fog and closed doors. The floor was made of ancient, weathered stone tile, and an empty fountain sat in the middle of the area. Along one side of the island, telegraph lines and ruined mortar walls ran.

One way, the telegraph lines extended into the foggy unknown, while the other declined into another, larger island. There was a stairway to said island, with stone steps and intricately designed iron railings. The larger area had something more akin to checkerboard tile using different shades of grey. At the north end was another door, where the telegraph lines entered into the side. In front of the door was a macaroni-shaped desk, adorned with a typewriter, a dead succulent, and other clutter. The rest of the space was practically empty- besides the eight other pairs of office desks and chairs in varying degrees of disorganization and disrepair. Finally, in the very bottom of the area, there sat a lone phone booth. Like a debris field around the main islands were smaller ones, many of which hosted streetlamps.

Another telegraph line came from the other side of the door, which led to a third island. This one was separated by the main landmass by an old-school elevator, though it was blocked by a rope and sign that read 'OUT OF ORDER'. From any vantage point, nothing important seemed to be up there anyhow. Especially apparent due to the elevator, this entire realm had an apparent theme around the early 1900s of America.

Vaga led the group down the stairs, kicking aside a glass bottle as he did.

"It's not much, but it's safe! Both from the weather and your tyrannical foe..."

The larger crow went behind the macaroni desk to rummage through its compartments for a moment. He soon found what her was looking for, and held it up for all to see. A handheld item, that bore a six-inch grip connected to a large metal ring. A porous puck was suspended in the center of the ring via eight metallic coils. Though none of them would likely recognize it, this resembled an early microphone.

"This is how we'll keep in touch. When you need to come back here, speak into this, and we shall open a door from your location to here. From then on, you can go back to that place anytime you wish. Just don't use it with enemies nearby, since they can follow you through... and that would be less than ideal. Questions?"

Vaga perked his head up, inspecting the group for any amount of confusion they may have.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 1 Midnight, Semperviren Forest—

Anakin stoked the flames for a moment. Bennett’s use of fire had made it really simple to get it going. Using the force, he amplified its power, emboldening the flames to make them higher and hotter. A warmth settled into the cave, leaving plenty of those present to appreciate what it offered.

Bennett then told them about his bad luck. Anakin listened, still paying attention to the flames. Others offered encouraging words, though the jedi felt mostly indifferent. It wasn’t as though the kid had any power over it, at least how he’d described. Anakin already didn’t blame him for the earlier mishaps, but now there was an outside force at work, one unfamiliar to the knight.

Anakin didn’t mind the challenge posed by this bad luck.

He looked up at the emergence of a door, and a feathered person who emerged from it to peak with the crow. Anakin was silent, listening and absorbing all that was said as his brain started to churn. And through the door, one by one, the Mashers went. Anakin glanced at the fire before he sighed and shook his head, using the force to bury it under a mound of snow he yanked in before he entered the portal.

The world beyond felt strange, yet also not. Once again, Anakin’s mind sought out thoughts of the World Between Worlds... a Jedi tale, nobody had ever found it, not that he knew. Not even Master Yoda. Still, these gateways, the strangeness, how this world’s barriers had been crossed...

“Questions?” Vaga asked.

“Can you open doors elsewhere?” Anakin asked. “Can you open it to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant?”

Bennett grinned, relieved at Nikki's jests, not a hint of any sort of worry in her voice. Is that just the kind of person she was? Not afraid of the unknown or willing to ignore danger if it meant being with friends? It made him grateful that she was here on the journey with him.

“Anyway, we’re lucky to have you here too, Bennett- you do what’s right and you give it your all. So if you do try and ditch us, I won’t forgive you!”

"Hahaha, okay okay!" Bennett scratched the back of his head. "If it's really okay with you, then I'll try extra hard to not be in the way-"

After saying this, he hit the side of his head on the door, not looking where he was going.

"...Ow..."

.....
.....
.....

