Aspen smiled nervously. "Well, guys, looks like it's our turn now. Return until I call you out to battle." She called all of her pokemon to their capsules and walked out to the battlefield. A blond boy was waiting there.
"Took you long enough," He sneered.
"Will it make any difference? You're going to lose either way," She countered, sounding more confident than she was.
The boy scowled. "I'm Mark, your downfall. Go, Meganium!"
Aspen smiled. "I'm Aspen, and I'm going to tear you apart! Go, Ashley!" Ashley's fire blazed as it let out a battle cry.
Mark shrugged. "Type advantages won't help you here, beautiful. Your move though."
"Ashley, use Flamethrower to turn the battlefield into a flaming pit of fire!" Ashley's Flamethrower lit rocks on fire everywhere. Thanks to its flame-resistant fur, it didn't catch fire and burn up.
"Meganium, use Earthquake!"
"Jump up!" Ashley jumped up just barely in time. Flaming rocks flew around it. "Use Flamethrower on Meganium!" Ashley's Flamethrower hit, taking it down.
"Ugh, return," Mark said, seeming annoyed. "Go, Mightyena!"
"Okay, Ashley, let's let Twilight have a turn. Return! Go, Twilight!" Aspen called back Ashley and sent out Twilight, whose gray flames burned brightly.
"Ladies first," Mark said with a mock curtsy.
"Alright, if you insist! Low Kick!" Twilight kicked Mightyena hard into a wall, one-hit ko'ing it. "Good job, return!"
"How did you beat me so easily? Mightyena, return," Mark said, clearly shaken by his defeat. "You'd better win. I won't be taken down that easily for nothing."
Aspen laughed. "I was planning to win anyways!" The two battlers exited the battlefield.
