April 22, 2552 - May 13, 2552

The Covenant are encroaching on the Inner Colonies--humanity is losing. Soon enough, they'll be upon Reach, and then? Earth. It's only a matter of time at this point, yet, the UNSC still fights. They don't expect victory. They fight simply to attempt and preserve the human race, and their way of life.

The planet Fumirole fell today. Confirmed Spartan casualties. Cole Protocol initialized.

UNSC Artemis-class battlecruiser Night of Roses (unofficially called "The Rose" by her crew) was confirmed MIA, with all hands unaccounted for. That was the official story, at least. In truth, the Rose hit a stroke of luck. Or rather, they were unlucky, depending on who you asked. They're pursued by a small fleet of five Covenant corvettes, lead by a Covenant assault carrier called Divine Declaration, commandeered by a fierce and relentless Covenant captain.

It was their destination that kept either from returning to the war they were waging, instead they discovered an ancient Forerunner world, one far different than any other that came before or after. The Forerunner called it... The Crucible, and the secrets it holds could determine the fate of the galaxy for eons to come.

——————————

Welcome to Halo: Crucible! Even if you're new to Halo, fear not, you don't have to be savvy with the knowledge. I can be your guide just as much as your DM for this unique, unofficial Halo experience. There are several key roles to fulfill, but fear not--you're not going to be laughably limited in what you can do. While stranded in unknown space, you'll have an entire planet at your disposal, enemies to fight, secrets to unlock, and an ancient conspiracy to uncover. Semi-open world is the goal here (not going full-on open world to try and keep the plot a little more contained so that everyone isn't overwhelmed with a dozen b-plots).

Join the UNSC crew; Night of Roses, an Artemis-class battlecruiser, one of only 46 ever made, and powerful enough to dance toe-to-toe with the more advanced Covenant ships--although it falters at close-range, possessing very little defense. The men and women on board just watched a planet go up in flames, and are itching to get back at the Covenant. Not all people on-board need to be military, either. The Rose just helped evacuate the planet, there's plenty of varying civilians on board as well.

Join the Covenant fleet, led by the assault carrier Divine Declaration, aided by five corvettes, with the sole intention of stomping out the fleeing human crew. They cannot run forever, and this collection of aliens knows it. While the Declaration primarily consists of Elites (Sangheili), the surrounding ships have diverse crews of Brutes (Jiralhanae), Jackals (Kig-Yar), Skirmishers (T'vaoan), Grunts (Unggoy), Drones (Yanme'e), Hunters (Mgalekgolo), and Engineers (Huragok). Seeing this Forerunner world, you cannot allow the humans to desecrate it with their mere presence, and you cannot risk harming the world, which is allowing these humans to survive just a little longer... but not for long.

(Obviously the opening premise is a remix on the original Halo: Combat Evolved formula, but that's the purpose. To start somewhere familiar, and build into something new.)

Enough with the formalities, now. If you have any questions or details you would like to know, I can edit them into this post to expand what knowledge you have quick access to--I'm always happy to explain something, or give you knowledge on information you desire, and any information revealed thus far that's relevant to what's been discussed thus far. Without further adieu, here come the character sheets;

UNSC Ship "Smart" Artificial Intelligence: 1 Role Available
ONI Commander: 1 Role Available
UNSC Spartan-III: 1-3 Roles Available
Covenant General: 1 Role Available
Covenant Elite Zealots: 1-3 Roles Available
Name/Age: Aon Òg, 19
Gender/Race: Male, Human
Occupation/Rank: UNSC NAVCOM Crewman Apprentice (CA)

Personality: Aon is a proud person, having been raised to honor heritage and skill when young. He is confident in his skills, and eager to prove himself, which can lead to overexerting himself. He has fairly notable intellect, but not high. Takes pride in keeping a strong physicality instead of his intellect, which can cause himself issues in the heat of the moment. Perseverant. Around others, he can come off as somewhat snobby and pushy, but generally tries to maintain a polite attitude. Not dealing with the destruction of his home world very well.

Biography: Born to a reasonably middle class family on Fumirole, Aon fell around the line of mediocrity at a young age in school. Despite what you may expect, this was more due to applying himself to the more physical side of things rather than where he'd would be strongest; In the classroom or behind a desk, working with his brain. As soon as he was able to convince his parents at 17, he began making plans to enlist in the UNSC NAVCOM. Luckily for him, the Recruitment Officer was just under his quota and it was near the end of the month. Not realizing this was the main reason he was able to enlist as he was, he happily went along to Boot Camp as a CRR, and began pushing himself to his limits upon realizing the expectations now placed on him...bringing him just above average. As such, he is a much more recent member of the Night of Roses' crew.

Appearance: Sporting the typical uniform of the UNSC NAVCOM, lacking in many notable identifiers, Aon is of just above average height at 5'10". He is fairly lean, but with some muscle, and his skin is a fawn, yellow-brown. His light brown hair is in a buzz cut, and he has dark green eyes affected by anisocoria, making his right eye appearing darker due to a larger pupil. Along with his uniform, he typically wears grey finger-less gloves.
Name/Species: Muwduw, Unggoy
Gender/Age: Male, 30 Human Years
Occupation: Covenant Grunt Deacon

Personality: Completely devoted to the Ministry of Tranquillity and the Covenant Religion as a whole, Muwduw is one who shows absolute loyalty to those over his rank. Along with his surprising intellect for an Unggoy which earned him his rank of a Deacon within the Ministry of Tranquillity, he also has a surprising amount of skill with learning new things. Despite his lower rank, he is absolutely stubborn in his duty to keep Kig-Yar obeying Ministry Regulations, despite this being a truly fruitless endeavour. Comes off as bossy and lacks a sense of humour, but does his best to help his allies in the name of the Covenant.

Biography: Born on Balaho, Muwduw was taken to labour work on the planet as soon as he could, but was discovered to be reasonably smart when he fashioned a reasonability effective tool when his own broke. As soon as this prodigal intelligence (Well, for one of his kind, anyway.), he was dragged off of the planet and set to work on learning the ways of the Ministry of Tranquillity, his path in life set. Being so young at this point, he was easily indoctrinated. He was taught of the sacred glyphs, and how to increase the faith in others. Eventually, he was set to work on multiple ships, until finally ending up on the Divine Declaration.

Appearance: Looks as you'd expect for a Unggoy Deacon. He's not one to fall out of line for attention through appearance, you know. Most notable feature is a small scar on his eye from when an Unggoy went mad during a service and he was attacked.
Name/Age: Caleb Miller, 22
Gender/Race: Male, half-Chinese/half-Caucasian
Occupation/Rank: UNICOM Private First Class

Biography: If one were to take a look at Caleb's life, they'd find nothing of note. He'd never impressed anyone in his life, and no one expected him to. His isn't a story where courage prevails, either, since he's been afraid ever since he was deployed to Fumirole. In fact, since Caleb was displaced from his squad and forced to take refuge onboard the Night of Roses during the Covenant attack, he's went from just afraid to scared shitless. However, upon finding The Crucible, he was given hope, and hope is a dangerous weapon even in the hands of the average man. (there is more backstory but I think I'll reveal that in-rp)

Appearance: Caleb's black hair is shaved into a buzzcut at all times. He has brown eyes and defined cheekbones, with a small nose smack in the center of his face. He's a 5'8" man with a moderately fit build, and of course he wears the uniform standard for his rank.
Name: Akaz 'Trevamee
Species: Sangheili
Gender: Male
Age: 57
Occupation: Zealot/Shipmaster

Personality: A stalwart believer in the purpose of the Great Journey. Akaz finds honor in the role of Sangheili as the military might of the glorious Covenant, and lives to serve the Prophets. Fascinated with Forerunner technology as religious artifacts, Akaz believes humanity to be savage interlopers with no respect for history, and no right to exist alongside the Covenant. A formidable military strategist, Akaz has a keen understanding of the Covenant's superior technology and numbers, and has not been afraid to take daring risks on the battlefield to outmaneuver humankind.

Biography: Born January 9th, 2495, Akaz was a fresh, infantry recruit just 30 years of age when the Human-Covenant War began. As a Sangheili Minor, Akaz was part of the pivotal Covenant invasion of Harvest, leading a small squadron of Unggoy under the wider umbrella of a Major named Ulum 'Akamee. After Harvest, Akaz would be promoted to Sangheili Major, and was assigned to the Covenant Corvette, Maudlin Zealotry.

Though in command of a relatively minor number of warriors, Akaz quickly proved he was capable not just as an infantry soldier, but in naval conflict, helping helm the Maudlin Zealotry after a human ambushed damaged the ship and left its Shipmaster dead during the Battle of Alpha Aurigae. Once he'd helped to relieve the pressure of the naval battle, Akaz then led a desperate assault on the UNSC ship Long Way Down with a small, hand-picked force of other Sangheili and a select-few Unggoy and Kig-Yar. Considered a pyrrhic victory for the UNSC, Akaz was commended for slowing a portion of the UNSC's assault long enough for a larger portion of Covenant ships to escape from the battle.