Inside was unlike anything Bennett had ever seen. It looked like a place in a storybook, the style being all different and the surrounding being highly alien to him. Back home had nothing like this.

"Wow, it's like a whole serenitea pot in here!" Bennett exclaimed in awe. "We can really stay here? Nobody's ever asked me to stay at their place before...I'll gladly take it if you'd have me!"

Serenitea pots were a rare tech in his universe, made by the Adepti. They were little teapots was were bigger on the inside, holding miniature realms inside. From little island to a mountain top, little escapes. The Traveler had one of those, but he hadn't actually seen the traveler in some time now that he thought about it.

The Hall of Doors

Day 1 - Evening

Fjorm blinked as her eyes adjusted to the strange land around her. The air here was cool, comfortable, if not a little stale. A world of grey and black, floating within a strange void. She had heard of places like this, one of many different names. The Aether. The Astral Realm. The Outrealm. The Deeprealms. The Somniel. A place between the boundary of the realms, within the bark of Yggdrasil. The place seemed dirty and run down, but it was a place between the worlds! This would be a perfect place for them to rest and recover. No need to stay as vigilante for Muspell forces. They could store supplies here, meaning they could travel lighter. It was a perfect place.

Fjorm bowed to Vaga, accepting the device from Vaga.
"Thank you for your hospitality, sir. I am Princess Fjorm of Nifl. What is your name?" The Princess asked Vaga.

Hall of Doors
-Evening-
The reaction of the group was generally awestruck, as the crows would have assumed from humans. Vaga was quick and enthusiastic to respond to the questions as they came.

"Coruscant? You refer to a realm from your own universe. I'm afraid it's not that simple. The multiverse... is like any realm. To plot a course, you must first map out the route. Our current map only really has some half-dozen universes all in the same cluster, plus this nexus event... which we were only able to find by tracing Little Crow's whereabouts. While it is technically possible... it'd be like trying to find a needle in a superocean of hay."

Vaga gave an apologetic nod, and then turned his attention to Fjorm.

"Ack! Wherever did I misplace my manners? I am Vaga, leader of the Free Crows. It's an honor."

The crow bowed in respect.

-

Little Crow gave the group one last wave before turning around. He went up to the front desk and rang the bell. After a moment, the door behind it swung open.

"Aw... already? Come on..."

From the doorway emerged another crow, one that looked disheveled. He saw the Reaper and stopped. Little Crow pushed past the unkempt crow as he threw his hands up in frustration before he turned to follow his fellow corvid. Before he did, however, he glanced at the group in disapproval. Then, he disappeared as the door closed.

Vaga had glanced over his shoulder to witness the exchange.

"...That was a glimpse of Chandler. He is the one that will handle the door placement to and from the nexus event."

The crow switched the microphone to the other hand, as his right had gotten tired. With his left, he lifted it a little higher, hoping someone would take it.

Nikki Prez
“Far out…!”

Nikki was studying the place closely, evidently pleased to be somewhere other than a frozen cave. Sure, this place looked a little gloomy, but it was also comfortably familiar in some ways, and she found herself comparing different aspects of this strange, strange place to locations from back home. The fog sort of reminded her of Mistport, and the greyness combined with the stone-brick architecture… wasn’t too unlike The Knee of Arceus, yeah! And those lights sorta looked like Postmor, too!

Needless to say, she was getting a little homesick. A little MORE homesick.

“This is super helpful! That’ll give us a huge advantage against Muspell- our own creepy lil’ pocket dimension to retreat to! Uh, not that Nikki Prez does much retreating,” she sniffed, folding her arms. “If someone ends up getting hurt, they won’t have to flop around in the snow. And we have a comfortable place to strategize, and plan, and scheme…” she went on listing synonyms, until Fjorm’s display of gratitude quickly reminded Nikki that a thank-you was definitely in order for this.

“This is just what we needed, Mister Vaga! Thanks a lot!” she clasped her hands together. Seeing that he was raising the microphone toward the group, and never the shy one, Nikki stepped forward and accepted the gift, taking a close-up look at the microphone. “So no matter where we are, you’ll be able to open a door for us? That’s the coolest! It’s like the world’s most cracked walkie-talkie!”

