A quick Stel-Review of the new generation. >>

Naetle, Hayashigame and Dodaitoise - Top favorite starters for this generation. Ankylosaurid-Tortoise things are awesome. Dodaitoise's face is eh, but It still kicks nine kinds of ass. The Ground type and high attack gives it the nice benefit of having EQ, and the only shame is that it can only get its best grass-type move (Seed Bomb) through breeding. Crunch and EQ still FTW, though. ^_^

Hikozaru, Moukazaru and Goukazaru - Yawn. Another Fire/Fighting. Hikozaru is cute, though. Moukazaru is just plain eh (the sprite looks better than the official art if I dare say so myself) - and Goukazaru's official art makes it look less like a Blazikape (with the exception of the eyes... Blue-in-Gold again, gah) and thus more appealing to me. Overall my second favorite starter line for this gen.

Pochama, Potaishi and Empelt - The least visually appealing starter for me - A cutesy Torchic wannabe that mutates into a Telefang Monster which then mutates into a savage mecha penguin samurai of death. Puh Leeze. Although, Empelt's official art has saved it from being considered the fugliest water starter ever concieved to me. (nods) The line actually learns a few interesting moves, and the final form has a rather nice special attack stat which makes it capable of making use of the deadly Luster Cannon move (hey, a 100% accurate steel move with a decent power that's SPECIAL? That's deadly in my books) as well as Surf - and its nice Water/Steel type combination adds STAB to that and to Surf, making it quite a deadly Alien Mecha Penguin indeed. If I'm not careful, I might even start to like it...

Mukkuru, Mukubird and Mukuhawk - The token early game birdies. Mukuhawk looks awesome, mind, it has great attack and speed, and it can benefit from moves like In-Fight and Aerial Ace. I don't think I'll be using it much, though, as its early-game-birdness makes it not very diverse. Also, Intimidate? Ugh.

Beappa and Beadal - A bizzare Normal/Water combination on the evo, I find those two to be rather... fugly. It may be the vacant expression or the freaky eyes, or maybe both, but yeah. Bad cartoon beavers. Their stats leave much to be desired, and while I suppose that could make Superpower a bit useful on them, They'd still be insta-pwned by every self-respecting fighting-type. They do learn a nice variety of TMs, though, and have some rather nice abilities.

Corobooshi and Corotock - EXTREMELY meh. Stats aren't very good, and there are a LOT of better bug types. a WHOLE DAMN LOT of better ones. Corotock looks vaguely nifty, actually, but looks aren't everything. Also, upon evolution, Corotock loses the very useful Shed Skin ability and gains Swarm, which you know my opinion of. Although, with that kind of stats and the fact most of the moves it learns are bug moves, maybe it won't be as useless after all...

Corink, Rukushio, and Rentorar - Aww, how cute, Kimba Wannabe evolving into an X-Ray Li... JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION GET IN THE CAR! (ahem) Sorry, 4chan memes going out of hand. Anyhow, Another pure electric type. Did we really need another one? Not really. But what the hey. Suffers from similar problems as Rakurai/Raibolt - nice stats, severe lack of move diversity. The fact its physical attack is better than its special doesn't help matters (a problem it shares with Absol). Ah well, we needed a lion anyhow. Y'know my take on Intimidate, though. Although the alternate ability is quite interesting.

Subomi, Roselia, and Roserade - No comment on Subomi could be vitriolic enough, I'm afraid. It's fugly, exceptionally useless and has an exceptionally annoying way of evolving. You probably already know my thoughts on the subject of Roselia. Roserade, on the other hand... Is one step the line has taken in the right direction. Nice special attack which makes Energy Ball (power 80 special grass move) even more awesome, Weather Ball may give it a nice diversity in face of different climates, and Shadow Ball, just for the hell of it, can make it a pretty good ghost-slayer. Say what you want about Roserade, you can't say it doesn't have balls. >>

Zugaidos and Rampard - With that kind of stats, no wonder that line went extinct! Even though its ability is quite nice (negating the effects of abilities - which is definitely going to be problematic for quite a few levitaters...), this pachycephalosaurid appears to exist for the sole purpose of entering battle, looking really impressive for a few seconds, possibly succeeding vaguely at striking one move, then getting insta-KO'd.

Tatetops and Trideps - FUGLY, FUGLY, FUGLY, FUGLY, FUGLY. I've wanted a ceratopsian PokéMon for ages and what we do we get when we finally get one? X_X A fugly Rock/Steel with defense stats up the stratosphere but no attack/speed stats to speak of, if at all. Its only point in existence seems to be to annoy people that will take years to kill it while it slowly and steadily hacks away at your HP. Break out the fucking dynamite, people. I'm going Trideps-hunting.

