Once Cade and Lucas finally arrived at the island, they both fell onto the beach, exhausted from swimming all the way to the beach.
Cade was hoping to make peace again with Lucas but Lucas had other plans. The 2 boys stood up after a few minutes and somewhat cleaned their now sandy clothes.

'Okay, Can we call a truce for now? We're both pretty tired and I honestly don't feel like fighting right now...' Cade asked Lucas.

'That's why its the perfect time to attack you, I even have enhanced strength,' Lucas told Cade.

Suddenly, Lucas spat out some sort of acid and began to run at Cade.

'Shit,' Cade thought to himself. Lucas was too close and running too fast to begin to run away so he stood still, preparing for the attack.

Lucas Opened his mouth getting ready to attack, exposing his toxic saliva producing in his mouth and his surprisingly sharp teeth. Cade stood where he was. Lucas was forgetting that Cade also had a strength enhancement. His eyes were pulsing a bright red, revealing his anger in Lucas and the exams.

Lucas jumped onto Cade. Cade however grabbed him and threw him onto the ground and proceeded to run into the jungle, hoping to lose Lucas. Lucas got back onto his feet and begun to chase Cade. Both boys were still quite fatigued and needed to rest but Cade and Lucas persisted. fortunately for Cade, he successfully managed to lose Lucas but immediately after, his strength enhancement ran out. Cade stopped and stood on a tree, His heart was racing and his adrenaline was fading. Cade wanted to rest but he also wanted to go further away from everyone and hide. He took one step to go out but fainted from tiredness.

~~

Lucas was unable to find Cade, His strength enhancement however was still active so he was not as tired as Cade. Lucas began to search for a foe to battle while his enhancement was still active.

Benjy shot around the bolas, moving quickly and working to not allow himself to get struck by one. While this form gave him a whole of speed, he was still somewhat more vulnerable. His wings, for example, could get easily punctured and it would hurt like hell. When he would transfer into his human form with an injury to match the new one. After dodging the first wave of bolas, he thought he was in the clear until the Ash girl sent a pulse his way. With a flash of teal light, the alien form faded away and there was the blonde boy in the air. "Oh no!" He exclaimed as he crashed into the trees.

The boy struggled to get up and backed up, from a pile of leaves he had crashed into. He was a bit bruised and quickly looked at his watch. The machine was glowing red. Desperately, he tried switching to an alien. But nothing happened. "Shit," he muttered, keeping his eyes ahead to see of the two would follow him. He wasn't far from them, and if his watch didn't work, he would be screwed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a lot of shadows naturally, so it was easy for Ray to move around among the darkness. As the mineral slammed into the tree, Ray himself could move away into a different shadow. Ray watched the girl who had attacked him. She obviously knew someone was there but didn't know who it was or his power set. Ray followed her into the tree, sneaking along the shadows of the branches. White bandages shot out from the repositioned blackness, that was now behind Serenity.

Ray's torso appeared from out of the shadow, and he had an evil smirk on his face. "Got you," he said coldly, as he attempted to have them wrap around her.

Indeed, Rebecca had reacted as Diego likely expected. As soon as she heard the loud crack of Diego breaking the base of the tree, she saw it descent towards her as she jumped back to avoid being crushed before she then saw Diego charge for her.

But that is when she struck back, as the fireball she had made in preparation earlier was revealed as she tossed it at Diego and aimed to spring the pyro trap on him and launch a counter blow of her own.

Sky shook his head, disappointed. Melusine had done excellently up until now, managing to break through his little bubble and escape into the water. However, the full-on attack she had attempted simply wouldn't work. The earth had no more effect on the wind as it would under normal circumstances, it was only him that could feel the effects of the stuff. As for the water itself, it could be held back with ease compared to the weight of the water itself.

Whilst a part of him kept track of the speeding reptile, the other took a second to consider, "I wonder if slimes can swim?" Sky made a short hop over the grab made in his direction, then took advantage of the minor unbalance to send a blast of wind behind Liam and send him into the water with his companion. "Look, it was a decent plan. But you should know better than to attempt a brute force atta-." A ball of water suddenly pierced the wall and collided with him, knocking him to the ground.

If one were to look at the ground at this point they would see a ball of water seemingly intertwined with nothingness, writhing on the muddy floor. Sky's focus shifted and the wind wall collapsed, submerging the ball. Once underwater the opposite appeared to be revealed; a bubble interlocked with nothing. The water was blasted away once again and Sky rose up, moving in a heartbeat to the water spirit left in the mud. A gust of wind quickly scooped it up and carried it around a meter from the surface of the river to avoid its escape, and Sky's invisible form flew up to join it.

The air sharpened around the struggling water spirit as Sky spoke. "Well, I'm sure that all went a lot better in your mind, no? I would apologize for what's going to happen to you, but, well. I really don't see the need."

~~~~~Andrew & Lily~~~~~~
"Andrew, please...." Lily urged her fellow student as they needed to avoid making a scene, and while his anger had not left he momentarily held back as he let out a sigh and avoided saying anything more. Lily decided to speak for them.
"I think we can work out an arrangement here with him. Don't worry. Though given you did attack us first, while we are willing to talk, it would be wise here if you did anything that might set him off again." Lily advised to Riley as it appeared they were open to a talk though discouraged her use of her nightmare power....or at least at them.
~~~~~Ash~~~~~~
And catch up Ash would, as she moved by Kendra and where Benjy had crashed as it seemed her bad luck "charm" had stuck a cord and caused a crash landing. This was great! Though Ash kept the excitement to herself as she tried to display "cool composed" confidence as she faced him.