Akira Tadokoro

Knowing that these things didn't seem disengenious let the strain off of Akira's shoulder - After all, most people don't hide their mind as well as their words - And thus didn't object to going through the door.

The fact that humans appeared to be, in fact, very rare back in the world these guys were from, though... That was concerning.
Yeah, humans could be pretty messed up, but the idea of most of them not being around still sent a shiver down his spine - Though brushed it off. Maybe humans were never the dominant species in that world and thus didn't grow so much as a population, something like that, would explain the confusion just as much - Akira knew Elephants weren't in danger of going extinct last he knew, but he'd still be surprised to see a bunch of them at his doorstep.

But the world through the door was interesting, he figured. Color seemed to be almost non-existant, for a starter. It all felt like he was viewing a memory... Only much clearer.
"This is weird," Akira murmured, not hiding his opinions much. "Still, whatever - Thanks for the help." He spoke up in addition as he put a hand to the back of his neck and looked at the crows.
When 'Chandler' made a small appearance, Akira was quick to return the dishelved crow's look of disapproval with a fierce glare - The teen had always been like that, quick to play into more negative perceptions of himself by acting in anger against that sort of disapproval... Not that it was exactly unwarranted, with the life he had.

...He'd have to ask about the Item he was given by the Little Crow at some point. Maybe in private, just in case it was some super secret junk.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 1 Midnight, The Hall of Doors—

It wasn’t the answer Anakin had been hoping to hear.

He faded into the background as everyone else came forward with thanks and other words, most of it ignored by the jedi knight. Vaga hadn’t said it was impossible, just nearly so. Maybe the force could guide him... maybe a door in here would be the answer.

Anakin wouldn’t normally abandon somebody in need, and Fjorm’s quarrel with Surtr was just the thing he would have loved to get in the middle of for the fun of it... but he needed to go home. Padme, Palpatine, he felt the future was at stake. Wasn’t it? Without Palpatine, he couldn’t save Padme, and without Padme, what was the point? Would he just leave the jedi and join Ahsoka in whatever she was getting up to?

...

Anakin’s brow furrowed as he reflected on Vaga’s words again, and he turned back to the crow, moving forward. “Vaga, you mentioned a ‘nexus event.’ What did you mean?”

The Hall of Doors

Day 1 - Night

The jedi knight asked a follow-up question, to which Vaga cocked his head.
"Why, that's where you just came from. A conjunction of worlds through some sort of external force... and that would be all I know about the subject myself." After assuring the heroes some more, Vaga left. Fjorm frowned, taking a moment to think.
"Nexus... My sister mentioned something of that name. Some powerful force she had detected. It was another thing she was trying to learn about in this world." Fjorm said.

With Vaga gone and the doors to the other worlds safetly sealed, the Heroes from Other Worlds were able to take there rest. Some meditated. Others reflected on what they had left behind, and what was to come. Yet others spoke in hushed conversation. One by one, they drifted into slumber...

Hall of Doors

Day 2 - Morning

"Goood mornin'! Good mornin'! We've talked the whole night through, good mornin', good mornin' to you~!" A tune came softly over an old radio from the pile of clutter. The streetlamps scattered around the island began to flick off, one by one, as the gray clouds brightened. Fjorm slowly came awake. The night of rest away from the tortures of Loki and Fakemon had rejuvenated the princess, and she faced the day with renewed vigor. After a quick breakfast of rations, the Mashers exited the Hall of Doors, back to the lands of Nifspell. Their mission was simple, yet a difficult one. Locate Princess Gunnthrá, somewhere in the northern mountains. A mission easier said than done. The Heroes traveled to the north, on guard for any Muspell forces hunting them. Despite their pace, the mountains seemed just as distant as ever before. On the horizon, signs of smoke could be seen. Were these more Muspell troops? Or something else?