Akaz spent the next ten years on the Maudlin Zealotry, proving his effectiveness as a troop commander and as a solo combatant. It was shortly before the Siege of the Atlas Moons that Akaz was given a position as Sangheili Spec Ops, asked to infiltrate behind enemy lines alone with little support on a number of occasions. Some of his peers recognized his skill with an Energy Sword, old shipmates of his referring to him as the "Bright Blade of the Covenant." By 2540, Akaz 'Trevamee was a well-respected Spec Ops Officer within the military, known for his efficiency and ability to deal with problems as they arose, depending on the situation.

He fought for all three years in the violent conflict on the planet Meridian, first as a Spec Ops Officer leading raids on supply hubs and medical facilities in order to further cripple Covenant positions. Akaz himself spent almost three months stuck behind UNSC lines, fighting for his life every inch of the way to his eventual extraction by the Covenant Corvette Sinful Simony in 2550. Again, the ship itself came under heavy attack from UNSC forces as it returned to the Covenant lines. Finding the Shipmaster once again Killed in Action, with much of its crew scrambling as a response, Akaz took the captain's chair.

Sinful Simony - against all convention - spun about and charged again, trying to cut a straight line through the pursuing UNSC ships and back toward Meridian's surface. As the Simony found itself flanked by a pair of UNSC frigates, Akaz fired not only all the guns still working, but he fired the ship's escape pods like torpedoes, loaded with plasma grenades ready to blow on impact. Using their Corvette's superior speed, the Simony just escaped the ensuing explosions, losing a chunk of its rear engines in the process. But the UNSC held off on ordering any further naval assaults to push Covenant lines (at least that day), and the Simony successfully crash-landed on Meridian. From their position, what crew survived the crash defended the Simony while the Covenant made a ground assault to push UNSC lines back.

Akaz 'Trevamee accepted a battlefield promotion to Shipmaster of the Sinful Simony just in time for repairs to come to completion, and for the order to come to glass the planet. The new Shipmaster gleefully returned his ship to Covenant lines, and set to glassing Meridian after almost four long years of brutal fighting.

A part of the Covenant force that took the planet Fumirole, the Sinful Simony was a part of the small fleet that broke off from the general assault to follow the UNSC Night of Roses, alongside the Divine Declaration; the wide-eyed Akaz nearly broke down weeping at the sight of the Crucible, and determined himself to keep the filthy human paws off of such divine beauty.

Appearance: Adorned in a Zealot's combat harness, Akaz could be hard to distinguish from the general Sangheili for prying, human eyes. But he's large (about 2.8 meters tall, 185 kilograms), with longer legs than normal, but smaller mandibles. A large portion of his armor shows wear and tear from its many years of use against the savage human race.
Name: Giacomo "Jackie Grizz" Grizziolo
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Occupation: UNICOM Enlisted Marine
Rank: Corporal

Personality: "Not the toughest, smartest, quickest or savvy of the bunch—but you knock him down and spit on his face, he gets back up and wipes that spit away; put an immovable obstacle in his path, and he'll be climbing over it while others would admit defeat. If you tell him to hold his ground, there'll he'll stand, and there he'll fall if it comes to that." — ONI Psychological Profile on Giacomo Grizziolo upon recommended promotion from Lance Corporal to Corporal.

Always having drifted through at the middle of the pack, Jackie enlisted in the military out of a dreadful sense of extinction-level danger for his species. What his superiors saw was a highly-capable soldier trying to shy away from any sort of real responsibility. And, being cruel bastards, Jackie found himself not only saddled with a lot more responsibility than he was comfortable—he found that he was thriving. A leader by example, he tried to prove to his peers that nothing was impossible to humankind, in spite of the incredible odds against them.

Now, Jackie Grizz is known by some Marines as a "problem solver," leader of a Fireteam appropriately named "Fireteam Plumber," a Marine unit comfortable with long-range reconnaissance and extended missions with limited supply and available intelligence. Hardened by an entire lifetime of war, the once-lax boy has become a gruff, hardline veteran. Life outside of combat affords him little pleasure, outside of playing chess or cards, or occasionally reading old literature. Jackie Grizz revels in battle, feeling a BR rattling between his fingers, or driving the butt of his magnum into the unshielded cranium of an overconfident Elite—truly a soldier, through-and-through.

Biography: Born August 9, 2518 on Reach. The Covenant attacked Harvest when Giacomo was only seven years old. Jackie spent a lot of his youth getting into trouble with his close friend, Mattie being expelled from several private schools as a pre-teen and teen before eventually dropping out of high-school entirely. Arrested for petty theft at the age of seventeen, Jackie was initially threatened with jail time if he didn't enlist in the military. Surprisingly, Jackie took the jail time—at first. It was only a matter of 60 days, but while in jail, Giacomo thought harder than he ever had in his life, wondering about the decade-old Covenant War and his role in life. Giacomo Grizziolo enlisted in the Marines less than a week after being released from jail, on April 3, 2536.

PFC Grizziolo was first deployed to Kholo in 2538, eventually seeing action when the colony was attacked the following year; although Jackie didn't distinguish himself in battle, he escaped a very bloody affair that saw but a few, short hours of brutal fighting before the humans were overwhelmed and were forced into retreat. During the brief conflict, Jackie watched his close friend - Mattie - die in a plasma grenade explosion. That was also the first time Giacomo saw a planet glassed with his own two eyes. He claims the sight still causes him to lose sleep to this day.

The Battle of Draco III is remembered as a UNSC victory for the role the Spartans played in securing the battle, but before the Spartans arrived, Draco III was a disaster—but it might have been worse, without a few Marines who'd stayed behind to hold off advancing Covenant forces; there had been no way to save everyone, but the UNSC contingent on Draco III had managed to get away with a large portion of civilian colonists. In order to save a thousand lives (or more, he never really found out), Jackie Grizz was one of fifty Marines who agreed to protect the retreat. Forty of those Marines fell, the final ten retreating into a nearby forest for some time, once again pursued by Covenant forces bent on wiping them out—until the Spartans arrived, and went on the offensive. One of just six remaining now, Jackie Grizz led the survivors back to the wreckage of the city New Albany, where they were able to salvage and escape on a Pelican, having not once crossed paths with the Spartan soldiers.

Later deployed to Sargasso the following year, Jackie Grizz's unit was deployed to a critical chokehold in the city New Bermuda on the roof of a hotel; if the Covenant broke through their position, New Bermuda could be encircled by Covenant ground forces in a matter of minutes. Instead, the Marines held their position for twelve days, even as the rest of the planet fell around them. When the Covenant finally moved into position overhead to begin glassing Sargasso, New Bermuda was the sole city held by the UNSC following the brutal ground assault. Following the battle, Giacomo Grizziolo was promoted to Lance Corporal for distinguished bravery in the face of defeat.

In 2549, LCPL Grizziolo fought in the long-protracted Siege of Paris IV; he was nearly caught in the city of Mimir when the glassing started, separated from his Fireteam, having to arm himself with Covenant weapons unfamiliar to him. As the desperate Jackie Grizz tried to locate a way back to the evacuation center, he encountered a small contingent of civilians who - themselves - had gotten separated from their Marine escort. The civilians pointed him toward a tunnel known as the Cochineal Pass, which would loop them back around behind where Mimir was being glassed, close to where Staff Sergeant Avery Johnson's Marines held positions to protect evacuating civilians and shuttles. He would later volunteer to return to the Cochineal Pass after it had been glassed to search for survivors.

Promoted to Corporal early in 2551, Jackie Grizz next saw action during the Battle of Fumirole in 2552; amid another horrible loss for the UNSC, Corporal Grizziolo maintained the valiant defense of a vital supply hub in spite of overwhelming ground assault and artillery shelling by the Covenant—when it became clear the Marines could no longer hold their position, Jackie Grizz himself stayed behind in order to facilitate the successful evacuation of not only the rest of their withering supply, but what little civilian population remained alive after failing to evacuate prior to the invasion.

Giacomo Grizziolo led Fireteam Plumber, a short supply train of weapons, ammunition and medical supplies, and about two dozen civilians several miles in the night as the Covenant pulled back their ground forces in places to begin glassing Fumirole; they retreated to the UNSC Night of Roses, an experimental battlecruiser, which left the planet under heavy assault by a small, Covenant detachment. When all seemed lost...they found the Crucible.

Appearance: Once a lanky, lean teen, Giacomo Grizziolo - like many other Marines - took up weight-training to build muscle over the years. Now just a little under six-feet tall, he weighs in at around 230 lbs, with evenly-distributed muscle weight between arms, chest, back and legs alike—he's not a hulking presence, but his stature can give pause to weaker Elites.

