We've all played our fair share of RPGs. Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, and of course that certain game where you catch super-powered critters in tiny red and white balls. We were awed by the complex and thrilling storylines; we loved the characters and all their quirks; we've fought the unbeatable bosses; and of course, we've wielded those fantastic weapons that helped us save the day!

So, with all the weapons you've wielded in all the RPG you've played, which one was your favourite? Do you prefer the simple but effective blade of a sword? The sheer magical force of a wand? Or maybe even the adorable charms of a summoned beast? And if you could, which specific weapon from a franchise/game would you wield?

Personally, my love for animals reflects in my love for Summoned Beasts. There's just something really cool about commanding a magical/super-powered creature that is exclusive to only you. Swords and staves, meh; anyone can wield one of those. But it takes a unique bond for you to be able to fight alongside your beast of choice, and that's really neat. And if I could have any summoned beast of my own to wield, it'd probably be Izanagifrom Persona 4.

Creepy codpiece aside, Izanagi is one of my favorite designs from the Persona series. What's even more cool is that as a Persona, he is a reflection of the main protagonist's own personality. Well, I probably lack any redeeming personal characteristics to merit having as cool a Persona as Izanagi, but meh, I can dream~

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the basic blades. Anything with an epic design will do for me.

Which is why I particularly like the Master Longsword in Fable 2, despite the place it can be located for free.

The Winter Lodge will haunt me forever...

Ever-attempting to be more hipster than usual, I voted magic weapons. From a young age I loved the variety that magical weapons tended to give you in games, and they always fuelled my imagination more than most swords or shields did.

While it may not be counted as a physical, Mokka's earth magic in Magical Starsign really took the biscuit for me. His magic was costly, but powerful, and promoted my favourite magical element. His character in addition, was deadpan and collected, and added a (very dry) spice to his magic~

spears and scythes, they look cool but i'm leaning toward magic enhancing weapons. this may not count but i wound have to have Selphie limit break ff8, i love to have all that magic ;D

Hm. Well, my favorite would have to be spears and other long reach weapons. Because of prior experience, I'm rather good with wielding them, despite my small stature. Actually, my main Halo OC (who is also my LP character and, most recently, my first foray into D&D) wields an energy spear of her own ^^

If I had to choose something specific, though? That's a tough choice XD Although, I do enjoy the long blade weapons that the Covenant Honor Guard carries.

^Those things. I would like one. Although I'd probably have to make it shorter if it dwarfs an 8 foot Sangheili.

Also, on a side note, Izanagi is pretty awesome, but I personally am more a fan of Suzuka Gongen :> Maybe that's because I would totally cosplay Chie in a heartbeat |D

:)

(Like there was ever any doubt :p)

Otherwise, Summons from basically any game are awesome and I love them. ♥

Zelda's not an RPG. :x

*cough*

RX listed it as one in this case, and various mainstream gaming websites have too, so screw the rules - I claim the Master Sword! 8D

[me=Linkachu]stabs your Magikarp. Sword beats fish! [/me]

But if there's still room for argument, I demand this topic be altered to incorporate ALL video game genres. ;)

Feels like I haven't posted here in ages...

Anyway, I'm going to have to go with Bows, Crossbows, and other traditional projective weapons. I don't even know why they appeal to me so much, but I just know I'd love to take archery lessons in real life some day. Magic-based weapons range a very close second...could I combine the two and get a magic enhanced crossbow?

I personally prefer hack and slash weapons where I can just physically assault an enemy into submission. In this case, my favorite would be swords, but my favorite blade would probably be

I use this blade nearly all the time. It's good all around, and I really like its design and how it's based off one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. I do wish it could come back in the next KH game, but since Auron disapears at the end, I highly doubt it.

OH GOD I HAVEN'T POSTED IN AGES IM SORRY
Ahem.

Personally, it is a mix of Magic and Animals to me. I love nature, bugs, animals, that sort of thing, but I like all the magical powers and stuff. It's magical. The reason I play as Ness and Ivysaur in brawl. XD

Gosh, I love all sorts of weapons, but I have to like the basic ones. In DnD, I tend to use crossbows, daggers, and longbows. However, I am not against shortswords or more unusual weapons like the jo. In the role playing games on the site, I often use bos because I am more experienced with them. Personally, I have just started learning to use the jo, so I find it confusing, so I don't use them in text-based RPGs. Nevertheless, one cannot forget my love of animals. I love using the basic weapons nature gave various creatures to attack, like claws and teeth.

Knuckles and Claws for me, I prefer close combat to anything else really, mostly because it is something you don't have to lug around everywhere, they are light, efficient, and allows for the maximum potential flexibility.

My love for this kind of weapon goes back to the DS remake of Final Fantasy III, my favorite character was Luneth for his personality and the fact that he was the first character, and what made him cooler was the blue monk garbs I stuck him in right after he got some crystal power in him.

Luneth-monk.jpg

He wasn't too good at first, but as soon as his job level began to reach high places, he began to dominate. Whoever stood in his way was pummeled by his fists alone. And after making him a Black Belt, which honestly didn't look as cool to me, he continued to unleash his fists of fury and destroyed Xande with his boost.

To be honest, he was one of the role models I had in mind for my Charms persona, as personality and fighting style goes. So yeah, this is why I prefer knuckles, claws, and martial arts to all the other weapons.

Well, since I started my veerrrrrrrrry first Hunter in WoW like 7 years ago, I've kinda got stuck on Ranged classes. I like to go pewpew with my bow and yeah.

I dunno, but now I want to learn archery and become a ranger.

I'd use this beut, Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury:

It can generate arrows!

Seeing as I tend to choose characters that can attack from afar, I put my vote with "traditional projectile weapons". It's not that surprising, seeing I have that laser-fan and ice-whip, which are both far-reaching weapons (not projectile, but still far-reaching). The only RPG game I've played in a long time is MapleStory, and I've always been an Archer of some sort, be it Wild Hunter with its jaguar or a Wind Archer as a Cygnus Knight or just a plain old hunter. I've also been an assassin way back when I first started, since I liked the idea of throwing stars and knives around, but eh, I'm still a projectile long-range person. ^^;

Armblades. Zetta duh.

Otherwise, frankly, I'm torn. XD I've had characters wielding swords, claws, slashers/glaives (essentially bladed throwing weapons), even the occasional naginata. Summonable creatures also make an interesting choice... Bluh. Just give me a shapeshifting summon/weapon that can function as either an individual secondary attack unit or a weapon. Can't think of anything specific. XD

Magic makes you invincible, they are the best and most powerful, of course with a little summoning and there you are, one of the best characters in this aspect is Rydia from FF IV (grown up) she uses powerful black magic and summons >:D