"I suggest you stay down, if you want to avoid any more punishment." Ash replied, as she tried to sound cool and hoped it didn't come off as over dramatic as she tried to get the shapeshifter to stand down. 2 on 1 in his position should be enough for him to back down and comply....she hoped.
~~~~~Serenity~~~~~
Slash!
"Don't be so sure of yourself!" Serenity called out, as before she could be wrapped up by the darkness she responded with an impulsive action. She drew a crystal from her sleeve and cut the branch she stood on as she free fell away from the shadows. She would roll in the air and used it as momentum to hit and roll on the ground to avoid a hard crash landing.
Soon, she turned up at the tree where Ray had revealed himself. A shadow user huh? That would be tricky, but she aimed to use this chance of his reveal to strike back as she fired several crystals at Ray.
Though she was far from done, as she slammed her palms on the ground. If the attack hit Ray, great, if not it would distract him as she produced a larger crystal underneath the root of the tree as she tried to cut into it and send the tree with Ray on it toppling over.
~~~~~Diego~~~~~~
Diego’s eyes widened, as it appeared Rebecca read or at least anticipated such an action as she was quick to toss a fireball his direction. Quickly he coated his other forearm in steel as held both steel-coated limbs in front of him in a guard as he aimed to tank the fireball.

Diego dug into the ground, and managed to hold his place as he managed to not only block but knock the fireball harmlessly into the air. Diego had a grin as he faced Rebecca.

“Gonna take more than a little spark to stop me.” Diego said a bit cockily as he charged at Rebecca and aimed to deliver what appeared to be a straight right hook with his steel-coated fist to her face. Though his left steel-coated hand had reared back subtly as if to deliver a surprise one-two punch either as a combo or if the initial strike failed.

Liam hit the water and was starting to get really tired. This has been his third battle so far, and he really hasn't gotten to rest since being thrown in the ocean. He was ready to call it quits right there... until the bubble collapsed. When the bubble collapsed around Sky, he had assumed it was Melusine. He didn't realize she was that powerful, but that meant she wasn't giving up so neither should he. He dived deeper into the water and went into the ground once more in order to absorb the mud. The only difference was that the headmaster would be much too preoccupied with the collapsed bubble to notice a small stream of slime coming up from the ground as soon as the bubble reformed. Not only that, but he would use his grab on the headmaster to completely surround him with slime. He would be exhausted after this attack, but he couldn't think of another option. He attacked seconds after the bubble reformed.

Wystria

The trip to the island had been, for the most part, eventless. What few students managed to bumble their way to failure right from the get-go had found themselves falling not into a sea of Salt and H2O, but instead an endless realm of shadows as Wystria whisked them away. Luckily, the number of immediate flunks had been minuscule, negligible even. Nevertheless, the maid maiden had diligently accompanied the students as they swam to the island -from the exquisite comfort of her shadow-woven raft.

She landed on the island right behind the last of the contestants, and from there on out she paid little to no attention to any students. Her duty to maintain their well-being ended with her breach of land. Now she was a 'boss' and just one of the many obstacles the students would need to overcome. Sauntering over to her little section of the island, she picked a nice little clearing and stood ready, her hands clasped in front of her apron.

Her power thrummed, the shadows of wooden giants writhing with her 'territory'. The area began to darken unnaturally; as if a thin veil had been cast over the sky. It was as much a display of power as it was a demarcation. By crossing into this shadowy section of the forest, one would signify their will to face the maid in combat, hoping to claim one of her silver bells.

Amystella

Several magnificent screens adorned the skies, reflected on each of them was one of the fights occurring on the island below. The screens had been arranged in a semicircle, revolving around their master and creator, the older of the Leticiar siblings, the light manipulator Amystella. As one of the faster among the teachers, she was an easy pick for situations that called for quick and immediate action. When the fact was combined with her ability to observe several different situations simultaneously, she'd all but secured herself as the overseer for the practical examinations.

While the students battled to their heart's content, she was the one responsible for ensuring they didn't rip each other's tiny little heads off over a single point. To go about this monumental task, she'd created a 'funnel', so to speak, the directed all the light transmitted from the island to her. Following its redirection, the light would then be re-scattered and organized into images of each student as they roamed the island. These images would then be projected on one of the many illusory screens that inhabited the skies. This provided Amystella with a 'Monitor' that allowed her real-time observation of everything on the island, but most importantly the conflicts on the island.

Fight screens were the teacher's focus, as they were the most likely to produce danger. Each screen upon which a fight took place was enlarged and then placed directly in front of her. As for the screens portraying less harmful activities, well, those were much smaller and had been set off to the side. So far, there was nothing that required her immediate intervention and hopefully, nothing ever would.

Melusine

'Odd...'

An off-handed feeling disturbed the demi-human girl's heart when, against her expectations, the air bubble collapsed under the relentless assault of the currents. She hadn't been expecting much from her little stirring of the waters -maybe a distraction here or there as the headmaster dealt with the ever-changing air pressure required to keep the water at bay, not nothing like what she'd just witnessed. As for what she'd just witnessed..? Well, Melusine wasn't quite sure. The headmaster seemed to struggle with a very animate glob of water -one that hadn't been subject to her control.

Perhaps 'struggle' wasn't the right word. Whatever scuffle had broken out between the Headmaster and his newly acquainted friend seemed to be settled in a matter of seconds. Regardless though, Melusine had seen a chance, and she didn't intend to miss it. As soon as Sky's bubble and humanoid form had collapsed, she'd flexed her control over her element of preference. The currents of the river wrapped around in circles, creating a whirlpool as the girl attempted to snatch the prize to end all prizes -the Golden Bell.