Semperviren Forest

~Bandit Camp~

Day 2 - Noon
In the forest, a group of bandits huddled around a fire. Their camp was a small one, comprised of a variety of tents and temporary structure.
"Dammit, where the hell is Migal?" One of the bandits grumbled, shivering and moving closer to the fire. "He was supposed to be back an hour ago."
"Maybe that red gremlin got 'im." Another said.
"Serves him right, if thats the case-"

The thugs were interrupted by the rustling of leaves. Another bandit stomped out of the underbrush, ax in hand. He grinned to the group.
"Jackpot, boys!" He announced. "I told you following after that brat would pay off. A pair of towns, right over the river and ripe for the picking! I'm gonna tell the boss!"

The bandit walked over to the central tent, but when he tried to enter, a wall of pink energy appeared and stopped him. He frowned, tapped it with his ax, and looked back to the other bandits in confusion. The others scowled, and the first one shook his head.
"Newbie. She's in there with him."

"Good morning, Howard~"

The bandit leader grumbled, then awoke with a start. He was a man in his 30's, tall and fit, with blond hair. He jumped up in bed, drawing a pistol from under his pillow and staring at the woman that appeared before sighing and shaking his head.
"Damn it, Loki. Haven't you ever heard of knocking?" The man growled. He put on his leather bomber jacket and put the pistol in his waistband behind his back. "And it's Keith."

"Is that any way to greet a friend, Howard? And someone who is about to make you very, very rich." Loki said. Keith scowled, putting on his American Flag bandana.
"There is a certain group of pesky heroes coming through this area that have earned the ire of Lord Surtur." Loki said.
"Who hasn't? The man isn't exactly a sweetheart." Keith said. The sorceress laughed, walking across the tent towards Keith.
"If you kill them before Princess Laevatein reaches them, I shall personally see to your reward." Loki said. She extended her hand, and in a glowing flash of light a deck of cards appeared. The cards were different, the fronts difficult to see, and the back a simple black dot on a brown background. "Riches. Powerful monsters, to vanquish and embarrass your nemesis with. And a continuation of Muspell's blind eye to the raiding and pillaging of your little gang."

Now it was Keith's turn to chuckle. The man opened the chest next to his bed, pulling out a circular metal device. He slid the device onto his arm, and placed a deck of those cards within it.
"You had me at powerful monsters, crazy woman. With the powers from this world, annihilating those dweebs will be a piece of cake."

Bandit Keith takes the offense!

Semperviren Forest

"Whew. I think we can stop here for a moment." Fjorm said. The group reached the top of a small hill, allowing them to look over the remainder of the forest. North of them, a pair of smoke plumes could be seen. But it was not the harsh, black smoke of the Muspell troops. Rather, it was the soft, grey smoke of multiple hearths. In the distance, to the northeast and northwest a pair of villages could be spotted as the source of the smoke. Beyond the villages lay more forest, but by now the heroes could see the end of it. Past the end of the forest, a snowy plain could be seen. One littered with large spikes of ice that were from the ground. And beyond that, the northern mountains lay, ever distant. Fjorm looked back to the group.

"How is everyone holding up?" She asked the others.

Nikki Prez, Ultimate Sleeper
“Me, I’m just… mmm…”

Nikki was very evidently not fully awake yet, evidenced by the fact that she was still wearing her Arcanine pajamas, and… y’know, literally sleepwalking for a solid half of the morning so far. She had one of her Pokemon out and along for the journey, Skyr the Lininth, though the ghostly creature seemed quite nervous about all of the new people. The Pokemon kept fading into sight, punching Nikki in the back to wake her up (who produced a sharp ‘A!’ every time), before becoming almost fully transparent once more.

Another punch.

