Pidgeot wins the award for "coolest looking Normal/Flying-type Pokemon" in my opinion, although Swellow definitely comes a very close second, if not joint best with Pidgeot...but I digress. Moveset time:
Pidgeot @ Focus Sash
- Return
- U-Turn
- Swagger
- Pursuit
Pidgeot's stats aren't all that amazing - its highest Base Stat is in Speed, and even that only manages to reach a Base of 91, so Pidgeot has to be played intelligently to succeed. This moveset is designed primarily to annoy the opponent - Focus Sash ensures you will be able to take a hit and live provided there's no Stealth Rock or Sandstorm/Hail around, which allows you to get off either a cheeky U-Turn or a Swagger on the opponent. This set relies somewhat on prediction - predicting how the opponent will react to being Swaggered is a key factor in getting the most out of this, but if you can pull it off this Pidgeot can be very frustrating and very effective too.
Pidgeot @ Choice Band/Choice Scarf
- Return
- Aerial Ace
- Quick Attack/Steel Wing
- U-Turn
Pidgeot's mediocre stats means it generally needs a hefty boost to get its stats high enough to sweep opponents, although it can definitely do the job well. Return is your strongest available STAB move outside of breeding (Brave Bird is via breeding only,) Aerial Ace grants you double STAB, U-Turn can catch out opposing Psychic/Dark-types whilst adding to the general hit-and-run style that most Choice item users lean towards, and then you can either choose Steel Wing to hit Rock-types harder, or Quick Attack for a high-priority STAB'ed hit. Steel Wing is likely the better choice if you're using the Scarf, whilst Choice Band would pair off better with Quick Attack.
Keep in mind that using a Shiny Pidgeot in general against an opponent who is currently in a relationship with someone could result in a somewhat messy break-up...the legends do not lie...