"Rio told me to refrain from killing anyone in front of the students, so count yourself lucky," Sky hissed in his native tongue, promptly releasing the water spirit. The spirit spun around in mid-air, taking a second to orientate itself before diving back into the newly formed whirlpool around it

Sky moved to push the whirlpool back, but a torrent of slime suddenly emerged from beneath him, wrapping around his body and stopping his movements, however momentary. The bell floated out of his hand, suspended in the slime, which Sky made no effort to recover before a reptilian hand swooped in and snatched a split-second later. They had managed to make a move that he had not expected, and he had to commend them for it.

Sky's form fell apart into a bubble that quickly sank through the slime and emerged into the open air, after which his body promptly reformed atop the surface of the water. "Good job. You worked well as a team and managed to use your head and take advantage of my distraction to set up something like that. As far as I'm concerned, you've earned this,"

Echo

Echo ducked as one of her opponents shot a wad of acid, the projectile shooting over her head and hitting a tree behind her. Her confidence slightly boosted through her dodging the first attack, it was also short-lived as a loud crack resonated through the forest and the intent of his shot was revealed.

Panicking, Echo attempted to slip away into the quickly growing shadow of the tree above her and succeeded to an extent. She slipped away and reappeared dead in front of the boy's companion, who was busy forming what looked like icicles on her hands. Though she was intending to get further away as opposed to closer, Echo quickly raised her hand and summoned a volley of inky black daggers, which were quickly hurled in the direction of the two

"K-kevin hang on!" Aura called out, her eyes having widened up when she saw the black daggers that came for the pair as Kevin was confused but did as she said and within that moment Aura slammed her hands to the ground and soon enough she generated ice and made an elevated platform below just the two of them that rose up which caused the daggers to stick harmlessly to the ice.

Naturally, the cold caused Kevin's body to shiver; his reptilian form handled cold very poorly so they needed to move quick. And with tree branches ahead of them he became inspired.

"G-g-g-get on my b-b-back...." Kevin said with a shiver as Aura, though confused, gave a nod and hopped on her friend's back. Quickly, Kevin extended his tongue to the tree as it wrapped around it before he swung off pillar and used the momentum to begin to retract and shoot his tongue to trees to try and swing them and gain distance on the pursuers. Much to the annoyance of a certain internal voice...

Why run you coward!? These pests are nothing! Just let me take over for a minute and...

Shut up! This is my exam, not yours. Now back off!

-----------
Rebecca's eyes widened a bit as the fireball was bounced off, the steel skinned kid was gonna be an issue as she saw a fist come right for her face. In an instant, she let out a stream to propel herself to the side to just avoid the strike and gained some distance.

Quickly she followed up as she extended her free palm and fired a stronger, fire stream at Diego; both to try and blast him back to further separate the two and test the resistance of his coated skin.

Celia

"Aha! Not so fast!!"

Although their plan was clever, and against any other team they might've escaped, but the combined forces of Echo and Celia held air-superiority! Following a whistled signal from the Hamadryad, the Steel Winged Swallows darted through the forest, their size and speed allowing them to overtake the fleeing duo. They didn't attack the duo but instead cut off their root of escape -literally. With their blade-like wings, they buzzed ahead, slicing through the branches ahead of Kevin and Aura.

Melusine

It...worked? To be frank, Melusine had merely been stirring trouble and hadn't expected the Headmaster to actually drop the bell. It was...rather shocking to say the least. Her own amber pupils matched the bell's golden sheen and after several moment's silence, she squealed. Tossing arms around the slime-boy, she began making several pirouettes through the water. The river itself seemed to join her in celebration, small waves rising across its surface.

Suddenly, she stopped, fixing her gaze on the air-spirit, she gave a throaty harrumph. "Next time, I'll take it on my own!" A mouthy grin of fangs followed her declaration, and she slapped her palm against the water's surface, sending squirts of water towards the Headmaster.

Sky grinned at seeing the girl's celebration. It was nothing short of adorable, and completely made up for any lost pride over losing the bell. She'd fought hard and rightfully earned her prize "Yeah, yeah, I'm sure you will. Perhaps another time," he answered with a laugh. flicking his own hand and sending furrows of wind through the water towards her. "Unless you want a rematch now, that is. I've not exactly got anything better to do."

Noticing the Dryad's plan, Echo attempted to help as much as she could with her borrowed magic. Sinking back into the shadows and reappearing in front of them, she swept her arm forward, bringing forth a blade as long as her arm to cleave through the trees around her. Hopefully, this combined with the birds would be enough to cut off their route of escape, or at least bottleneck it to a few places

It wasn't the most comfortable of beds compared to where he usually slept, but it did the trick for now, at least.
Erik stretched his legs out as he sat on a thin but quite sturdy branch, high up in a tall tree. The black, skull-toothed bandana he usually wore around his face was tied around his wrist. Leaning against the trunk, the teen breathed in the cool, crisp evening air as he stared out across the vast span of water that surrounded the island he and many others had been occupying for almost a full day. This practical exam was far different from previous exams he had taken in his normal school years. Erik had been fortunate to find a student he could easily pick off near the beginning of the exam, but after a sequence of unfortunate events, the kid had gotten away. As he recalled the memory, Erik cursed under his breath. Of course, there was not much need for concern as of right now; there was still about a week for him to find others to reach the bell quota, so until he found someone, he planned to wait it out, only surviving on the bare minimum. From what he could gather from a few hours of scouting, a number of fights had broken out, the locations scattered around the island, and for now, Erik found it wiser to avoid conflict until the real push near the end of the exam. The other students would be getting desperate then, leaving them easy pickings.

Prancing around without a care in the world through the vast treeline of the island where the exam was going on was none other than one of the school's staff member Darkhelm Connors, the gym teacher. Having just arrived on the island at the same time as the students, Darkhelm was casually strolling around waiting for some kind of an event go happen. That was until he noticed the sky darkening as all the shadow in the immediate area condensed into a single zone. A smile formed on the man's face. "I know this feeling anywhere. It's got to be her." Thinking to himself, Darkhelm began jumping through the treetops towards the direction of the source of this disturbance. After a little jog thought the trees, Darkhelm arrived at a clearing and hopped down to the ground, offering the maid in front of him a friendly wave and a smile. "Yo shadow buddy. How are you doing?"