Minomuchi and Minomadam/Garmale - An interestingly diverse line with an intricate evolution system. Much like their real life equivalents, Minomuchi evolve differently by gender - males evolve into the adult moth form - yet another Bug/Flying type that looks like Masquerain and Butterfree's lovechild and has okay stats and a nice buggy movepool (though there are still better bugs out there). The interesting thing about this line though is Minomadam, the female's evolution. Minomuchi changes its appearance depending on the last place it fainted in (if i remember correctly), and depending on its form, it evolves into a Minomadam of either a Bug/Grass, Bug/Ground or Bug/Steel type. Every form has different stats and movesets - but low speed makes this interesting PokéMon possibly not worth using.

Mitsuhoney and Beequeen - BEST BUG TYPE EVAR. XD. I still wonder what the hell were they smoking when they designed that thing. Possibly the robots from Destiny Deoxys. Mitsuhoney is possibly the most useless bug-type EVER, with crappy stats and only Sweet Scent and Gust to call as moves. Males are the most common, and finding a female one will be a pain. However, only the females evolve into the rather deadly, Rockman.EXE-Navi-like Beequeen, which learns several nifty bug-type attacks and actually has decent stats.

Pachirisu - Token Electric Rodent/Pikaclone for the series. Terrible attack stats, okay defenses, nice speed, and its only probable use is for its PickUp ability.

Bouysel and Floasel - Otters! ^_^ While they are extremely cute, their stats and movepool diversity could have been better. They are fast physical attackers, which is a disadvantage for the mostly special Water-type. They are, however, the only PokéMon I know that makes Waterfall a useful move, given its power of 80, accuracy of 100 and PHYSICAL type.

Cherrynbo and Cherrym - (sigh) Another useless Grass-type, because every generation needs one. It appears to be the DP equivalent of Plusle and Minun, as when Sunny Day is in effect, it powers up itself and its partner. Still pointless though.

Karanakushi and Tritodon - Yay seaslugs! ^^ East Side and West Side jokes aside (Keepin' it Gangsta!) they're nice water/grounders with good special attack, but crap speed.

Eteboss - Oh joy. An Aipom evolution. (yawn) Actually gives it a nice boost to stats and diversity. Still creepy as fuck, though.

Fuwante and Fuwaride - Ghost/Flying Balloons! ^^ Amusing ones at that. With an ability that either makes them faster when they don't have an item (although their speed isn't that shabby with one either) or makes them the PokéMon answer to the exploding trees from EarthBound, stats that aren't on the whole too bad and a type combination that's not bad either, It makes them useful little ghosties.

Mimiroll and Mimilop - Normal-Type Rabbits. Stats-wise, they're nothing to write home about - good speed, okay defenses and not much attacks. they learn a vast variety of moves and they are in the humanshape group, making them useful breeders. Also, they can probably make decent baton-passers, if that's your thing. Also, yay for anthro things, even though Mimilop seems to me like it's going to be a major vector for darkside art. >>

Muumage - How long have I longed for a Misdreavo... Heh. A levitatin' pure ghostie who'd make a pretty good special sweeper, with really good special stats and speed. Also, it looks ace. Shame about it being a Pearl exclusive, though.

Donkarasu - Another long-awaited evolution. Nice attack stats and HP, and okay speed. Absolute crap defenses though, and maybe it's supposed to look like some kinda Gandalfy-Wizard-Wannabe, but I STILL think it looks like some pompous old rich lady. Or a drug dealer. Be sure to pick one up with the Insomnia trait, or you're going to be eating a LOT of critical hits. Diamond-exclusive.

Nyarma and Bunyatto - Another Pearl-Exclusive, and again, nothing to write home about. Its only high point is its speed.

Riishan - ANOTHER absolutely useless little pre-evolution to an already absolutely-useless PokéMon. Why?

Skupoo and Skutank - Yay for exploding dark/poison skunks. decent attack, HP and Speed, not very good in the defense department and its special attack isn't all that either. A shame really. I expected more. Diamond-exclusive.

Doomirror and Dootakun - Slow, Defensive, but just their Mayan-ness makes them interesting. xD

Bonsly - Yawn. Pre-evo.

Mime Jr. - Yawn. Another Pre-evo. Cute in the anime, and it makes Mr. Mime somewhat more useful, I guess.

Pinkupu - Ugh, what's WITH all these flippin' baby forms?! And for Chansey, too. Stab it now, kthxplz.

Perap - Cute, but sadly little more than a gimmick.

Mirakuge - Yay, another Dark/Ghost type. Looks bad, but has rather decent attacks and defenses. It's slow as frell, though.