“A! Wuh. Oh. Thanks, Skyr… I’m…” Nikki yawned, evidently a heavy sleeper. Her head began to nod downward again already, before the girl just fell down to her knees plunged her face into the snow in annoyance. Once she came back up, she looked bewildered by her own decision, but hey, she was fully awake now.
“Sorry. I’m not usually this bad with mornings. I haven’t been able to sleep much back home, got to be up and vigilant- some real turbo-jerks roaming around with their creepy-ahh... evolutionary freak-tech, you know how it is,” she stood back up with a sniff, ready to continue, as if that sentence wasn't basically in another language to half the group. “I’d trade Simon’s soul right now for one of Rosie’s coffees… her secret is that she puts so much milk and sugar in it that my immature palette can’t taste the bitterness. She really gets me,” she pretended to wipe a tear from her eye. “Oh, that’s to say- a bit homesick. Otherwise, I’m ready to mash some megaweirdos!”

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Day 2 Noon, Semperviren Forest—

Quiet best described the Jedi General for the rest of the night before, that morning, and now going deeper into the day. Every second here was a second wasted, what could have happened back home at this point? Was the Chancellor even arrested? Or had he resisted... and if so, had Master Windu killed him? Or had he been slain instead...

What state was the galaxy he now found so far away. The war had been so close to an end... the sith lord had been revealed... Padme was due any day to give birth...

Why? Of all times, this had to happen now? He had to be violently pulled from his life and the politics of his world he was so deeply ingrained into?

Anakin hadn’t slept much that night. He’d attempted meditation, but voices of unfamiliar events from familiar people disturbed him again. The force was so confusing here... it responded to him in all the ways he knew to expect, but it didn’t... communicate with him. It was almost as though it were speaking a different language. There was no understanding.

As they crested a hill, the valley opened up before them, their path ahead laid bare to see. As Fjorm called for a break, Anakin simply continued forward as though he hadn’t heard, trudging silently forward, his gaze fixed ahead, brows knit tightly together, giving him a rather serious expression.

He couldn’t stop. He couldn’t slow down. He had to find a way back home, and so far, he hadn’t met anyone that could help him there. He had to find someone, or a starship to get off this planet, anything would work. Maybe he could even try to find his way into the World Between Worlds somehow... however that would work.

Bennett

As the night winded down, Shay approached Bennett, the unlucky adventurer turning his head as the elder human struck up conversation with him.

"Bennett, you seem to have some experience with the... supernatural. Have you encountered anything like this before?" Shay gestured to the doors, vaguely referring to the concept of a multiverse.

Bennett looked past Shay's shoulders, connecting the dots that Shay had laid out.

"Ohh, sort of! We find lots of crazy things out there in domains. Doors that lead to traps, doors that go into other spacial planes, and other freaky stuff like that! For some reason, dungeon makers really like their fancy doors..."

"Other... spacial planes...Is that how you got here?"

Bennett crossed his arms, closing his eyes. All he remembered was that a metachurl was chasing him off a cliff and suddenly he was here. He wasn't in a dungeon...unless he triggered some sort of mechanism he was unaware of?

"Hmmm I don't think so. Could have just been a case of my bad luck acting up again. Why do you ask? Do...you not know how you got here either...?"

"Now that I think about it... no. It was so strange, I was knocked off of my ship, and then instead of falling into the ocean, I fell into... where we were before." Shay remarked. "I woke up on some kind of icy sheet, and I thought I had been sent to hell for everything I'd done. But, no, I was still alive. I... perhaps I was simply given a second chance?"

Thinking about the topic further, Shay continued. "That reminds me. Do all these... planes, have their own heaven and hell? Were they a thing where you came from, or- well, you aren't dead, so you can't know... but, still. Were they common concepts?"

"So we were both knocked off something? Huh. There wouldn't be any connection between falling and getting here, right?"

Probably a long shot, but the closest parallel so far. But upon being asked about the Heaven or Hell question, Bennett seemed perplexed, not having heard those terms before.

"Heaven and...what? I know the heavenly principles are term I heard before, but I don't know of a 'heaven'. I know there are dark places like the abyss, which I still don't know that much about, and Fischl back home talks about her home in Immernachtreich, which is in between worlds. Are you searching for something that has to do with death...?"