With their branch exit cut off Kevin and Aura landed on the ground as Kevin internally cursed while both scanned the two aerial assailants. At this point, it appeared impossible to avoid a direct battle much to the internal desire of that other presence though he kept that bottled up inside.

But, the pair still had a trick left in their sleeve...a combination of both their escape ideas.

Quickly Aura used her ice to produce a small sled, one for two as Kevin shot his tongue at the base of a tree ahead of them to stick firmly to it. Given the face last time they tried to sled out they had been cut off by shadow daggers Aura lacked the time needed to make something to propel the sled, so in this case Kevin's tongue acted as that as he would pull them along the path using the motion of Kevin's tongue retraction towards the tree for momentum smooth sled for traction as they pulled along and shot forward; trying to race away from the pair one more time.

Stop teasing me you worthless sacks of skin! Just fight!!!!

------------
As Serenity fell down from the branch and fired crystal shards at Ray he merely had a smirk on his face as he descended back to his own shadow as he swirled down and around the tree as the crystals shot at the bark just missed it.

Though to her credit, this girl seemed to have expected that as she produced large crystals under the tree with the aim to knock it down. A good effort, as the shadow veil stopped just above the base of the tree as it toppled over and crashed with a thud. Moments later, Ray's body rose from the mowed down bark with a smirk on his face.

"Oh this might be fun after all..." Ray said, his tone a mixture of bold confidence and a sinister chill as he almost dared Serenity to make a move.

------------
Benjy rubbed the back of his head as he had landed with a thud, before he glanced up and noted that both Kendra and Ash had stared him down. Naturally a 2 on 1 situation had been far from ideal in spite of previous bold bravado.

But, given he had made a splash he still had to show coincidence. As he faced Kendra and Ash.

"Now then look, I can see we got off on the wrong foot. I think you two would find that a fight won't be favorable, however perhaps we can better use our abilities collectively. Scratch my back I scratch yours if you know what I am saying."

-----------
"That moron better not have gotten himself in trouble." June mumbled to herself, as she continued to patch up camp in the cave behind a waterfall while Ryker had gone off to "scout." The idea was they'd swap turns with it and bring back knowledge of what other students were doing while avoiding a direct engagement. Internally June sighed as she realized the fallacy of this place.

She sent Ryker out first. And his tendency to leap into action before he thinks would likely be too strong to stick to the plan.

Either way, she finished up camp and decided if Ryker had not returned or shown a trace of returning within the hour she'd go search for him. Hopefully he'd be okay, one thing she could count on was his tendency to somehow get out of shaky situations in one piece.

As Ramon was still spying on Suzy and her group, he quickly heard a shout from behind him. When he looked up, he noticed a student rush at him, but Ramon kept his composure and quickly dodged the blunt force of the attack.

Ramon would then tidy himself up, and tug at the end of his gloves. “A perv? Surely you could’ve came up with something much better than that,” Ramon said in his Spanish accent as he glared at the newcomer.

Though, before he could initiate his own attack, another student charged Ramon once more and aimed to attack him. Ramon was clearly annoyed, and created a wall made from his golden flames, aiming to stop the Kitsune’s attack.

These two seem to have something against me? Doesn’t make any sense, as I am perfect in every each way. But, I’m not afraid to show these two their places.

“So you two want to fight me?” Ramon asked when he would suddenly start to chuckle. “If you think that you have numbers in your advantage, then you’re sadly mistaken.”

The harem that had rode with Ramon to the island would then pop out of nowhere and surround Ryker and Tatsuya. A total of five girls and Ramon himself faced the two students who dared oppose him.

——————————————

Suzy decided to speak up as well, and said, “Lily’s right, Andrew. I don’t think she had any intention of trying to hurt you the way she did. Riley is just trying to pass the exam like the rest of us, and she is just doing it the way she knows how.” Though, when Suzy spoke her lips did not move and it seemed to be as if though she were in their heads.

Suzy would then stare at Riley, and waited for her response for Lily’s request.

Had he been okay with making his presence known to the people below him, Erik would have burst out in laughter. Silently spectating the scene that was about to unfold on the ground, he managed a half-grin of amusement as what looked like a harem of about five girls charged the vicinity and circled the two other students. It seemed that the guy with the golden flames was the leader of the harem, though Erik didn't know his name. In an attempt to make sure he remained unseen, Erik stood up on his branch, balancing quite easily before running up the tree and sitting on a branch that was much higher up. Bad move; from his abrupt movement in leaping onto his new branch, the branch he had been previously occupying snapped from the force of his jump, plummeting down to the ground. It landed near the base of the tree with a soft thud, and Erik cursed under his breath, hoping it wouldn't lead to anyone noticing. Just for good measure, the teen tied his skull-tooth bandana around his mouth and nose, ready to retreat into another tree if need be.

Wystria

Discipline was a Maid's lifeblood. Wyst hadn't even twitched, even with Darkhelm's appearance, she stayed stock-still, her hands crossed at her front. That wasn't to say she didn't react to the man's appearance, for her eyes immediately locked onto his figure. She wasn't the most ardent fan of the 'Shadow Buddies' terminology, but it was a tolerable term. "Haven't seen you around much, working as an examiner?"

"Ah...it's about time." Noticing that the sun had begun a steady dip below the horizon, the Maid extender her shadow. The shapeless darkness extending until it was a bubbling cesspool. Hateful howls and snarls erupted, and malevolent figures jumped from her shadow, quickly scattering across the island.