Jackie Grizz has short-cut, dark brown hair and matching brown eyes; the left side of his chin and neck are burned almost black from old plasma wounds, other burns and cuts streaking up across his face like crinkling aluminum foil. The lobe of his left ear is missing entirely. He covers much of his face with a close-cut, black beard.

Outside of his Marine get-up, Jackie sticks to tank tops (black or grey), patterned shirts (collared, short-sleeved usually) and slacks cuffed up high, often with combat boots.

Other: Recon/Sniper specialist; strong driver and proficient pilot; 2444+2445 UNSC Ever the Fury Intramural Boxing champion.
Name/Age: Mikayl Varadkar / 59
Gender/Race: Male / Indian descent
Rank: UNSC NAVCOM Admiral aboard Night of Roses

Personality: A hard-as-nails UNSC naval commander. He takes no shit, and he's all business, especially where his enemies are concerned. While praised for his tactical genius and battlefield achievements, he's not somebody you take to a party. When he isn't thinking about ways to gut a Covenant assault carrier, he's thinking of ways to gut a Covenant supercarrier. He's completely obsessed with the career he's fashioned his life around, leaving him possibly incapable of empathizing with others, although he does strongly prioritize morality and doing "the right thing" above all else, building him a reputation within the UNSC for his low death rate among his crew when compared to most other UNSC vessels. Mikayl is not afraid to get physically aggressive with his own bridge crew should they disobey his orders, or not act in a timely manner. While many respect the man, he's almost equally feared by those around him. He also has a light Indian accent.

Biography: Born in 2493 on the planet Arcadia, the Insurrection War began just a year later, and Mikayl grew up in a world where it seemed terrorists would target your home just to piss off the UNSC. His father had been part of the UNSC, but when Mikayl was 17, his father defected to the Insurrection, whilst Mikayl himself pursued a career within the UNSC.

In 2512, when Mikayl was 19 years old, his father attempted to manipulate him into operating as a mole within the UNSC, leaking secrets and intel about the UNSC to the Insurrection. This only created an impossible barrier between the two, as they had tried to set aside their allegiances before for the sake of family, but now both disowned one another. The next year, Mikayl's career within the UNSC truly began with his promotion to Ensign aboard the UNSC Frigate Well Endowed, its name reflecting much of the crew and their immaturity, considered one of the worst postings to get at the time. Almost a guaranteed discharge by the end of your initial assignment. Mikayl defied the odds by maintaining his training and his professionalism, earning himself a rapid promotion toward Lieutenant, and he was given his own ship, albeit just a support ship, at the age of 22.

In 2516, while aboard his small vessel, the UNSC Rabbit's Foot, he received a UNSC distress pulse near the Eridanus system. Relaying a comm buoy toward any nearby UNSC ships, the Rabbit's Foot investigated the distress beacon alone, which turned out to be an Insurrection trap. Outgunned and outnumbered a hundred to one, Mikayl surrendered himself, his ship, and his crew to the overwhelming Insurrection force, who intended to further utilize their strategy, and now the Rabbit's Foot, as bait for larger, more important UNSC targets. Imprisoned, Mikayl was violently interrogated by the rebel forces, before it was discovered he had ties to a high-ranking member of the Insurrection itself. As he was tossed back in confinement to get in contact with Mikayl's father, he began to devise a plan of escape.

Five days after being captured, Mikayl feigned a stroke when his guard was its lightest. The lone guard who rushed in to check on him was subsequently knocked out, and Mikayl staged a daring escape as he began to free the prisoners collected from other captured UNSC ships, and a full-scale war blew out on the massive space station the rebels had built. The station, not designed for interior conflict, began to quickly deteriorate, and Mikayl managed to load his crew back onto the Rabbit's Foot, and with several other UNSC ships, bailed while the Insurrection weren't prepared to pursue them. While many lives had been lost, Mikayl had been the key to saving many more. It was this event that got him promoted once more to Lieutenant Commander, and was stationed as the First Officer aboard the UNSC Well Endowed, returning to the very ship his career had begun on.

In 2522, when Mikayl was 29 years of age, the Well Endowed was placed on the frontlines of a push against Insurrection forces that had wedged themselves in the Draconis system. While the initial assault saw early and critical success, one of the supporting UNSC carriers suddenly departed the fight, before returning on the Insurrection's side, a mole on the inside having taken command of the ship and allowed Insurrection forces to board. This turn of the tide, with such a powerful ship, left the UNSC forces scrambling as the Insurrection began to methodically wipe them out. Damage to the bridge of Well Endowed left the captain killed, and Mikayl was left to assume command, using the light weight of the frigate to dart through ship debris, and eventually trick some targeted weapon systems of the Insurrectionists to strike each other, managing to cripple one ship whilst disabling the stolen carrier's main gun. While forced to retreat in the end, Mikayl's initiative continued to impress his higher-ups, and he was promoted to Commander aboard the Well Endowed. Additionally, he later was given news that his father had been among that fleet he'd fought, and had been confirmed killed in action.

Everything changed when the Covenant arrived in 2552, when Mikayl was 32 years old. While the initial reports had been mostly covered up by ONI and the UNSC, it wasn't until 2528 that Mikayl was faced with reality, as his ship was suddenly assaulted by a Covenant scout ship in the XI Boötis A system. Fortunately, Mikayl was able to call for reinforcements as he made to evade the Covenant vessel. To his surprise, Admiral Preston Cole responded, and arrived with a fleet of seventy ships, armed to the teeth, a fleet Mikayl himself had never before seen. The scout ship was quick to retreat, only to reveal the eight Covenant warships that had been cloaked in deep space, passively observing the Well Endowed's attempts at survival. Thus began one of the longest naval battles in the early parts of the Human-Covenant war. During the engagement, the Well Endowed became disabled, and was nearly destroyed. The bridge sealed itself off from the rest of the ship after a plasma slug tore through the entire vessel. Cole's fleet managed to destroy the Covenant ships, at the cost of half his fleet. Mikayl and his surviving bridge crew managed to get picked up, and returned to safe space, where Mikayl swore to take the war to the Covenant, now believing the rumors he'd heard for years. Preston Cole, having been impressed with Mikayl already, advised a promotion to Captain, which was granted, and Mikayl accepted at the age of 35, was given a new ship, and became detrimental in fighting Covenant naval forces over the coming years.

Over the course of the next 24 years, Mikayl fought tooth and nail against the Covenant, hellbent on the preservation and protection of humanity, eventually being promoted to Rear Admiral, then Vice Admiral, and finally to Admiral in the year 2550, being given his newest vessel; Night of Roses, alongside his own fleet to command. He offered transport to Spartan Noble Team to Fumirole in 2552, and while a Covenant supercarrier was successfully destroyed, the planet was still lost. Spartans had been confirmed killed (though the records would say MIA). Mikayl's fleet was left in tatters, and after evacuating all the civilians he could from the planet, he retreated into deep space, utilizing the Cole Protocol, just as Fumirole began to be glassed.

Now, he's stuck staring at an unknown and possibly dangerous planet, all while a small fleet of Covenant dog him from behind, leaving his options limited at best, non-existent at worst.

Appearance: Standing at 6'3" and weighing 244 lbs, Mikayl has an intimidating frame of broad shoulders, solid arms, and a stern, scarred face. He's begun to bald, shortly after his hair turned white, leaving a white strip going along the back of his head. His skin is dark, and his eyes are a cold, charcoal black. While he does wear the standard uniform befitting a UNSC admiral, he oftentimes arrives on the bridge in his pajamas, claiming he didn't have the time to get formal. Clean-shaven and ripped for a dude almost 60, it's no wonder that barely anybody can successfully talk back to the guy.
Name/Age: Sofie Meyer / 22
Gender/Race: Female / German descent
Occupation: Documentarian / Photojournalist

Personality: While she can be pushy and a little annoying, she's generally a very upbeat kind of person, always trying to look for the bright side of things, ever the optimist. Of course, the recent destruction of her home and slaughter of her entire family has left her more than a little scarred, and certainly rocked her world, but its only instilled a need to keep people motivated. To keep people remembering what it is they're fighting for. She's nothing if not determined to keep hope inspired in those around her.

Biography: Fumirole was where she was born, raised, and thought she'd probably die, war or not. Brought into the world in 2530, the world was already experiencing a war with the Covenant empire by this time, but it seemed so distant. She was raised in a world where hostile aliens seemed normal, situated enough into the inner colonies that Insurrection influence on her life was so small it might as well have not existed. Speaking of small, that's how Sofie felt. She felt small and insignificant in an ever-expanding universe, where the only notable people of the last three centuries had been military.

Initially, Sofie thought about joining the UNSC when she came of age, and her intellect qualified her as a potential candidate for ONI, but she eventually decided to be a voice for the little people. In a galaxy where the only news you heard and saw was about the latest loss to the Covenant, Sofie took the time to begin documenting the mundane, dull, and even wholesome acts within her home, and around her city. Her positive and inspiring outlook managed to land her a job at a local news studio as a reporter, encouraged to bring her unique spark in 2548 just after her 18th birthday. While doing this, she took up photographer, and eventually left her job to begin impacting a wider audience as a photojournalist and a documentarian, keeping tabs on all the positive things in her life and in the world around her.

