Citizen's Voice

Okay, I got the idea for this series out of nowhere. Literally. This first post is a prolouge of sorts, with no actualy story. Shortly after, the stories shall begin. Notice it was plural. This doesn't focus on one group of character. Each chapter will tell a complete different story. Comments greatly appreaciated, and the first story will be up by the Monday. Enjoy the prolouge, and get hyped up for me will ya?

Everyone knows, that with power, comes corruption. And with that, comes a corrupt society. This holds true in the Pokemon World. War has torn two allies apart. Economies crumble. Nothing good can come out of it.

In each region, there are districts. Each region is held under the power of one leader, be it president or dictator. And, each district has a governor.

Each region for itself seems to be the case. Kanto and Johto are at a moment of peace, after a war that last thirty years. It began, one day, when Kanto believed they should join together as one, becoming the largest region. Johto refused. War shortly followed.

Hoenn seems to be the region that is best off in these times. They are a socialist nation, and their economy is the strongest, and there is no reason to believe they'd be at war anytime soon. Tourism is up, it being the warmest of regions. It's five districts are the Sea District, the Rural District, the Desert District, the Suburban District, and the Commerce District. Due to the large amount of island and coastal cities, the Sea District is the largest.

Sinnoh is the pity region. Their economy, once the largest and strongest of all the regions, is falling. Falling at a rate of a couple hundred points a day. Much of the region has fallen beyond the poverty line, with little sign of letting up. Along with that, it has thirteen Districts, making it theoretically, the weakest nation. With so many separate rulers, it's hard to tell who is truly in charge. The president was democratically selected in the capitalist nation, but that doesn't stop the governors going mad. It seems every month; a governor is assassinated in one of the districts.
People fight on the street, as the homeless stand in soup lines.
Three districts seem to be relatively okay. Acuity District, consisting of only Snowpoint city is among them. The other two are the Mountain and Verity Districts. Verity has always been a quiet district, having absolutely no unofficial governor changes. The Mountain district consists of Mt. Coronet, and Celestic town.

Kanto is under the rule of a "Self-Decreed President" who refuses the term dictator. Its main economic purpose is war, and the city of Vermillion holds the world's largest military academy. The Cinnabar island gym and all the residents were moved to the Seafoam islands. Cinnabar is now used a Military testing area.

Johto should be pitied as well, but for different reasons that Sinnoh. It's a democratic, socialist nation After the thirty-year war with Kanto, they were left devastated. The ports at Olivine city have yet to be opened after a vicious attack in the years before. The economy was also hit hard, though not as much as Sinnoh's. The bullet train and boat that travels to Kanto have been shut down, with the trains track being destroyed in the center point.

Each nation has a story to tell. Each nation, deserves a voice. They will be given one. Through the eyes of teachers, coal miners, presidents, families, trainers, and sailors.
Coordinators, street performers, governors, breeders, farmers. Everyone has a story. Everyone will be given a voice.

Mr. President

"Cory, if you wouldn't mind hooking yourself up to the national data network?" The mans voice had something about it that called for respect.

"Yes Sir." The voice coming from the computer screen was programmed to be soothing, and that it was. The man was sitting at his oaken desk, facing out to his city below. The office he was in was walled only with windows; an elevator had to be reached by a single flight of stairs. Through the transparent walls, all of Goldenrod City could be seen, the people rushing through the streets, cars, and motorcycles, completely ignoring his laws. In the distance, if it was a clear enough day, you could see as far out east as Kanto. The nation that had attempted to destroy his.

"Connected. Looking for anything specific Sir?" The pink and blue Pokemon reappeared on screen as it spoke.

"No, thank you Cory." The man dismissed, "You may browse the internet as you please."

President Makinshire, it read on the plaque. Plain, white letters, against the traditional wooden slate. He wore a plain blue tie, coordinating with the sky that day. He campaigned under the promise that he would end the war with Kanto, and that he did. He also promised to care about the citizens and Districts of Johto more then anything else, and he held true to this promise as well. His thinning grey hair was a contrast to the dark black jacket and pants he was wearing that particular day, and the flag of Johto proudly emblazoned in pin form on top.

"Cory, I need your help for a moment. Can you find me the exact number of soldiers we lost in the past 10 years? Citizen count as well please." He knew it would take a moment for the Virtual Pokemon to find all the data, and he took this time to stand up from his desk, and look at the city below. To the North of the capital city, was the National Park. A personal favorite place of his, visited by he and his family every day possible. He walked counterclockwise around the large office, and arrived at the center of the west wall. Straight ahead, was a tall and proud black building. It's antenna stood higher then anyone had though possible before, making in the telecommunication center of the world. The windows that circled the building on several floors were all tinted, so even with his perfect view, he had no idea what was going on in each studio.
A little further out, he could see nothing but beautiful ocean, the Sea District. As he looked closer into the port at Goldenrod, he saw sailors about to board a ship. They all were being strong for their wives showing them off. Out in the harbor, the shadows of schools of Magikarp could be seen.

"Found it Sir." The Porygon 2 chimed.
"Thank-you Cory, you may resume your business." The President began walking back to his desk, when the Pokemon spoke up again.
"I'd like to come out, if I may, Sir." It's voice chimed.
"Oh why, yes, of course." He stuttered a bit. He walked over to his desk, and leaning over, he pressed a button on a machine next to the computer screen. The first thing to solidify itself from data was the green Friend Ball in which it was held for travel. It made a humming noise for a brief moment, and glowed a faint white.