These were Hellhounds, the same creatures that had attacked the Academy a few weeks back. Wyst had captured quite a number of the dogs, and after a bit of starvation, they were weak and frail enough to not be significant threats to the students. They were, however, for more ferocious than any of the students would remember, also a facet of their starvation. There were merely a few of the 'Roaming Monsters' that had been promised, as attached to their ears were the lowest ranking bells.

The Hellhounds would harass the students throughout the night...so it would be in their best interest to choose their campgrounds very carefully.

Darkhelm looked at the maid in front of him keeping her ever stoic posture. "Huh, as serious as ever I see." He said with a smile. Hearing Wystria's comment, the man chuckled a bit. "Well, yeah. I just got here actually." He said while scratching the back of his head. Looking to the darkening sky at the same time as Wysteria, Darkhelm sighed. "Ah it's getting real dark, it should be around time the students are seeking to rest for the night." Noticing the shadows controlled by Wystria begin to bubble up, Darkhelm flinched a bit when he heard the hateful snarls and howls escaping the shadows when finally a group of hellhounds erupted from the shadow and scattered out on the island. Darkhelm had an awkward open smile one his face. "Wow, releasing some of the iron bell holding monsters out in the wild when most students would be getting ready to camp for the night, you truly are a mean one."

Celia

"Ouch...he's gonna feel that in the morning."

Flinching back, the Dryad watched in a mix of awe and sympathy as the lizard-boy used his tongue to pull the duo along. He was in for quite a few splinters...but more importantly, she couldn't run that fast. There was no way she'd be able to keep pace with that sled. 'Got any bright ideas?' Without no other options left, she turned to Echo.

Wystria

"It'll be a good experience, the Villains will be even crueler after all. Besides, camping in a secure position should be Survival 101."

More than the lethality of the hellhounds; what might truly plague the students were their memories of the attack. The recollection of flame, soot, and death. Fear and Trauma were their greatest opponents, but opponents existed to be overcome through one way or another. Power, Luck, Friendship, Intelligence, whatever was at their disposal, the students needed to learn to utilize it, shattering the barriers in their path in their own unique ways.

Though, even if they failed in this attempt, their teachers would be there to pull them from the jaws of peril. Tenderly watching over the vibrant little bamboo shoots...isn't that what it meant to be an adult? and more so, a teacher?

Kikiro looked at the wall of wind that surrounded Toby with a fake impressed look.

"Oh wow, don't you think that's a bit dangerous? Well, anyways it's not like you can fight me within that wall. Why don't you come out and have fun?" he asked.

He waved his tail in a teasing matter as if to inviting Toby to attack him. "You know, a defensive power isn't always that good. There's always a weakness, and even though in offensive powers there are some too, they can be reduced by practicing. But how often can you practice fighting with a defensive ability? Well, it doesn't matter. I think I've figured out the wall's weakness," he said cockily.

All of a sudden Kikiro decided to extend his wings and started flapping them with power behind them. Each flap causing a stronger gust of wind to go up against Toby's wall.

"C'mon, you can't hide behind that barrier for long."

When two similar wind fronts collide and neither is willing to back down, the only way to go is up. Toby knew this, and he was going to make the best of it. He made a lot of sand fly up to distract his attacker and moved to the side, his wind wall gone by now. He wanted to attack this person or whatever he was from the side, knowing that the flapping of his wings would hinder his movement. His wind would be less useful in this fight, so he had to resort to his wrist blades.

When the gust of sand started going higher Kikiro kept his eyes on Toby and noticed he was leaving the barrier between them. Due to his heightened senses, he was able to quickly react and changed the position of his wings to his side causing a large gust of wind to go against Toby himself.

He stopped his wings after that last gust since keeping it up wouldn't be a good idea in a close quarters fight so he let out a small fire breath to act as his own distraction. Kikiro jumped into the air over his opponent and landed behind Toby. He quickly turned to a side angle and spun around his rear foot in order to try and sweep Toby. He followed it up with an attempt at a downwards elbow strike.

Tatsuya
At the sight of the fire wall the kitsune skidded to a stop. He turned to face Ramon's "Goon Squad". "Yeah, you're a regular Mary Poppins." Tatsuya said, sarcasm in his voice. "And really, sending girls to fight for you." He shook his head. "So lame." He heard the sound of howls and snarls fill the air. "Perhaps, though, you have bigger problems than just us."

Kendra
The winged girl put a thoughtful hand to her chin, considering Benjy's offer. "What do you think Ash?" she asked. Not long after she had said this, howls and snarls could be heard. Kendra reached for her sword. Soon, they were going to have bigger problems.

Erik was snapped out of his focus when an ear-splitting howl pierced the air, soon followed by more howls like it. Having known that sound all too well from past experience, his eyes narrowed as he disregarded the ordeal below him and began to jump through the trees deeper into the forest, staying as far ahead of the Hellhounds as possible. Knowing the ferocity of the beasts, Erik thought it unwise to harness his aura too early into the night, which— due to the new predicament— would turn out to be a long one. Leaping from tree to tree, the teen bounded through the dense forest until suddenly one of the branches he jumped on snapped instantly, throwing Erik off balance as he stumbled and dropped to the ground. Bad timing; one Hellhound that had been part of a different pack heard the fall and noticed the teen before snarling and bounding toward him. Slowly getting up as he massaged his wrist, Erik saw the approaching mutt and got into a fighting stance. It looked a lot scrawnier than before; most likely an attempt at making the exam difficult without presenting too much danger to the students. The Hellhound lunged at Erik with a vicious bite, but the teen sidestepped and grabbed hold of its neck before hurling it back. Yeet. The mutt tumbled for a brief moment before getting back up on its feet and dashing at him again, this time charging at him in an attempt to headbutt him. Erik leaned back the slightest bit before stepping forward, delivering a hard straight lunge to the Hellhound's nose. The Hellhound staggered back with a whimper before collapsing to the ground, unconscious. Erik walked over to the mutt and plucked the iron bell from its ear before heading off, leaping once again through the trees after pocketing the spoils.