Snap to 2552, April 22. The rumors of a Covenant invasion proved correct, and before anyone realized what was happening, the planet was already under siege. Terrified, scared shitless, without hope, all fit Sofie's state-of-mind at the time--yet, she remained. She chose to stay, and do her job, to document and record the war on Fumirole as best as she could. Before she was forced along the evacuation onto Night of Roses, she even managed to record a team of Spartan-III's battling against the Covenant.

Little does she realize that she'll have the greatest opportunity a documentarian could hope to have, when the Night of Roses arrives at the Crucible. The only question on her, and everyone else's minds; "will we live long enough to tell the tale?"

Appearance: Standing at 5'3", and weighing near 140 lbs, she's undoubtedly a small young woman, but that doesn't keep her down in the slightest. With shoulder-length auburn hair, and dark brown eyes, she had arched, thick eyebrows, and typically wears casual clothes. A basic t-shirt, jean-shorts, and tennis shoes. Now aboard the Night of Roses without any personal belongings aside from her camera and bag with several logbooks, she'll have to change into spare clothes those aboard can share, or remain in her already beaten outfit.
Name / Species: Trition / Jiralhanae (Brute)

Gender / Age: Male / 92 (Earth Years)

Occupation: Chieftain (Commands most Covenant ground forces for the Shipmaster, but only minor Sangheili. Most Sangheili outrank him)

Personality / Biography: Trition was a young, rageful warrior when the Covenant discovered his war-torn people. They were uplifted from their self-destructive ways and given holy testimony. For 60 years, Trition has served the Covenant, devout in their religion. For 27 years, he has helped exterminate human colonies in the name of the Prophets. While he has no blood relation to the War Chief called Tartarus, Trition and Tartarus consider one another war brothers. Trition was once a Brute who answered to Tartarus' uncle, named Maccabeus, before Tartarus overthrew Maccabeus for his incompetent decisions. Trition stood beside his war brother as their holy war began against the humans on a world called "Harvest". As Tartarus grew to command the Brutes as a whole, Trition preferred to remain on the frontlines, leading charges against humanity, each kill bringing him closer and closer to what he calls "Brackhto", or "enlightenment", as Trition believes that he could lead the Covenant to Halo if he kills enough enemies in the names of the Holy Prophets. Despite his unwavering devotion to the Covenant, Trition (like most Brutes) despises the Elites, the two species not hiding their disdain for one another in the slightest. While Trition obeys his Sangheili superiors simply out of his duty to the Covenant religion, he takes no enjoyment out of it, and is constantly looking for ways to convict Elites of heretical acts, no matter how far fetched.

Appearance: Trition bears heavy, matted, white fur along his body. His massive beard is bound together opposed to the braiding most Jiralhanae do, and most of the fur on his head has faded away with age. In and out of combat, Trition prefers to wear his own custom set of Chieftain armor, its design altered from anything standard issue to include bits of armor from fallen brothers and to increase combat efficiency. He's painted it a dark black to contrast his white fur, though he doesn't paint over bits of armor from fallen brothers, leaving bits of blue, red, and golden armor to dot his black shell.
Name/Age: Emily Rinherst / 28

Gender/Race: Female / Human

Occupation/Rank: Spartan III / Corporal

Personality: Emily is a gutsy and dedicated soldier, with a fierce sense of loyalty and trust for her allies. She is a powerful combatant with a keen eye and a sharp mind. She loves to be around others and is a great person to be around do to her constantly high spirits and usually chipper attitude. She likes stargazing and exercise but has a hatred for gross things and hates birds of any kind usually stating that they just kind of creep her out.

Biography: Her father had died at the hands of the covenant and her mother had died during child birth. This meant that Emily grew up an orphan on Reach. She didn't feel like she had much of a place and was angry at the covenant for stealing her chance at having at least one parent. So at the age of 13 she volunteered for the Spartan III program. She was a quick study and soon became a skilled marksman and a strong combatant. She was assigned to the UNSC Artemis-class battlecruiser Night of Roses by the time she turned 18 and has served on board ever since.

Appearance: She is a Caucasian woman with a fit military physique. She stands at 6 foot 9 inches without armour and 7 foot with armour. She has several small scars dotted around her body with a couple on her face. She has cherry blonde hair with pale grey eyes, her hair is cut short to accommodate her helmet and she has a spattering of freckles across her face. She wears the "air assault" variety of the MJOLNIR Mk. V armour in a dark green colour.
Name/Age: Alistair "Ali" Blake / 22

Gender/Race: Female / Scottish

Occupation/Rank: Sniper, Lance Corporal

Personality: Cold and militaristic, Alistair only ever does things if there is a logical reason to do so. Some may call her lazy, but she considers herself efficient. Unlike many people, she has no problem being patient and waiting for days on end in the same position only to be met with failure — likely a result of her training as a sniper. Relationships, in Alistair’s opinion, are a waste of time unless they are purely professional and used to get a job done faster. She can and will manipulate others to make her own work get done faster, better, and more efficiently, and she doesn’t mind in the slightest being used by higher-ups to the same end. In Alistair’s mind, that is a sign of strength. However, she refuses to take orders from those she doesn’t respect, so if you’re the same rank as her she won’t do a thing you say unless she herself came to the same conclusion, or you did something particularly worthy of her respect in the past.

Appearance: Cropped blond hair, acid green eyes, and a spray of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Alistair is fair but not pale, with a hostile, stand-offish, almost predatory vibe. She has snake bite piercings below her lips, and several more piercings in her ears. Oftentimes she wears half-moon-shaped scope glasses. Most of the time Alistair’s jacket is tied around her waist, revealing strong shoulders and wiry arms wearing a tank top underneath. She has an athletic body type with adequate curves, though her limbs are crossed with a plethora of scars. A few loose strands of hair usually fall over her face in an endearing fashion, which she hates. With her jacket on, she could easily be mistaken for a man.

The M6C Magnum Sidearm is a short-medium range UNSC handgun that was distributed to members of the UNSC Marine Corps, particularly members of vehicular crews. This model has been up-sized to be used by Spartans in MJOLNIR armor. Even though the Spartan issue pistols are larger than the standard-issue variants (~117%) they can still share magazines. The M6C is a semi-automatic, recoil-operated, magazine-fed handgun. It has DA, or double-action only trigger and fires the M228 12.7×40mm SAP-HP round (Semi-Armor Piercing, High Penetration) from a 12-round magazine. It has a considerably high rate of fire (6 rounds/sec or 360 rounds/min) with a limited maximum effective range, being able to hit a target accurately at only about 20 meters. The M6C is considered to be the weaker of the currently usable M6-series models in that it has reduced accuracy, a shorter effective range, and lower efficiency rate against shielded, armored, and soft targets.
M6Cmagnum.png
The M6D is a recoil-operated, magazine-fed handgun, chambered in 12.7x40mm ammunition, typically employed with semi-armor-piercing, high-explosive (SAPHE) rounds of that chambering, and feeding from 12-round detachable box magazines. It has also been known to be chambered in the .450 Magnum load. The weapon is somewhat unusual for a handgun in that it is capable of both semi-automatic and automatic firing. The M6D is one of the M6 series' upscaled variants, being larger than non-upscaled M6s by roughly 117%. The M6D is also an officer's model, and in this capacity was employed by Captain Jacob Keyes on the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. Like other officer's model M6s, the weapon is fitted with smart-linked KFA-2 optic for utilization by those employing a heads-up display.
M6Dmagnum.png
The MA5B is a gas-operated automatic rifle chambered in the widespread 7.62x51mm cartridge, most often used with standard M118 FMJ-AP ammunition, though also employed with shredder and hollow-point rounds. MA5Bs typically feed from 60-round detachable box magazines. Hollow-point rounds are loaded into magazines marked with red paint for rapid identification. The weapon's automatic rate of fire is 15 rounds per second, but it can be limited to semi-automatic or 3-round burst via a fire selector to conserve ammunition and alter firing pattern.
MA5B.png
The M90 is a pump-action shotgun, chambered in the extremely powerful 8-gauge magnum shell, and feeding from a 12-round, dual-tubular, non-detachable magazine. It is generally utilized alongside MAG 15P-00B rounds, and is designed as a more practical and cost-effective recreation of Misriah Armory’s M45E Tactical Shotgun, though in UNSC service it is considered to be functionally identical. The magazine of the weapon is prominently positioned above the barrel, with the weapon's glowing iron sights mounted atop it and the receiver located just behind, facing upwards, roughly in-line with the trigger. The magazine possesses a dull grey or glossy black finish with ribbed indents along its length. A flashlight is integrated into the weapon’s forend, which also features a prominent reddish button.
M90.png
The M41 rocket launcher fires M19 102mm high-explosive shaped charge missiles. The weapon uses a unique system for loading and firing: rather than using a traditional magazine or single-shot system, it is fed by a pair of detachable barrels, each of which holds a single rocket. When one of the rockets is fired, the other is cycled into place; when both have been fired, the operator removes the barrel unit and inserts another. This allows the operator to quickly reload while in combat and greatly reduces the weight he carries without throwing the weapon away, as with some disposable rocket launchers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
SPNKr.png
The SRS99C-S2 AM is a gas-operated, magazine-fed sniper rifle chambered in the powerful 14.5×114mm cartridge. Its mode of fire is semi-automatic and it is typically fed by 4-round detachable box magazines. As befits their sniping role, they are issued with optics, such as the Oracle N-variant scope scope.
SSRSsniper.png
The M7057 flamethrower is a standard chemical flamethrower, which projects and ignites a stream of a volatile, semi-liquid adhesive known as Pyrosene-V. The M7057 flamethrower is cumbersome and relatively difficult to tactically use (psychologically as well as mechanically). In its role as a defoliant projector, it is designed to be used to rapidly clear away heavy foliage for in-theater construction projects and to destroy new or persistent growth from emplaced and/or hardened military assets. Despite being all but obsolete militarily its effectiveness as a psychological weapon is undeniable—unfortunately, the psychological effect is a double-edged sword. The psychological impact of employing an M7057 makes it one in a very small number of items available to UNSC personnel that remotely earmarks the user for a full battery of psychological tests. Due to the weapon's massive size and weight, it is usually deployed with a cart on which to transport it.
Flamethrower.png
HE-DP stands for High-Explosive Dual-Purpose. This designation means that it is designed to be effective against infantry and lightly armored vehicles. AP designates "anti-personnel", indicating the weapon's intended use. The grenade has a hard metal casing, with a frangible design meant to break apart into small, regular shards. This surface creates consistent, reliable fragmentation patterns for the grenade, rather than randomly rupturing along metallurgical faults. The grid-shaped casing houses a charge of ComL high-explosive fitted with a mechanical primer. When the charge detonates, it shatters the grenade's casing, sending shrapnel flying away at high velocity.