Fukamaru, Gabite and Kaburias - Yay, Land Piranha. Evolving into a Land Shark. STILL think it looks like some kind of unholy spawn of Larvitar and Pacman, and later Sceptile and Rayquaza. It may have superior stats to Flygon, but I like Flygon better anyway purely based on appearance. Did we really need another Ground/Dragon?

Munchlax - Those of you who know me probably know what I think about pre-evos, what I think about Snorlax, and what I think about two wrongs not making a right. But Munchlax is kinda cute, in a freaky sort of way.

Hippopotas and Kabarudon - Another tank. Slow, meh special stats, but with some really decent attack and defense, and quite a few good physical moves. It's a pure-ground type though, and frankly, I don't trust anything that seems to be drowning in self-generated quicksand.

Scorpi and Drapion - ACCORDIONS. There could have been MUCH better scorpion PokéMon rather than these fugly things. They have a nice type combination (Dark/Poison) and pretty good stats, if a touch on the more defensive side, but... seriously. They just hurt my EYES, man.

Gregguru and Dokurog - Gregguru may be ugly but Dokurog looks flucking awesome. They've got an interesting movepool for Fighting/Poison types and rather decent stats, too. They have to really watch out for psychics, though... >>

Maskippa - It almost looks cute in the anime. Has pretty decent stats, too. Eh. I dunno. I don't have much of an opinion on it to be honest.

Keikouou and Neoranto - Oh joy. More useless generic fish. Not even worthy of spending time talking about them.

Tamanta - Mantine needed an EVOLUTION, NOT a Pre-evo. I don't really see its point, either.

Yukikaburi and Yukinooh - What can I say? Awesome type combination, but DEFINITELY not very appealing for me. Stat-wise they're okay, if a bit slow, ability-wise... Meh, I'm not fond of weather-inducing abilities, particularily because they screw 2 vs 2 battles up quite often, and last but not least, This thing is SUCH a bloody Yeti wannabe. X_X

Weavile - Stupid dubname, like its predecessor's. Still pretty useless, too. Nice attack and speed, though.

Jibacoil - My first reaction for this thing was WTF?! But It's grown on me, in spite of its UFO-ness. Nice special attack.

Berbelt - Lickitung may have needed an evolution, it has decent stats, but... oh god, that thing looks like a bad cartoon character.

Dosaidon - And I just dont' fucking get this thing. It's like a Telefang Evolution of Rhydon. No comment otherwise.

Mojanbo - So now it's bigger and has arms. Whatever. It still has CRAP defense and rather bad speed.

Elekible - This thing makes me want to BURN things. I'll refrain from further comments for the sake of my sanity.

Booburn - This thing makes me want to DROWN things. specifically, it. Ugh. X_____X

Togekiss - Kinda cute, and would make an awesome special sweeper.

Megayanma - BEST NAME EVAR. Even though it's pretty good and looks okay, its Bug/Flying type reduces its attractiveness for me, particularily because it could have made a great Bug/Dragon.

Leafia - I love this thing. It's officially my second-favorite Eeveelution. It has a NICE attack stat, which gives it some DEADLY leafbladability, and the potential to learn a few rather useful moves. And even though its sprite makes it look terribly chibi, I find it to be so damn cute...

Glacia - If Jolteon didn't occupy that spot unmovingly, this would have been my least favorite Eeveelution, though. Shiny form looks a little better, but still, disturbing. It's got a nice special attack and defense, but not much else.

Glion - YES. There are only a small few evolutions that I liked right off the bat and this is definitely one of them. Even though it has no special attack to speak of, most of its good moves are physical. It also looks awesome. And Gligar SO needed an evo. ^_^

Manmoo - DOUBLE YES. Piloswine gets a GOOD evo, for a change. Another thing I loved right off the bat (or the Boar Mammoth, in this case). ^^

PorygonZ - LOLZ PORYGONZ ROFFLECOPTERS. Stupid name, and I expected a LOT more from a Porygon Mark 3. Rayman wannabe. >>

Erurade - Nice type combo, useful attacks, and even though I still prefer Gardie over it... Leaf Blade. Decisions Decisions. xD

Dainose - I'm tempted to evolve one just to call it Groucho. >>

Yonowaru - DUSCLOPS EVO. Looks pwn, has Decent attack and good defenses, but slow. But still looks pwn.

Yukimenoko - Part-time Geisha, kinda cute, okay stats... And an Ice-Ghost to boot. ^^

Rotom - XD. With a name that's Motor Backwards, silly looks and silly stats, it's probably just in there for the novelty of being an Electric/Ghost. ^^;

Yuxie, Emuritto and Agnomu - Psychic Midget Patrol! Their official art makes them look somewhat like the O RLY owls, too. Overall, just another bunch of Mewannabes. Teh Stel does not approve.