Unluckily for Eric, Ramon had heard his less than graceful fall, and looked at one of the five girls. As if she could tell what he was wanting to tell her just by gazing at her eyes, the girl nodded and left the group, leaving the other girls to spread out and have them a member down.

The girl who was sent to attack Eric wasn’t just any casual student, however, she had mid-tier psychic abilities. One of those abilities allowed for her to detect the presence of any life form. The girl using her ability, had her eyes locked on Eric and was on the chase.

Ramon just snickered at the Kitsune’s remark. “Tsk tsk tsk. Someone like you would say something like that,” Ramon retorted, “But it’s not like I’m ordering these girls just because they’re at my beck and call. I had hand-picked each of these fine ladies to help me for this very exam. Together all of us make the perfect team.” The girls smirked and all of them assumed fighting position. “These girls have the same goal as everybody else,” Ramon continued, “To pass this exam, and I’m here to help them do exactly that.”

Ramon then also heard the sounds of the feral beasts that Wysteria had sent to test the students, though Ramon did not know that. Ramon sighed, and said, “What a nuisance. But, no matter, they are not my problem.” With a snap of his fingers, Ramon surrounded everyone around him in a wall of black flames. “These black flames are the most potent flames I have in my arsenal. The second any savage life form touches it, they will instantly evaporate into dust,” Ramon explained.

Ramon then took his fighting stance, and glared at the two who dared oppose him. “So then, shall we begin?” Ramon asked condescendingly.

Meanwhile, inside of Suzy’s dimension, no one in it would be able to detect or hear the Hellhounds as they are essentially in another dimension, though Suzy doesn’t have much time left as she can’t keep the dimension up for much longer, so they would have to make a decision quickly.

Drat, I had to face a dragon didn't I? Toby couldn't fly long enough to escape the attacks and his eyes were a bit teary from the gust that hit him, but he refused to give up. He let himself drop to the ground and rolled away from the fire heading his way, feeling the heat behind him. The back of his head felt singed, but the fire didn't hurt him. He placed his hands on the ground and blasted himself from the ground, although the downward elbow strike did manage to hit his mask which made his escape a lot less graceful than he wanted. "You want to play this the hard way huh? Fine then, let's go you lizard." He fired several wind sickles at Kikiro, some swirling to his back before attempting to strike and some attempting to hit him head on. Somewhere in the darkness, there were hellhounds loose but Toby didn't know that. He only had eyes for the opponent that wanted his bell.

Man, things are really heating up.

With his mental pun that June would no doubt had slapped him over, Ryker watched as Roman not only assemble a legion of fangirl followers but between him and Kitsune fire had generated all around them.

To make matters worse, the sounds of hellish beasts filled the air. Naturally, he worried about his sister and his friends but he could not just escape it seemed as he struck a fighting stance with his ally at the moment.

"Kinda annoying for me, fighting fire with fists is usually not the smart thing. But's let's see how inventive I can be. Bring it you wanna be playboy!"

"Ms. McKnight are you insane!?"

"Oh don't be a worry it will be fine. The perfect obstacle to really test these students."

"The Maverick unit is something you reserved for career supervillains! How do you expect students to survive it!?"

"Relax. I tweak this baby to remove the lethal weapons....generally. It will push them but not kill them. Don't you trust me?"

"NO!"
Candice McKnight and Oliver had had their....disagreements, over the plan Candice had in mind with regards to her idea to "keep students on their toes." While the teachers were not supposed to directly seek students out, something Oliver felt a member of the facility or two may have broken already, but there had been no rule in creating a little stage hazard or two.

Which if those bloodthirsty cries of beasts had been any indication, had also not been lost on others. Much to Oliver's annoyance.

Candice's contribution to this was a monstrous giant robot, about 20 feet tall with an hulking figure & ape-like appearance; almost like a silver gorilla. With a red visor for eyes and what appeared to be a black "pack" on its back. Next to it stood dozens and dozens of little drones; small circular dics with little antennas that shinned a glowing blue light. These would be used to disperse across the island and set themselves, acting as triggers and when any student passed their area they'd sent a signal back to the Maverick to give it points in its targeting computer.

"Ms. McKnight I must implore you to reconsider, there must be something else you can use if you have to resort to these measures. Tell me what happens if your son encounters this thing?" Oliver asked Candice, as she paused moment and actually seemed to think it over....then she pressed a button and the drones shot out in all directions to cover different sections of the island.

"Can't show bias Oliver, mother or no mother I have to treat all students the same. Things will be okay and hey, I can monitor at any time so don't stress...Kevin is a lot tougher than you think." Candice said with a smile which only caused Oliver to let out a metaphorical sigh.

Andrew, gradually, began to lower his murderous aura much to the relief of Lily as it seemed Suzy's words along with her own got to him and his body relaxed. Andrew still shot a glare to Riley but made no other advance. Lily saw Suzy as she made this odd dimension and knew she likely had a short time to act as she did not want to test how long Suzy could hold it up for.

"Whatever you decide. You need to make it quick, cause I think we have trouble ahead of us." Lily advised Riley as she turned to Suzy & Andrew.

"We should prepare to go. Likely need to find camp once we get out of...this." Lily advised to Andrew & Suzy as it seemed she and to a lesser degree Andrew were ready to leave.

Ash had her reservations about such an offer, but with the sounds of snarls in the distance that caused hair to stand on the back of her neck she figured another ally rather than an enemy would likely be best in such a situation. Even if it had been for just a short truce.