"I... yes, I refer to death. In my world, when one dies, they are judged by the Father and sent to an afterlife based on the morality of their actions. Heaven is where you go if you were a good man, and hell if you were an evil one. Or... so I thought. Everything I knew has been oveturned so quickly that I'm not sure about the existence of them, anymore. It just doesn't sit right. If all these realms, where you and everyone else came from and where we are now, why were we not told? And, clearly Heaven and Hell aren't known of in your realms, so is the Father not...
...
What... what do your people believe happened when one dies?"

Shay seemed to be stressed about this revelation. An afterlife was very important to him, huh? He actually hadn't given it much thought himself. He hadn't exactly known anyone that died, so it's not like he could get any firm answers.

"Well, I know the Natlanese go to the night kingdom when they die, where their names and deeds pass on to the next generation. And I have a friend who's an exorcist, so I know ghosts and people who don't pass on exist. But...to be honest I don't know where most people go where they die. I wonder if the Archons have something to do with it..."

Natlanese... exorcists... Archons...

This perplexed Shay. "Hmmm.. It would make sense if each realm had it's own afterlife. And, by extension, it's own god. Or... gods? Thank you for this. I have much to think about. I needed to put it into words."

"Yeah, if you ever want to talk, just hit me up! You know I've got nowhere else to be, haha."

With those words of thanks, Shay left Bennett to his own devices. The two off to spend the rest of their night catching as many Z's as they were able.

.
..
...
....
.....

Soon enough, the travel had begun anew. Some more tired than others from the previous night while some were energized and determined. Nikki was the former. Seeing this, Bennett thought for a second, coming up with an idea.

"If you are tired, maybe you just need a good pick me up! I don't know what a coffee is, but I can make a mean egg! Or if you have anything on you, I cave give it a go making something for you!"

Anakin was not keen on wasting any time though, pressing on regardless. He seemed bent on carrying on. Was it a force of will? Maybe it was something he desperately needed to return to fueling him.

Akira Tadokoro

"I'm cold, and annoyed, but nothing's new with me." Akira told Fjorm as the Princess looked to her party, the teen psychic keeping his hands to his jacket pockets.

During the night, Akira had been... quiet. The odd kind, the sort where someone clearly has things to say and ask but chooses to remain in silence.
In truth, he had spent some of that time pondering the situation in the 'Nexus Event', back home, and what was up with some of his allies in this conflict.

"I'm not sure whether or not I'm annoyed at being dragged into this kinda mess again. I mean, at least this time, there's actual human life around outside of my allies, even if they're enemies. Didn't have that last time. But it'd be dumb to pretend I wasn't worried for Kaori... What if her illness flares back up again while I'm here? Is time even flowing the same? What if I get back and it's been weeks, and she's seriously sick?"
"...No, you're doing what you can. Vega said to Anakin that finding a specific universe is a hairpin in the ocean, and I can't abandon this mess, can I? I'm here, I got the power, so it's at least partly my responsibility to beat the crap out of Surtr."

"Guess this is a good time to think on my allies...
The Princess, Fjorm - She's nice, I guess. Kinda reminds me of myself, in her situation. Really sucks to lose a lot of the stuff around you, but she's holding on at least. Hopefully we can find her family in time, I'll force the fairy tale ending where they all survive if I have to.
Nikki - I can't lie, she's a little grating. Not the worst, though. Those monsters she's got are kinda weird, but nothing too new besides her being able to command them.
Bennett - Eternally bad luck, that's fucked up. Way too enthusiastic about this whole adventuring team thing, too... But I can't hate the guy.
Anakin - Something's going on with Skywalker. I don't know what, though. He psychic too or something? It's like I can't really get past the surface of his mind. Probably need to talk to him.
Shovel Knight - Chill guy, way better than the last Knight I met... Not like that's saying much.
Crow (?) - I mean, I guess he's not really with us anymore cuz of his own mess, but I still gotta make sure I find out about this thing he gave me earlier.
Shay - That guy... gives me weird vibes. Hard to tell. I need to take the time to read his mind sometime. Least he's not an enemy..."