Yuxie, Emuritto and Agnomu - Psychic Midget Patrol! Their official art makes them look somewhat like the O RLY owls, too. Overall, just another bunch of Mewannabes. Teh Stel does not approve.

Diaruga - Steel/Dragon. Nice type combination, shame it's wasted on a legendary. A nice looking one, but what the hey.

Parukia - We did NOT need another Water/Dragon. Also, Parukia looks nothing LIKE a Water-type. It looks somewhat like an EVA mech, to me. >>

Hydran - Fire/Steel. Another type combination I really wish they didn't waste on a legend. Particularily one that looks like a cross of a Dr. Wily mech and a Molten Toad.

Regigigas - Ah, the mighty Regigigas of mystery. The greatest mystery is of course just what the fuck is it made of. (I still vote for Marshmallow, Sprinkles, Broccoli and some Gold). Like the other Regis, it's a waste of valuable cartridge space.

Giladina - ... Why? Why another great type combination lost on a legendary, and an ugly one for that too? I hope for its sake it has a decent story....

Crescelia - Another pure psychic legend. Yawn. The Lanturn who wanted to be Saturn. It appears to be a brand new Legendary Beast/Lati-wannabe. Interesting design, though.

Fione and Manaphy - Another Mewannabe waste-of-space. Even though being based on a real critter (a Clione) adds it some sort of minor coolness, it's STILL just another Mewannabe. And Fione, too. Taiwanese Bootleg Manaphy. Also, the most pointless thing ever.

Darkrai - Vaguely nifty for a dark legend. An unobtainable, though.

Sheimi - 'nother Unobtainable. But it's just SO cute.

Aruseus - The Godmodia PokéMon, Looks like a crossbreed of Stantler and Absol that got strangled by a celtic knot, collects fine china and I dread to think at just how the fuck did the ancient Shinou-ans come to the conclusion that thing is a god of anything. Other than Fanmade PokéGods.

Weavile - Stupid dubname, like its predecessor's. Still pretty useless, too. Nice attack and speed, though.

Weavile is pretty much one of the strongest members of my team - and it's ten levels below everyone else. Thanks to the Physical/Special split, Weavile's not only a serious contender, it's a damn strong Pokemon. If I were to pick a single one out of the lot as my 'favourite of the Gen', it would have to be Weavile. It looks great, it's fantastic to use with a lot of good attacks and workable stats and is in general just pretty damn cool. :D

Yah. Weavile has got one thing going for it, and that is the fact it looks awesome. That and the fact it's a Nyura evo. And I love Nyuras. ^^;

... And as it turns out, Nyura is also one of the few older PokéMon that can actually benefit from the physical/special split... So yeah. I suppose I need to play these things. >>

Riishan - ANOTHER absolutely useless little pre-evolution to an already absolutely-useless PokéMon. Why?

Riishan isn't completely useless. Two move it can learn through breeding are Wish and Recover. A Chimecho with either one of those moves will be a (very slightly) better Cleric. Also, I really don't care wheher or not a Pokemon is a Baby Form of another (Satoshi Tajiri can make plans for pre-evolutions of Onix and Scyther for all I care).

Elekible - This thing makes me want to BURN things. I'll refrain from further comments for the sake of my sanity.

Booburn - This thing makes me want to DROWN things. specifically, it. Ugh. X_____X

*grumble* Why do people keep dissing these two guys?

Say what you want about Roserade, you can't say it doesn't have balls. >>

*groan* Could've used a better comment than that. How about: "Don't invite Roserade to a friendly game of dodgeball, 'cause it won't play friendly."

Weavile, Infernape, Roserade, Gastrodon, and Luxray. Especially Luxray. It's the most powerful Pokemon I have right now. Infernape is yet another great addition to the fire starter club. The Goku monkey rules! The head flame is awesome. I just couldn't get my head around the other two starters. You would think I would love a Earthquake using grass/ground type. But in the end I didn't. Piplup and Prinplup. I hate even saying their names aloud.

Gastrodon is sooooo cute. It doesn't have the power that Lapras has but it's still cool to me. Thanks to the new way of catagorizing attacks, Sneasel and Weavile can now use some dark and ice type attacks which only made me love them more. As a Budew, Roserade single handedly beat the first gym. And it gave me an edge by poisoning almost everyone on Cynthia's team and defeating her Gastrodon. Luxray is now my favorite Electric type.

I almost feel bad about this but I left my Lucario is the computer to rot after it evolved. I already had fighting type. I didn't need another at that time. It sound like a decent Pokemon though so I'll train it later.