UNSC COMBAT UNIFORM (LAYERED)
marines.jpeg
A human-controlled planet by the UEG (United Earth Government), possibly a geologically unstable world, and was the site of a rash of drugs distributed by the Insurrection called "rumbledrugs", which would greatly enhance one's physical abilities at the cost of sanity, and had a 100% death rate only minutes after being taken. It was recently glassed by the Covenant, and several Spartan casualties are confirmed. A significant loss to the UNSC, and an even greater blow to humanity.
fumirole.jpg
These ships are monstrously-sized, and often used for planetary glassing. Despite their amazing size, their crews are incredibly small (not including the thousands of units they transport). Bringing down one of these juggernauts is something no human, let alone fleet, have managed to accomplish without suffering overwhelming loss themselves.
17,540 ft in length.
6,950 ft in width.
2,450 ft in height.
2.7 billion tonnes in weight.
Equipped with powerful, full-body shielding, it takes immense firepower to punch a hole into the shields (often a nuke will suffice), and even then, the shields can repair themselves near instantaneously, though the shields needs to be procedurally deactivated to allow the ship to fire. The shields are also weak to a ship ramming into it.
Equipped with 40,000 warriors, 44 drop ships, 600 banshees, 700 ghosts, 196 wraiths, and 3 scarabs. The crew itself consists of only 200 Sangheili, and 10 Engineers to perform menial tasks.

Powerful enough shields, though notably the weakest in a Covenant fleet. While still more powerful than any USNC shielding, the corvette's shields don't regenerate nearly fast enough to prevent further harm to its hull, and the shielding is often weakest around the ship's thrusters, making them "dead-in-the-water" an achievable task, though not easy.
Each corvette holds 2 dropships, 18 banshees, and up to 100 warriors, with a crew size of 16 members, and 2 accompanying huragok.

The plasma pistol is a Covenant directed-energy weapon that was reverse-engineered from a Forerunner device. The weapon is powered by a battery cell. This battery can be recharged using a variety of power sources, including UNSC generators, provided an appropriate adaptor is at hand. Plasma pistols have a core power output of 100-150 KV at 2~3 dA, but when overcharged, the power output can reach 1.5 MV @ 2~3 dA. The Type-25 DEP is a semi-automatic weapon using a single collimator design that gives the weapon its smooth and aerodynamic, claw like appearance. The Type-25 DEP's functionality is straightforward, the rear section of the pistol has a holographic display which indicates temperature as the weapon is fired—in the center of the holographic display is a small red pad, this pad is the Type-25 DEP's safety and activation mechanism. Before the plasma pistol can be fired the user must place their thumb on the pad, the pistol then activates and can be fired. On the left side is another small red button this opens the top heating vent and allows access to the weapon's internal components.
plasmapistol.png
The Type-25 plasma rifle is a battery-powered directed-energy weapon that is capable of fully automatic fire. The two segmented portions of the rifle function as large plasma generator subassemblies. The pair of curved bodies are joined via the trigger guard, creating the rifle's distinctive smooth, streamlined shape. The rifle, like most Covenant weapons, is smooth and aerodynamic, almost organic in appearance. The plasma rifle's design has only changed slightly over its centuries of service. The weapon's contemporary design was the result of Forerunner technology, Sangheili craftsmanship, and San'Shyuum artistry. The plasma rifle's design was noted to be jawlike, a design that perhaps unconsciously mimicked a Sangheili's mandibles.
plasmarifle.png
The Type-33 Guided Munitions Launcher is a Covenant projectile weapon that fires long, sharp crystalline shards that are guided until they impale a target--hence the “needler” moniker. Several seconds after coming to rest in their target, the needles detonate, creating severe and in most cases fatal wounds. The needler's top plate has 14 holes, with the needles protruding out of the holes. When the trigger is pulled, the needle is fed from the top into the "barrel" of the weapon, and fired at high speed. The Type-33 GML is used by Covenant foot soldiers of nearly all types. Yanme'e are also fond of this weapon, and their efficiency with it is high as their flying capabilities and large numbers make the needles harder to dodge. When the trigger is held down, the rate at which the 'needles' are fired increases.
needler.png
The fuel rod gun, which was first encountered by UNSC personnel in 2531, is essentially a man-portable version of the fuel rod cannon that is mounted on Covenant vehicles- it is a support weapon that is commonly employed in both anti-personnel and anti-vehicle roles. It appears to be recoil-operated and fires 3.8 cm explosive ballistic incendiary gel projectiles, that travel to the target in a parabolic arc. The design of the Fuel Rod Gun is unique, more akin to large ornament than deadly weapon; the barrel of the weapon is long and black, covered by thick gold plates that make up the body of the weapon; the ammunition is loaded on the top aft section of the fuel rod gun, and can hold up to 5 ballistic projectiles, which seem to be held together by straps, before needing to be reloaded. Because of the weapon's visibility it is just as effective as a psychological weapon, it is often the case that soldiers will ignore closer, more obvious targets in order to eliminate a Type-33 and its operator
fuelrodgun.png
The Type-50 SRS is a battery-powered directed energy weapon that fires ionized particle beams. The battery for the weapon has enough charge to fire ten shots. The muzzle velocity of the weapon is 3657 m/s (12,000 f/s), with a maximum effective range of roughly 1,500m (4900 ft) When firing, the weapon has a near-silent and negligible muzzle signature, and inflicts wounds comparable to the 14.5×114mm round fired by the UNSC's SRS99 series of sniper rifles, capable of instantly killing a target. The beam rifle has a barrel length of 82.55 cm (32.5 in.) and an overall length of 160.4 cm (63.2 in.), weighing in at 18 kg (39.6 lbs). The Type-50 has little recoil when firing. The mechanism by which the beam rifle functions is unknown to the UNSC, but accounts for the weapon's drastically different properties. The scope of the beam rifle is capable of a 5x or 10x zoom, but has the potential to induce slight nausea in humans who try to use it. The round section in front of the hand guard and trigger area of the weapon appears to contain the Type-50's "ammunition"; after the weapon has completed its firing sequence, the section rotates presumably to "chamber" another "round".