Picking it up, he hit the Friend Ball softly on the table, like an egg. It opened up, shooting out Cory, the Porygon 2.
"Hey boy, wanna play?" The President always made time for his Pokemon, the death counts weren't a matter that needed to be tended to right away. He picked up the Friend Ball again, and Cory, unable to speak outside of the computer, knew what this meant. It was it's favorite game, and Cory hovered to the floor, and began floating around in a jagged motion.

The President Smiled, and began shooting the Friend Ball's read laser beam at his Pokemon. Dodge ball was a bit risky to play in a room with only windows, so he shot lasers instead. He laughed, and Cory made a satisfied hum as the game continued on, for longer then anyone expected it. Happiness was found in subtle ways, and with the position the world was in, it meant a lot.

The Pokemon World, as told by Johto's President.

Yay^^

I really like fics such as this, and this one sounds really interesting. I can't wait to see what the other regions are like as told by the people.

Here's a bit of Sinnoh, and just how corrupt it has become.

Oreburgh

"Can you believe what's happening to the economy here? What happened to ‘share the wealth with other nations' hmmm?"
"Morons…." The other man grumbled as he picked up a pickaxe and fingered it in his hands.
"I betcha we could fix this crapload they got us into…"
"Calm down Morrison, problems like this always fade away…." The man with the pickaxe had set it back down, and stood up, revealing his large built body.
"As if you really believe that Tom? How's your family surviving through this crap?"
"They aren't…..I've sent ‘em to the Acuity District, up North." Tom, as he was known, was no doubt upset.

It was an early spring morning when the announcement from Sinnoh's already corrupt government came out. There was no need to ever think the economy would be bad. With the coal and ore mining in the Industrial District, and the technological advancements coming out of the Commerce, there was no real reason to worry.

"Breaks over! Back to work!" No longer did the workers refer to the operator of the mine, Roark, as they boss. The referred to him as the Warden. With the economy collapse, he resorted to using brute force with his mob of Cranidos and Rampardos.
"Ghya!" It had become a familiar sound at the coal mine of Oreburgh. A worker refusing to go back to mining. It was a quick death, or so it seemed. Charged by a Rampardos, and flung up into the sky.

"Now then," Roark would always say, "Anyone else want that? It's free." By the time his heinous smirk fell off his face from his favorite threat, the now dead body had fallen, and been carried off by a couple of Cranidos.

"Oy Roark! We can't even breathe down there!" Morrison decided to cause the daily uproar.
"Liar! There are hundreds of air vents!" Roark's eyes were ablaze with fury, seemingly turning red.
"Please!" Morrison stood up, his orange workers uniform contrasting the grey winter sky, "The air vents were clogged! And deep enough in, the vents don't even reach!"
"Morrison, I know for a fact you don't go in that far. Your job requires you to go 300 meters down.
"Yea, but I end up under the ocean!" Another worker stood up. With him, an Armaldo.
"Well that's just too bad for you isn't it?" Roark rebutted, his Rampardos coming to his side.

It had grown into a full blown shout match. All the workers were raising up against "The Warden" demanding fair treatment.
"You know…." Roark said, smirking, and holding a Dusk Ball in his gloved hand. "All those workers down there, they don't have to come back up. Something could….happen to fill up the mines with something…..unfortunate." His grin grew larger, as did the Dusk Ball in his hands.
"You wouldn't!" A worker called out, stepping forward with a rather large Machoke at his side.
"No way!" Another worked stepped forward.
"It's a pity to have it go down like this, Magcargo, go over to that air vent, and use Lava Plume." Roark spoke calmly, as he threw his Dusk Ball to the nearest air vent. It spun through the air, emitting a dark aura around it as it went. As it burst open, the slug within was revealed. With a glare in it's eyes, the slug released surge after surge of magma from it's shell, pouring down into the air vent.

Agonizing screams could be heard, echoing up to the front of the mine where the riot was forming.
"Do you want that to be you?!" Roark yelled, throwing out an Ultra Ball. "Heat Wave Aerodactyl!" With a corrupt grin, he laughed as the Fossil Pokemon ripped out of it's sphere, wings flapping at an alarming rate. As the giant behemoth's wings flapped, the air around the riot began to warm up, and soon a visible heat was seen blowing into the mine below.
"Now then! Back to work!" Roark laughed as he called his next demand. "Go on now! You're wasting time and money! You don't get today's work done today, you stay all night!"

A thick black smoke began pouring out of the mine, as the coal within began burning. The smoke blocked a vast amount of the mine from sight, and many began coughing. Aerodactyl began using Defog, whipping his wings to clear out the smoke from the entrance. Coughs, screams and even pleas could be heard echoing up through the labyrinth of Oreburgh Mine.

The grey sky above was still full of a thick black smoke, as more rose out of the air vents. As the workers blinked and coughed to regain sight and respiratory function, one noticed the Aerodactyl. "It's glowing blue!" He shouted.

Other workers looked up. It was a signal that everyone knew what it meant. Looking around, they saw that the Rampardos and Cranidos were also glowing in the same blue color. Roark, who once stood tall and proud on a boulder, now lay dead in a crumpled heap.
Cheering echoed through the canyon and quarry that was the mine's entrance, as each worker slowly realized what had happened. The smoke from the mine was too much rapidly filling up his lungs. He suffocated, and was poisoned.

As the workers continued cheering, one stepped forward, Tom. He looked back at his comrades, at the mine, then at Roark's body. He slowly walked up to the ex-warden's body, and slung it over his shoulder. With a look of pride to his fellow workers, he threw the body, hurtling into the mine. Many rushed forward to watch as the crumpled heap tumbled down the stairs, and eventually onto the dirt, then stone. Behind each tumble, a bloodstain was left, and eventually, he could be seen no more.

The Pokemon World, as told by a couple of miners.
