“There has to be food in there.”

Nat stopped before a small brick building. The sign in the front read MEGAMART—an obvious contradiction to the building’s small stature, which could hardly be described as “Mega”. However, a supermarket, no matter how small, was exactly what Nat wanted to see at that moment. For one, it meant, hopefully, that he wouldn’t have to starve to death in this confusing world. Also, there could be pain relief medicine inside. Perhaps it could cure his unrelenting headache.

He looked back to his three companions. When he first found them, he wasn’t too sure whether he could trust them or not. But it turned out that they they were just as confused as he was. They made for interesting company, in any case. There was the big guy, Otis. Definitely the sketchiest of the bunch. He looked tough as nails, and the combination of his physique and formal attire made him feel vaguely intimidating to Nat. Then there was Juliana. She was another person whom Nat was pretty sure could squash him in a fight. She was also unbelievably attractive. Finally there was William. He was just a kid, but he seemed to be holding up really well despite the circumstances. It was courage that Nat had to respect.

The lights in the supermarket were off. No surprise there; the electricity was out in every building they had checked so far. However, seeing the dark, empty store through its windows was strangely unsettling. It made Nat want to stay outside in the comfort of the sunlight, however irrational it may seem. The pulsing pain in his head had other ideas, though. It needed that medicine, and it was going to get it. The next moment, Nat found himself making his way into the store, not even addressing his companions a second time.

[ The likewise-spy: Otis "McCracken" Levithan! ]

"Stupid Nat is going to get himself killed one day." Otis, however, he preferred to be addressed by McCracken but that was tough luck getting everyone to use that sort of code name, grumbled. A small bit of annoyance coated his thoughts and vague protection of his companion sprinkled in. A deformed cupcake appeared to represent the man's thoughts most accurately.

"Get back here, muffin." Otis enjoyed being able to use the funny, sweet names as it was the complete and opposite nature of his full-body instincts. He picked up his briefcase once more and walked in, however it looked more like a strut, after Nat.

Trainer: Julie Fieldfist, Age early 20's

Julie Fieldfist had been outside the building, looking at the sign for the MEGAMART. It was a lot smaller than she had predicted, and She knew that if Nat was to go in there by himself, if he found a Fire type or a Fighting Type or something like that, that would get him killed, at least Clobbopus knew Mud Shot. Speaking of the Fighting Type, the Pokémon had been literally clobbering some small objects, and didn't find much of anything.

It was at that point that she heard McCracken call out that Nat might get killed if this didn't go right. She knew that he can be an idiot, so Naturally, she followed McCracken, and had Clobbopus be ready if something should attack. She had Metang's Pokeball armed as well, she remembered that Clobbopus had had a Focus Band for some reason.

She looked around as she entered the store, seeing random items all over the place, as she saw Nat, and McCracken trying to get to him.

"Nat, what are you doing?" Julie called out.

She was worried for both of the men, who knew what was out here, much less what was in the building, she kept her eyes on the two as Clobbopus caught up to Nat.

Trainer: William Cunningham, age around 12-14 years old.

William was just checking the outside of the MEGAMART before entering. It had been a whirlwind the past few days and he needed to make sure the only adults in the group were alive. At least, they looked like adults. "Are we sure the area is secure?" Kadabra telepathically whispered to him. "Aw c'mon, Kadabra. I'm sure as long as we have an adult nearby." William replied in a relaxed tone, as he saw Juliana enter the building. "Alright, now we should enter." He said as he entered the dark building, Kadabra close behind.

It was dark and cold, and the store looked covered in rubble. "Let's hope we find food, water, and potions." He said hopefully as he entered the aisle attempting to find Juliana, but the broken shelves looked empty. He heard the voices of his companions in the aisle beside him, but the collapsed bit of the ceiling blocked him from reaching them. "Aw nuts." He said as he got Skrelp's pokeball and sent it out. "Skrelp, can you please use Acid on that blockage?" William asked politely. Skrelp rolled its eyes before spewing purple liquid at the blockage, melting it to the ground. "Thanks, Skrelp." He said before putting Skrelp back in the ball and kept going, reaching the rest of the group.

“I need medicine! If this headache doesn’t go away I’m going to lose my damn mind!” Nat called out. “And we need food too! If we don’t get fed soon, my dear Vanillite will be on the chopping block.”

He pried open the door, and noticed the little ice cream cone’s horrified look. “I’m only joking now. Who knows what we’ll do once we really start to starve.” He winced as a particularly bad wave of pain surged behind his eyes.

Nat was dismayed to find that there was no pharmaceutical section in the supermarket. Of course. Why would such a small store have something like that? He pushed his disappointment aside and went to look for some food.

The fresh produce aisle was absolutely rank with the smell of rotting food. Nat steered clear of that area. The cereal section, on the other hand…well, Nat was fairly sure cereal wasn’t perishable. He grabbed as many boxes off the shelf as he could. Suddenly, a slip of paper fell out of his pocket. It was the same slip of paper that he had been carrying with him since he woke up. Although it was blank, Nat felt that it was somehow important.

Except now, it wasn’t blank. As Nat bent down to pick up the paper, he realized that there was writing on it. In a seemingly random position were two words in a handwriting that Nat knew was not his own, but still felt that he recognized for some reason.
