Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire bring an exciting new feature to the Pokemon World, the ability to fly around the skies of Hoenn freely. You can take in the stunning views while completely controlling the movement of your Pokemon, with you able to adjust the speed and even do tricks while you fly. Sometimes while flying you'll encounter flocks of Flying-Type Pokemon. Choosing to interact with the flock will begin a wild Pokemon encounter. Known Pokemon obtainable this way include:
To gain access to the skies you'll need a new Key Item known as the Eon Flute. This special flute allows you to call upon Latios or Latias, who'll Mega Evolve to grant you transport across all of the Hoenn Region. You can land at any time so long as you're above a route, island or town.
Once a day you can find a random Island. While only small, the island of the day will be easy to spot due to a distinctive red shine. The Island comes in five different types: Mirage Island, Mirage Forest, Mirage Mountain, Mirage Cave and Crescent Island. If you choose to land, you'll find a couple of rare items if you use the Dowsing Machine. Also, some of the islands have TMs and occasionally wild Pokemon which are not available in the usual Hoenn Region.
The Island also has a StreetPass feature, which basically gives you a second chance to visit an Island. If you've already seen your Island for the day and you StreetPass another player, you'll both be able to see and land on each other's Island.

Mirage Spots
There are parts of Hoenn that you can only get to while soaring on the back of Latios and Latias. These places are called Mirage Spots, and you'll only be able to encounter them when certain requirements are met. Mirage Spots contain a variety of Legendary Pokemon.