"I-I say we take the offer. But be mindful of him in case he tries to sneak off with a bell." Ash said, with a whisper only for her to hear as she offered her view on the situation.

Serenity frowned a bit when Ray emerged from the shadows unharmed. It seemed he was quite sure of himself, given he made but that comment and almost dared her to act though before she could she heard the sound of something terrible in the distance....a sound that moved closer by the second.

"Much as I'd like to. Seems I'll have to put that on hold." Serenity said to Ray, before she produced a large crystal behind her as she slammed her palm to the ground and used it as a springboard to jump to a tree branch. From there she would begin work to gain distance away as she jumped from branch to branch, and fired some smaller projectile shards at Ray to try and discourage him from pursuit.

Diego watched as Rebecca fired a stream right for him, and naturally being Diego he had a grin as he coated both his arms in steel and held a guard before him rather than try the "sissy" method of dodging as the stream struck his arms. The steel covered his body from being burned, but the heat was more intense and the force of the impact actually began to push Diego back in spite of his metalic guard.

Then those cries were heard, which only made the struggle a bit harder as his eyebrows shot with his teeth grit.

"W-what the hell was that?" Diego asked to no one in particular as he was moved closer and closer to a tree behind him.

Victoria, seemingly sparked by whatever she sensed in the air from those howls and the sight of a little drone moving past her area as she felt the stuff was behind this. And if her fellow faculty were making things bit interesting for the students she had to step up herself. And with a few extra bells and her little bag of wonders she felt she had more than enough to do her part to put the students on their toes.

"Let's see let's see. No, no...maybe next year...ah ha! Marvelous~" Victoria said to herself, as within her bag she pulled out what appeared to be a trio of wind up nutcrackers with red uniforms and little swords in marching positions as she lined them up orderly. Slowly, she began to wind up each soldier as they key attached to each of their backs seemed to carry a violet moon symbol on the back of it. Once she finished, each symbol shinned once before the soldiers began to march.

Tap
Victoria gave a tap to the back of each nutcracker's head with her index finger before she took a few steps back as she closed her bag. Her power then kicked in, and the size & density of each nutcracker began to alter as they soon became a trio of twelve foot tall soldiers, and oddly the trio halted their automatic match as they turned to Victoria. The instructor of the younger grades handed each of the giant soldiers a bell and gave a smile to them.

"Alright, remember this is an exam. Don't go too hard on them, but make sure they earn it." Victoria explained as the giant nutcrackers nodded before they began to march through the island in search of opposition.

As he jumped through the trees, Erik turned and noticed an unfamiliar looking girl running after him; one of Ramon's lackeys, most likely. Deciding not to engage in battle too soon, Erik decided to wait it out and try to tire out the girl, continuing to jump through the trees. However, it was quite odd that she was able to pinpoint his location so easily, considering the fact that he had gone deeper into the forest to avoid such contact. The girl must have had some kind of psychic ability that allowed her to lock onto a particular life form. Nevertheless, Erik pressed on, bounding across the dense forest. No Hellhounds were in sight either, which was good for now.

Ramon stared at the students who dared attack him and that were ready to attack, and he gave his posee a look which spurred them to initiate fighting stance as well.

The girls then split into pairs, each stood in every side around the Ryker and Tatsuya, and they would all shoot a beam of energy aiming straight at them.

—————————————

The girl that was following Eric wasn’t tiring so easily, however. She glowed in a strange green energy and her pase just continued to get faster. It seemed that Eric would have no other choice but to fight this girl, or at least that’s she presumed.

——————————————

Suzy couldn’t take it anymore, and the dimension she had set up collapsed in on itself. Suzy was panting, as the dimension apparently took to much out of her.

When she looked around, she noticed that it was already night. “Hey guys, I think we shou-“ Suzy said before she was wildly interrupted by the howls of ferocious beasts. As a spirit naturalist, she knew this howl all to well, Hellhounds.

“Nevermind what I was going to say, we need to get out of here, and now!” Suzy exclaimed as she started to run into a direction distant of where the howls came from. “Follow me! And quickly!” Suzy exclaimed as she was running.

Turning to look behind him, Erik was the slightest bit surprised to see the girl still following closely in pursuit, slowly but surely closing the gap between them, even. What concerned him the most, however, was the faint green glow surrounding her. Aura? Is she using it to enhance her stamina, or is that just a sign of her using psychic abilities? Nevertheless, Erik continued to run, still attempting to wage a war of stamina.

~~

About 15 to 20 more minutes of running passed, and looking back again, Erik saw that the girl was still holding up, that same green light emanating from her body. Damn, he thought as he ran, finally coming to a stop by leaping off the next tree branch onto which he had leapt. Landing on the trail the girl had been using to chase him, Erik sighed as he took off his black jacket and tossed it aside. "You know," He started as he untied the skull toothed bandana around his mouth and tied it around his wrist before glancing at the girl, eyes narrowed. "You're damn persistent. But," Erik continued, getting into an almost "casual" fighting stance. "If it's a fight you want, I'm now happy to acquiesce to your request." He wouldn't be harnessing his aura unless it was an absolute necessity, lest he run out of stamina too soon. Besides, he was rather confident his fighting skill would be quite enough to overcome this slight obstacle.

Liam was not sure how to react. He didn't expect to grab the bell from the headmaster and certainly not to be able to keep it. He was bewildered and shocked when Melusine came and grabbed him. He just couldn't help but smile when she danced with him. When he heard her say she would take it on her own next time, he had no doubt that she could, but not today. "I think she'll be fine without the rematch today." He for one was tired. He also had to rest so that he could worry about finding a way to get his own bells. He wanted to let Melusine have the golden one, which meant he still only had the one. "Come on Melusine, let's find a place to make camp for today. I'm kinda exhausted after that."