Though gravity hammers used by Jiralhanae serving in the Covenant military tend to follow a standard design, not all are functionally or aesthetically identical; gravity hammers are often tailored to suit the desires of specific clans, families, or packs. The first gravity hammer and the template for the standardized weapons of this type was the Fist of Rukt, an ancestral war hammer of Maccabeus' clan which was upgraded with Covenant gravity technology after Tartarus was appointed the Chieftain of the Jiralhanae in the Covenant. Though individual gravity hammers are crafted differently, the design of the standard Type-2 EW/H is rather simple, being composed of a long haft and a heavy head with a tungsten-alloy blade on the reverse end. Within the head is a short-range shock-field-generating gravity drive that uses gravity impellers that are often re-purposed from other technology to emit a kinetic pulse around 4.5 meters outward; this device was added to the weapon shortly after the Jiralhanae's incorporation into the Covenant in 2492. This device can displace gravity in targeted locations and manipulate localized energy fields, though the Jiralhanae's brutal nature means that they often prefer to use the weapon in melee combat. This allows the ability to pull a target towards the wielder or push it away as well as even create a vortex which pulls things in and then detonates the vortex to push things out. The exact mechanism by which it functions is currently under investigation by the UNSC.
gravityhammer.png
The energy sword's design is seen as the logical evolution of an ancient lineage of traditional Sangheili weapons, most notably the twin-scythe and the curveblade; superficially, the twin-scythe's influence on the energy sword's design is unmistakable. Technologically, the energy sword succeeded an older type of Sangheili sword known as the burnblade, which was used in the early years of the Covenant. Modern energy swords are manufactured by the Merchants of Qikost, a prominent group of arms makers from one of Sanghelios' moons. The energy sword consists of a curved hilt, which houses an energy storage and generation device, as well as the blade projector; that forms a blade of superheated plasma, stabilized by two small magnetic field generators built into the handle of the weapon—this forms and contains the oval shaped, ionized blades for which the weapon is recognized. The weapon is powered by a small battery that supplies power to the plasma generation device and magnetic field generators which generate and contain the plasma needed to form the blade. The battery's energy is reduced for each successful strike. Each strike from the sword will drain the battery by 10% of its maximum energy output. Once the battery power is fully depleted, the sword will deactivate unless recharged. The horizontal hilt forces the wielder to use a punching motion to stab rather than the thrusting motion of most knives and swords.
energysword.png
The Type-1 Antipersonnel Grenade is a dangerous hand-thrown weapon utilized by Covenant forces, typically used by Unggoy and Sangheili soldiers as both a thrown anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weapon. The grenade is spherical in shape and straightforward in design, with the activation "switch" located on the orange-colored area of the grenade. Above the activation pad is a Forerunner glyph. The glyphs seen on the plasma grenade are known to change with each new model and are believed to be based upon the time of manufacturing and the Covenant religious rituals. The plasma grenade's casing is made of smart matter programmed to stick to infantry targets. When primed, the Type-1 plasma grenade starts to vent its coolant. After the coolant has been discharged, the plasma generator inside destabilizes and the grenade detonates after approximately 3 seconds. The grenade contains some type of internal mechanism that allows it to distinguish between targets and background, it will stick to a soldier or vehicle, but not to a tree or wall. Once something has been stuck with a grenade, there is no normal way to remove it, only devices like an advanced electromagnetic shield can temporary disable the internal mechanism. However, this technology is rare and only issued to special forces of both the UNSC and Covenant. Detonation is first visible as a flash of white-blue light, and the kill zone area is instantly subjected to extreme temperatures; whatever is in the ground zero area, be it natural or otherwise, is instantly vaporized. Because there is no magnetic field to contain the plasma, it begins to cool very quickly - thermal expansion begins to take over and the resulting heat fans outward and upward, continuing to burn areas up to forty feet away until the resulting flames have cooled to the point where it cannot continue to expand. After the initial explosion, the kill radius area becomes charged with negative and positive particles which will form electrical currents visible for a short period after the explosion.

A militarized species, imbued with a sense of honor and duty. They're as powerful as they are stubborn, and trust me--they're stubborn. Females in their society are not permitted to join the military.

Infantry
Sangheili Minor: The most common and least experienced Sangheili, Minor Sangheili are still extremely skilled warriors. They possess shields that are weaker than Sangheili Major's. They are the possible Covenant equivalent of a Sergeant in ranking. Along with Major Sangheili, they often lead squads of Unggoy into battle.
Sangheili Major: This veteran Sangheili warrior holds the ranking equivalent of a UNSC Lieutenant or Captain. Overall they are more agile, more accurate and more aggressive than Minor Sangheili and rarely make tactical mistakes in combat. A single Major Sangheili can hold its own against an entire squad of UNSC Marines. They can be seen leading Unggoy and Minor Sangheili into battle.
Sangheili Ultra: These are the Covenant's equivalent of UNSC field officers. They command individual operations, and are identified with predominantly white armor.

Specialists
Sangheili Ranger: The Rangers are a voluntary group of Sangheili that work in the least forgiving environment of all: vacuum. Their helmets completely encase their heads, protecting them from the vacuum of space. They wear a variant of Sangheili armor optimized for zero-gravity, non-atmosphere combat.
Sangheili Stealth: The Stealth Sangheili are the Covenant's assassins and spies, and they use Active Camo technology as their main ability, as the Special Operations Sangheili do. They're often used on ambushes, which, with the help of their active camouflage technology, allow them to take down many enemies. Members of this rank wear unshielded light blue armor or shielded brown armor.

Covenant Special Operations
Sangheili SpecOps: Special Operations Sangheili are extremely skilled fighters, sent in by the Covenant to accomplish the most dangerous and difficult of missions. They have superior accuracy, fire in longer bursts and have slightly stronger shielding than regular Sangheili. Most notably, SpecOps Sangheili operate in squads, are extremely skilled and are accurate grenade throwers. They are equipped with an active camouflage system, but rarely use it, except to get into position without being noticed though they have also been known to sometimes operate similarly to Stealth Sanghelli using camo during battle. They can be seen leading Special Operation Unggoy into battle.
Sangheili SpecOps Officer: Wearing pitch black armor, the Special Operations Officers, also known as commandos, lead Standard Special Operations Sangheili and even Special Operations Unggoy. They possess all of the skills and equipment of their underlings.
Sangheili SpecOps Commander: The Special Operations Commander of the Covenant appears to be an even higher title than Shipmaster (perhaps around the same level as a Field Master or Fleet Master), controlling all Spec Ops within the Covenant and taking missions personally from the San'Shyuum.

Honor Guard
Sangheili Honor Guard: The Sangheili Honor Guardsmen are one of the personal guards of the High Council, in particular the Prophet Hierarchs, but they were later replaced by the Jiralhanae. They wear ornate, ceremonial red and orange elaborately flanged armor which has a glow to it.
Sangheili Honor Guard Ultra: Also known as the Lights of Sanghelios, Honor Guard Ultras are one of the most elite combat units of the Sangheili, named for the cluster of stars near the Sangheili home system, but they, like the regular Honor Guards, were later replaced by the Jiralhanae. They are seen clad in white armor with glowing Honor Guard plates, and wield Energy swords. They are not to be confused with Honor Guard Councilors, which are the creations of a glitch.

High Commander
Sangheili General: The highest-ranking military personnel employed by the Covenant among their groundside forces. They have a heavy amount of shields and an incredible amount of health.
Sangheili Zealot/Field Marshall/Fleet Master/Field Master/Shipmaster: A military order of Sangheili Generals employed by the Ministry of Fervent Intercession, Sangheili Zealots serve as the elite soldiers of the Covenant military. They are also Commanders of Battalions, Ships and Fleets. Field Masters lead armies; Ship Masters command ships; Fleet Masters command armadas. "Zealot" seems to be a general term, applying to all high ranking Sangheili below Imperial Admiral and Sangheili High Councilor. It is also possible that each rank has sub-ranks as well, since the rank of Field Marshal exists, though this is most likely superior to a "standard" Zealot.
Sangheili Supreme Commander: The Supreme Commander is the Covenant commander of a rather large or powerful fleet. A Supreme Commander is depicted as clad in bright violet armor, with a long cloak that wraps around his shoulders.
Sangheili Imperial Admiral: The Imperial Admiral is the head of the Covenant navy, and by extension, the entire Covenant military. It is likely that there is only one at a time.

High Council
Sangheili High Councilor: The Sangheili High Councilors share power with the minor San'Shyuum on the High Council. They are one of the highest ranks a Sangheili can achieve.

STANDARD SANGHEILI
elite.png
A species made up of raging, hulkish apes, possessing a pack mentality, and the strongest Brute is always the top dog. Always. It's unknown if there's a difference between males and females. Or... if there's genders at all.

Infantry
Jiralhanae Minor: Jiralhanae Minors are the lowest rank of the Jiralhanae race, clad in turquoise Armor and typically armed with the Type-25 Carbine. Not only do they compete for their posting but also for their equipment.
Jiralhanae Major: Jiralhanae Majors are clad in dark blue Armor and are promoted in a similar fashion to the Sangheili. They are promoted on the casualties they inflict.
Jiralhanae Ultra: Jiralhanae Ultras are now armed with violet Armor, they are comprised of the best of the regular infantrymen, showing tact, cunning skill and strength.
Jiralhanae Captain: The Jiralhanae Captains are even more experienced than their younger comrades and lead larger packs into battle. Also usually wield Brute Shots and Fuel Rod Guns.