Those had been just some of the thoughts running through his mind the previous night, and even now some came back to him, causing him to blank out part of the conversation, but he managed to listen in just enough after coming back to the present.

"If we're talking food making, could probably make some more Taiyaki in around an hour, if we got the ingredients." Akira noted, before pausing. "Uh, that's a kind of street food back home, they're fish shaped cakes with red bean paste in 'em, I got the mold for it somewhere in my pockets."

Then, of course, Akira noticed Anakin continuing to trudge forward.
"Hey dumbass, we're taking a break, that includes you." The teen scolded the Jedi without a lick of hesitation, stepping forward and taking a quick surface read of his mind, not like he could go deeper. If that guy really was psychic, maybe there was a chance Anakin was catching on, but that'd at least catch his attention...

“Ohhh… some food sounds great right now, yeah!” Nikki lit up. “I could do with some breakfast- I don’t know if I’ve got a taiyaki kit on me, but let me see what I’ve got, I have to have SOMETHING in here… hmhmhm…”

Nikki began to dig through her bag, with Skyr joining in to assist the search after a few seconds. The bag was disorganized to begin with, but each passing moment, it became more and more so- and it seemed like Nikki was fated not to find so much as a morsel, until…

“Oh!! I totally forgot I had these!” she exclaimed, pulling out a few colorful and small plastic-bag-looking things, each one a bright yellow and containing a dry brick of instant noodles. She held them up, and her fellow Mashers could see that they were labeled as ‘RAI-MEN,’ some kind of thematic snack from her world.
whitebgramen.png

“I got these when I toured the set of ‘Raihorn Man 4: Rectitude.’ Bet they’d go great with some taiyaki!” she smiled, hoping someone else would be able to produce the ingredients for said fish cakes. It was then that she noticed Anakin, trudging along ahead of them- seemingly zoned out. Maybe he was still sleepy, too. “Hey hey, Anakin! Stop for some breakfast! You won’t get far on empty in these conditions, you know!”

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

—Semperviren Forest, Day 2 Noon—

“Hey dumbass, we’re taking a break, that includes you.”

Anakin’s trudging slowed gradually to a stop as he continued to face the valley. He could feel something scratching at the back of his mind... but it didn’t feel anything like the force. More like...

<If you wish to keep your head... stay out of mine>

Somehow, he could tell it was Akira. It almost felt like a jedi mind trick, yet different. He knew where it was coming from. Anakin’s hand reached for his lightsaber hilt. He was eager for something, anything, to take his fury out on.

“Hey hey, Anakin! Stop for some breakfast! You won’t get far on empty in these conditions, you know!”

...

Anakin moved his hand away from the saber, feeling the itchy fabric of the scarf Nikki had given him around his neck. He was reminded of Ahsoka again, and he closed his eyes for a moment. He took a short breath, then turned and gave a forced, though apologetic smile. “Sorry... I was in my head for a moment there.”

His eyes found Akira’s. Without word or thought, Anakin’s eyes alone gave the same threat he had before - then he looked back toward Nikki and walked his way toward her, looking at the food she was offering. “If it’s alright, I’ll only take a small helping. Jedi are taught to survive without sustenance for weeks, existing on the force... so I don’t want to uh, take food from anyone who could use it more than me.”

"Great thinking! That would go great with the Taiyaki!"

A good ol' fashion hodgepodge was forming. While all of his cooking supplies, tents, and foods were completely burned up before he got here, he might be able to scourge for something that could help making it.

"I've never tried to make Taiyaki before, but I see vendors in Liyue make really good ones! I don't think I have any fish but..."

Scrounging around in his pockets, he looked about for ingredients. Passing a red warm rock, some purple parchment, and some bandaids, he snagged a couple pouches out. One appeared to be filled with a blue squishy fluid while another was filled with a denser, jelly like substance.

"Slime condensate and slime concentrate! They should work for the paste stuff, right?"