Verie hovered over the island, feeling uncertain and worried. Actually, hovered wasn't the correct word. She beat the air with her enourmous wings, creating an updraft that was entirely her own. Her hair blew in her face, and she scanned the woods.
Small people were scattered like ants among the scenery, flitting from view. There was a sudden flash from below, and Verie started. Her wings drew in, like they did when she was terrified, and she fell like a stone. She struggled to unfurl her wings as the air slammed into her face, and the ground drew nearer. At the last possible second, Verie, in an act of extreme terror, flung out her wings. Something pulled, and she cried out in agony. She landed safely, however, and she fell down, panting.
Her wing was sprained. She pulled it out and winced, drawing in startled breath. The bell thumped against her chest as she stood up. I'm grounded, she thought.
She didn't want to be grounded here.

Elie wasn't sure why she was here. Why did the PBI bring her here of all places? She was being led to the beach where the tests are taking place. She wasn't sure if had to take them or not. All of this was confusing to her. "Maybe if I act out the PBI would take me back." She was scared. The PBI never told her that she was going to a school for people with superpowers.
She looked at the sea "Will I have to go in there?" she asked.

Echo shrugged. "I've not exactly got any experience, so don't ask me. Although..." Watching the duo swing from the trees, an idea slowly formed in her head. It wasn't exactly orthodox, but it should work if she could pull it off. "How quickly can you get me in front of them? They're going too fast for me to catch with these shadow portals, but there might be something else I can try." The opposition was evidently a lot more experienced working together, but what Echo and Celia lacked in experience they made up for in unpredictability, especially in such a forest where Celia's abilities thrived.

However, this plan felt a bit too much like putting all her marbles in one basket. If she missed her opportunity, she'd be vastly underequipped compared to what she was now. Still, given how good they were at avoiding her prior moves, it seemed that the best way to get to them would be to throw them for a loop and make an intentionally bad move

Celia

The hama-dryad froze, her expression like petrified wood. How quickly could she get Echo in front of the duo? Well that dependent. First though— 'Uhh...and how do I do that? Throw you..?'

While it was very true that her abilities were boosting in the forest, her ability was [Resonance]. Her ability allowed her to increase the abilities of others. That being said the only targets of her ability would be her Swallows, Ning & Zen and— Echo herself. The swallows wouldn't be doing much to get Echo to where she wanted, but if Celia focused her efforts on Echo then it should increase the effectiveness of the Shadow-manipulation ability she'd copied on the cliffs. Should.

'Ahhh, well her goes nothing!'

Celia took root, her legs dug into the ground and her crown of leaves began to blossom. She spread her arms wide, and in but a few moments she looked like a tree. An oddly, human-shaped tree, but a tree nonetheless. She then sought to absorb as much nutrients, sunlight, and mana from her surroundings as she could.

She was merely acting as a intermediate, as through their link, she began to funnel this energy along with her own, towards Echo.

Melusine

"What are you talking about silly—" Melusine laughed, "This is my camping grounds!"

Being immersed in the river kept her power on the high, it wasn't where she was strongest —as she was even stronger in the Sea— but it was the next best thing. Still, she did understand that maybe Liam wasn't so keen on sleeping underwater.

"Hmm, there's an Oxbow Lake further up stream. That should provide a wide enough clearing for you to camp, or you can just set up camp on the river banks."

Although it was merely implied, she wanted to keep Liam close. One because it would be much easier to help him in case of trouble, and two because of...other reasons. It seemed that Liam had the intention of letting her keep the bell, and she was touched at the gesture.

"Oh—" Her expression brightening, she pulled out her own bell, a tawny bronze, and tossed it to Liam. "You can have that since I won't be needing it."

Liam was very happy that Melusine gave him the bell, it just meant one less person he had to fight before the exam was over. This made him ease up a bit and gave him a big smile. "Thank you so much Melusine. That m-makes two down and one to go. While Liam did like the sound of the lake, he was already tired as is. He also thought the river might provide them with a strategic advantage, as it gives them access to moving water and a larger supply for Melusine. It also seemed like Melusine really enjoyed the river and was only moving for his own benefit. "I think I can s-survive camping here for the night. I'm going to go look for anything nearby that could be helpful, l-like wood for a campfire. Will you take my bells while I'm g-gone?" He decided the smartest idea would be to give Melusine the bells just in case he ran into other students while he was gone. If he didn't have the bells on him, then they couldn't take the bells from him if they beat him. As a matter of fact, they really would have no reason to attack him in the first place, so it seemed like the safest option.

Verie nervously started forward. She was shaking on the inside. She knew no one, so that meant trusting anyone was out of the option. At this point, the safest choice was to bail.
But she didn't want to. She didn't.
She clenched her hands tightly and thought of her mother. Grace wouldn't want her to quit. Verie took a few deep breaths. All she had to do was stay cool and survive the night. The only thing she was worried about was getting hurt. Lots of people had partners when they started out, and she didn't. She had also noticed that they had already mastered their powers. Technically, she didn't have a power - her wings were a deformity. No matter what Grace said, Verie knew she was a freak.
Looking up, Verie stopped at the base of a wide tree. She dug her fingers into the bark, wincing when it scraped her skin. But she pushed on, forcing her feet into the wood and pulling herself up. Her wings flapped uselessly, trying to help her along, but it only hurt her more.
At the top, she sat down, exhausted, on a long, thick branch. She licked her scraped, bloodied knuckles and sat forward, looking for danger. She could hear voices of to her right, and she flung her wings over her head.
Yeah, like this is going to help, she thought sarcastically, before scooting back into the shadows.
She would wait, for now. Maybe she could find allies.