Specialists
Jiralhanae Stalker: Jiralhanae Stalkers are the secret police of the Jiralhanae and specialize in stealth techniques with their active camouflage generators. They seem to be the Jiralhanae counterparts of the Stealth Sangheili unit.
Jiralhanae Jump Pack: These veteran Jiralhanae utilize jump packs to launch aerial attacks from afar, and use their enhanced mobility for guerrilla battle tactics. They seem to be the Jiralhanae counterparts of the Ranger Sangheili Units.
Jiralhanae Bodyguard: Jiralhanae Bodyguards are some of the chieftain's most reliable warriors and not only protect their Chieftain, but enforce his tribal law.

Chieftains
Jiralhanae Chieftain: These Jiralhanae Chieftains are clad in crimson/black armor and wield close-ranged Melee weapons such as Gravity Hammers. They also sometimes use Portable Plasma Turrets.
Jiralhanae War Chieftain: These Jiralhanae Chieftains rely upon powerful weapons like Portable Plasma Cannons and Fuel Rod Guns, though they will occasionally wield Gravity Hammers, to crush their foes. Their armor cannot be stuck by plasma grenades or needler projectiles.

A race of seedy smugglers and pirates, they're light on their feet, quick-witted, and always looking at something with the desire for personal gain. Females in their society are superior to males.

Kig-Yar Minor: Within the Covenant, the rank of Minor is the lowest field rank a Kig-Yar can attain. They are armed with standard-strength, light-blue point defense gauntlets and small arms such as the plasma pistol or Needler.
Kig-Yar Major: After gaining a sufficient amount of experience, Kig-Yar can be promoted to the rank of Major. Majors are more experienced than Minors and are issued stronger point-defense gauntlets that emit a violet, red or orange-colored shield and carry heavier weaponry.
Kig-Yar Sniper: The Kig-Yar rank of Sniper comprises the Covenant's foremost long-range combatants. They are known to carry weapons such as needle rifles and particle beam rifles, but do not use point defense gauntlets as to better wield their weapon. This is turn makes them more vulnerable and exposed to enemy fire.
Kig-Yar Ranger: Kig-Yar Rangers are part of the Covenant's Special Warfare Group division, Fleet Security, and are trained for zero-G EVA combat, and are equipped with vacuum suits and magnetic boots.

STANDARD KIG-YAR
jackal.png

STANDARD T'VAOAN
skirmisher.png
A species made up of methane-breathing, hard-skinned, cowardly creatures. Since they're the weakest of the Covenant, they're always first on the front-lines, not to mention they breed so rapidly. Males and females have no differences in appearance nor societal structure.

Infantry
Suicide Unggoy: The Covenant assign select fanatical Unggoy squads to use suicide attacks as their primary offensive tactic against the enemy. They resemble standard Unggoy except for a large, transparent cylindrical tank in place of the standard triangular one. Sometimes, however, whether overcome by religious fervor or in a fit of desperation, they will rush a target while carrying a charged plasma grenade in each hand. This usually happens when a commanding officer is killed.
Unggoy Minor: The Covenant equivalent of a UNSC Private or Private First Class. They wear orange colored armor and are often the least dangerous, most cowardly, and inaccurate marksmen of all the Covenant. When their commanding officer is killed, they routinely break formation and flee; however, they will regroup and start firing at their target again. As is fitting for Jiralhanae behavior, Unggoy under the command of the Jiralhanae are substantially more aggressive.
Unggoy Major: Similar to a UNSC as a Lance Corporal, they are more experienced than Unggoy Minors, and wear crimson/red colored armor. They command several Unggoy Minors and are slightly more skilled in combat and courageous, though this difference is not always substantial.

Specialists
Unggoy Heavy: Being similar to the rank of UNSC Corporal, these specialized Unggoy wear green colored armor and are often deployed for defensive actions. Their primary purposes are to give heavy support for their group, and are commonly seen wielding fuel rod guns or deploying turrets.
Unggoy SpecOps: These Unggoy are experienced and specially-chosen, usually commanded by the special operations Sangheili, and are given distinctive jet-black armor. They are part of the Covenant Special Operations division of the Covenant Special Warfare Group. Just like the special operations Sangheili, they are able to use active camouflage. They are extremely skilled in warfare compared to their lower-ranked counterparts, and won't panic too often in combat situations, if they do at all. They usually can be seen wielding needlers and sometimes fuel rod guns, and throw plasma grenades with great accuracy.

Leaders
Unggoy Ultra: These Unggoy serve as field officers to their comrades, and wear distinctive white-lilac or silver armor (reminiscent of the Sangheili Ultras). While they appear to have some authority over lesser-ranked Unggoy, they have no control whatsoever over the other Covenant races (except for Kig-Yar). They are stronger opponents than their subordinates, and are more accurate with firearms, throw plasma grenades more often, and wear heavier armor.

Non-Combat
Unggoy Deacon: The only position open to the Unggoy in the Ministry of Tranquility. This rank doesn't often involve combat or hard manual labor, though they have been known to carry around plasma pistols and needlers, the former possibly meaning it is the lowest position on the Covenant hierarchy.

STANDARD UNGGOY
grunt.png
Every hive is led by a single Queen, and she controls her Yanme'e swarms. Her pheromones can also be collected and used to manipulate Drone swarms. It is believed they work almost exactly the same as bees.

Worker Yanme'e: The worker caste is similar to the worker castes of similar function found within many eusocial Earth-based insect species. This caste was artificially merged with the protector caste by the Covenant, following the species' incorporation into the Covenant. The caste is likely responsible for creating the hives and were likely employed by the Covenant in custodial positions. When the Covenant forced Yanme'e workers into combat positions on Rapid Conversion, several individuals became unusually clumsy and flustered; they became confused over the change in task.
Protector Yanme'e: Similar in function to the soldier caste within many Earth-based insect species, the protector caste is charged with defending the queen. This caste was artificially merged with the worker caste by the Covenant, following the Yanme'e's joining of the Covenant. The protector caste was used as the Yanme'e military, within hive society and in the Covenant military. Within the protector caste, there appear to be many ranks. Minors are the most common form and have a very low position in Covenant society. Majors likely represent higher class in the protector caste: they have larger wings, fly faster, are more skilled in combat and often carry Needlers.
Queen Yanme'e: The Hive Queen is the central figure of the hive. Her primary role, as with ants and bees, is to propagate the species. The queen serves as the leader of the Yanme'e species. The Yanme'e lead an aggressively matriarchal society, with the other castes of the Yanme'e serving the queen and carrying out her orders to ensure the preservation of the hive. Yanme'e queens are responsible for the species reproduction and way of life, leading to the well-being of a queen being the uppermost importance of a hive. The queen is substantially larger than the other castes of the race, with distended, egg-producing abdomen and thick legs. It is unlikely that a single queen could support an entire species so there are probably multiple, though possibly subordinate, queens.

STANDARD DRONE
drone.png
A species comprised of large, fleshy worms that merge together, linking their minds and bodies, to begin something massive. Lekgolo is the name of the lone worm, Mgalekgolo makes up the Hunters. The Lekgolo can also form other constructs, and are the primary source of power for most Scarabs.

They have no rank structure, and seem to be used as heavy muscle within the Covenant, even given command over most species and low-ranking Sangheili.

STANDARD MGALEKGOLO
hunter.png
The Huragok lack a rank system entirely, and have no command over any unit within the Covenant. Effectively, they're a subjugated slave species. While very intelligent in their own right, Huragok are incapable in combat scenarios. They float about using the gases in their bodies, and are insanely skilled engineers, able to construct unique and powerful weapons or vehicles in hours, or repair something considered impossible to repair in roughly the same time. They're highly infalmmable, and sometimes used as beacons by the Covenant in battle, the Huragok emitting a pulse that gives its allies powerful energy shielding until either all allies are dead, or the Huragok is killed.

STANDARD HURAGOK
engineer.png
Balaho, also known as Tala IV, is the homeworld of the Unggoy and the fourth planet orbiting the star Tala, a blue supergiant. Hosting an atmosphere featuring large quantities of methane, Balaho is orbited by two natural satellites; Buwan and Padpad. Balaho is a hostile and frigid world, home to brackish tidal flats and numerous swamps, growing less hospitable due to environmental degradation. Regarded as a backwater world, Balaho and the Unggoy were aggressively subjugated into the Covenant in 2142.
balaho.png
As far as the UNSC knows, the Forerunner were an ancient civilization that mysteriously disappeared, and their reach expanded all of the known and unknown galaxy. The Forerunner had technology so advanced, that every time even a small catalyst of it is discovered, human technology jumps ahead decades.

The Covenant, meanwhile, revere the long-dead Forerunner as Gods. They believe that the Forerunner made systems called "Halo"s, and these Halo's propelled the Forerunner into Godhood, living for eternity in paradise. This is the Covenant's entire religion, built upon this idea, and the Prophets that command them have deemed humanity as an affront to this path, this Great Journey. This is why the human must be purged.

This is for people like me who sometimes can't think of a good name, so here's some Halo name generators;
Sangheili (Elite) Names
Jiralhanae (Brute) Names
Kig-Yar (Jackal/Skirmisher) Names
Unggoy (Grunt) Names
Mgalekgolo (Hunter) Names
Huragok (Engineer) Names

In conclusion to all of this, I'm going to be VERY selective about those I let join. While this is intended to be fun, I want roleplayers that won't drop out five posts in, individuals with good writing skill, and people that are willing to pitch their own ideas to help build up the story that will be told--trust me, I'm always happy for the input of others! This doesn't mean I demand frequent posts, btw, I get it that we can get busy with IRL things. I do it too, sometimes go for a week or two without posting, but so long as that isn't a consistent habit, we're golden. Oh and also, in the "other" category of either sheet, put "House of Vadam" to let me know you've read everything (it's not required to read all of the intel tabs, btw).

Welcome, to Halo: Crucible.

NewName: Alex Ross
Age: 32
Gender: male
Race: human
Occupation/Rank: UNSC Spartan-lll / Sergeant
Personality: Alex is quite easy going around his unit and fellow soldiers, and tend to lighten up negative situations with jokes or trying to focus on the bright side of thing. Even in the midst of battle he tries to make everything enjoyable by telling his unit that's whoever gets the least amount of kill has to buy the other drinks. Finally, although he might seem like a positive guy, he can be quite serious and strict when the situation calls for it.

Appearance: Alex is 6'10 tall, has ginger hair, brown eyes, and a buzz cut hairstyle. He wears a scout helmet as well as scout armor with the primary coloring being black and the secondary color being Gray
(Can go wrong with Halo.)
I appreciate you taking an interest in this project, but unfortunately, after a preliminary examination, I don't think you would mesh well with what we plan to do.

1) You didn't follow the character sheet instruction.
2) Upon examination, and discussion, your post frequency is far too low to accept. No offense intended, of course.
3) Upon examination, it's determined that your writing etiquette doesn't conform to what we desire for this roleplay.

Again, thank you for your interest, and thank you for understanding.

Name/Age: Aon Òg, 19
Gender/Race: Male, Human
Occupation/Rank: UNSC NAVCOM Crewman Apprentice (CA)
Personality (optional): Aon is a proud person, having been raised to honor heritage and skill when young.
Biography (optional): Born to a reasonably middle class family on Fumirole, Aon fell around the line of mediocrity at a young age in school. Not realising this was the main reason he was able to enlist as he was, he happily went along to Boot Camp as a CRR, and began pushing himself to his limits upon realising the expectations now placed on him...bringing him just above average.
Other: House of Vadam

Name/Species: Muwduw, Unggoy
Gender/Age: Male, 30 Human Years
Occupation: Covenant Grunt Deacon
Personality (optional): Completely devoted to the Ministry of Tranquillity and the Covenant Religion as a whole, Muwduw is one who shows absolute loyalty to those over his rank.
Biography (optional): Born on Balaho, Muwduw was taken to labour work on the planet as soon as he could, but was discovered to be reasonably smart when he fashioned a reasonability effective tool when his own broke.
Other: House of Vadam.

Looks cool but I know absolutely nothing about Halo ^^

I’ll keep an eye on the thread tho, see if I can’t research a little and rustle up some good old-fashioned inspiration haha

Thanks for showing an interest! Lack of knowledge (hopefully) won't be too big of an issue. I aim to make this an accessible story to newcomers and veterans of the franchise alike, starting off with light knowledge of the verse, while pursuing a unique and original storyline (that can be altered through the progression of characters and whatnot).

I love it. I can already think of unique ways for Aon to be part of the story (especially considering the human aspect of Halo has always been military front-line focused), and Muwduw looks like a ton of fun (or lack thereof, considering his disposition on humor). I'm very happy with your peeps, Frase!

Absofruitly accepted.

Other: House of Vadam

There will likely be a second character sometime

I'd be super interested in taking on the role of Covenant Shipmaster or even UNSC shipmaster. Are there any extra character sheet requirements when making a character bio suited to either role? I'm a big Halo fan but it's been a while so I gotta get back up to speed on some lore before I get to writing a bio lmao

Thank you for your proposal to join, but unfortunately I must decline. After an evaluation, it's undetermined of your roleplaying and writing abilities, and the content shown in this story more than likely won't be suitable for your age range.
Additionally, you didn't follow the vaguely elusive sheet instruction. I don't think you'd conform well with what we plan to tell. Again, thank you for your interest anyway.

Fortunately, you won't need extensive knowledge to get back up to date. The timeline takes place before Halo: Reach, so there isn't much to get caught up on anyway. Take your time though, it's no rush!

It'll be my project for tomorrow. I guess I just wanted to know whether or not you want a bio for a higher rank character to be more extensive, since I assume they'll play a more pivotal role in the grander scheme of things
In theory, a higher rank would be more important, but truly all player characters will hold more weight over NPCs, but don't exert yourself to deliver a crazy sheet or anything. So long as it follows the one rule, uses the format, and isn't like, empty, then you're solid as Snake.
Little Metal Gear reference for ya there.

Name: Akaz 'Trevamee
Species: Sangheili
Gender: Male
Age: 57
Occupation: Zealot/Shipmaster

Personality:
A stalwart believer in the purpose of the Great Journey.

Biography:
Born January 9th, 2495, Akaz was a fresh, infantry recruit just 30 years of age when the Human-Covenant War began.

Appearance:
Adorned in a Zealot's combat harness, Akaz could be hard to distinguish from the general Sangheili for prying, human eyes. But he's large (about 2.8 meters tall, 185 kilograms), with longer legs than normal, but smaller mandibles. A large portion of his armor shows wear and tear from its many years of use against the savage human race.

Other:
I wrote him as not being the Shipmaster of Divine Declaration, but if you want, I could p. easily re-arrange it for him to be in charge of it; just figured to shoot for something a lil smaller
Oh yeah. That's some good shit right there.
The only issue is the "Other" category (the details are toward the bottom of the opening post).
Once corrected, you're golden.
Also, I'm down for Akaz to be Shipmaster of Divine Declaration.

Heheh whoops my bad totally did not skim past the end there lmao

I'll edit his history to say he was made shipmaster of the D.D some time before Fumirole a bit later, won't take much work but I can't rn so I just wanted to throw that out there haha. Though, not gonna lie, I did grow attached to Sinful Simony as a name (I'm a sentimental sucker like that.)

Alright, guess it's time to make my peeps. We have a Shipmaster, so it's only right that we should have the opposing human Admiral.

Biography: Born in 2493 on the planet Arcadia, the Insurrection War began just a year later, and Mikayl grew up in a world where it seemed terrorists when target your home just to piss off the UNSC.

Just so that people know what I intend to do so they can plan ahead, I'm planning on making an important Kig-Yar character and/or one of the Spartans for the UNSC ship. But I've been quite busy lately and there's business with other RPs to sort out...

It's no rush, homie. We haven't even started this, so take the time you need, I'm not hurrying this along myself, I'd like to treat it in a casual light, even if I'm strict about who joins lol. I'm always down for Kig-Yar representation, thought about making one, myself (but I'll probably make a Brute instead).

Biography:
Born August 9, 2518 on Reach.

Appearance:
Once a lanky, lean teen, Giacomo Grizziolo - like many other Marines - took up weight-training to build muscle over the years.

And now for a secondary character (not yet the Brute I've been talking of) to add an alternative perspective;

Here is my character, I hope its ok, I think the ages all match up correctly and I kind of threw together the biography.
Name/Age: Emily Rinherst/28
Gender/Race: Female/Human
Occupation/Rank: Spartan III/Corporal

She didn't feel like she had much of a place and was angry at the covenant for stealing her chance at having at least one parent. So at the age of 6 she volunteered for the Spartan III program.
Her Spartan armour is similar to Kat-B320's armour from Halo Reach but the blue is replaced with a dark green colour and with no prosthetic.

A few things;

Up her age, at least a little bit for when she volunteered for the Spartan-III program. 6 is way too young, and doesn't make sense. I think the youngest the UNSC recruited at was at the very least 13 or 14. Spartan-II's are the ones that were 6, but that was because they were unlawfully and secretly abducted by a secret program helmed by what is essentially the future Illuminati.

As for Occupation/Rank, her Occupation would be a Spartan-III (most of which fit into UNICOM Enlisted, so just select a befitting rank from UNICOM Enlisted).

And just for cosmetic's sake, Kat-B320's MJOLNIR Mk.V armor was of the "Air Assault" variety.

Alrighty, I'm finally in a good spot to start this, figured out a lot of college stuff. Since we haven't gotten any more sheets or people, I think we should start and get a feel for where we're at, if everyone's still on board. I'm already writing up an intro post, so stay tuned.

So here's the Brute I promised;
